Using a John Deere 450c dozer to skid Walnut trees in the Worst conditions ever! Wide Track Dozer Saves the Day. #logging #logger #timber #chainsaw #heavyequipment #forestry
When my dad logged, he logged with a little 350 jd dozer with a winch , and he was a true believer in that little dozer, he was a believer in not tearing the ground up also, you remind me alot of my dad the way you operate 👍👍
Wow! That mud is incredible. I was dying to see if you’d make it through. That machine is so cool. I know exactly what you mean when you get a great piece of advice and regret not heeding it sooner. Your work ethic shows in this video. It’s a difficult balance maintaining your income and employees. I appreciate the time and effort you put into your work and your thoughtfulness in the process. Thank you for sharing your reasoning, it’s both entertaining and informative. Love this channel!
That is one awesome dozer you have! After working many years on heavy equipment it is nice to see that you use it but you also take care of it . Thanks for sharing your experiences and no b/s knowledge.
Great Video. Nice Job as usual. You have a great plan and that way you are always welcome back. Dozer is Awesome and without that you would not be doing that. I myself going out to cut some Logs today. All Safety Gear is ready. You have a great Day stay safe. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
Hey thank you Ron, be safe out there today. Yes, it’s best not to tear things up unnecessarily. If you look at the average logging job in my area versus our jobs there is quite a bit different in the fact that were careful around the future timber growth.
We haven’t been able to work this week 12 inches of snow melted and 1/2 inch of rain definitely to muddy here to work thanks for the video have a great weekend
My boss has a cat D3 c lgp, and we absolutely love that dozer! After running it as long as i have now i don't think i would ever want a dozer that wasn't wide track!
I have a question, would it be feasible to raise your A- frame a footnote to raise your butts higher and just the tops on the ground? Interesting video keep them coming.
Here in Northeast Missouri the bottom has fell out since the cold snap. It has warmed up a little and it is as muddy as it has been in years here. Nice job buddy.
I’m so envious of that 450C. She’s a mudder, and her mudder was a mudder! lol I’m not a logger, just a contractor, but I do some logging and milling for myself. If one came up for 20k in sound working order, do you reckon it be worth it. I have a high lift I don’t use, which I need to sell. Probably get about 18k for it, so I’d have 2k plus shipping costs. I could probably pay a friend a few hundred bucks plus fuel to grab it if it’s in the state.
I hate the slop but winter is only time i can afford to log. Yards are packed all summer, tight stick, quotas, snakes, ticks, chiggers all that. Come a rainy winter theyll send a truck to get the wood and measure both barks. Ive got a d31p LGP. Slow as mollasses but it dont leave a rut. Summer i do ag stuff and dirtwork.
I sympathize with you on the track adjuster. It caused me to sling a track on the side of a hill on an old Cat D7E - what a nightmare! Question: What was your problem with the winch cable that caused you to have to break out the grinder? Oh, love the dozer setup 👍🏻
We tie a knot in the cable to hold the sliders on. The was a bit of a fray on the end and was just tidying it up a bit. Prevent small puncture wounds from cable. Glad you enjoyed it.
I love watching your videos brother,I’m trying to get started logging myself and I’m the same way as you I want quality over quantity keep up the videos man me and my son watch him all the time. God bless you.
I commend you if you follow through with the water bars afterward. But worth acknowledging also that the slop you repeatedly scrape off and down the watershed, is in reality the Earth's topsoil. I see that you try to take measures to avoid making things as bad a some operators do, it just frustrating the endless neglect that we justify in pursuit of that all mighty dollar bill. Machines get more praise, respect, and care than the planet which gave us life and sustains us.
That 450 is a sweet little machine and one of the best ever made !!! I like your content and look forward to more...
Great, I’m glad ya like it.

Another challenging but productive day in the woods. Love the channel!
Thank you!
Great video glad to see the dozer back up and running very cool to see the amount of slop that thing will crawl through with no issue
Oh yeah, it walks on water. lol
Can’t wait to see YOU back up and running!

Hey you too!
Love the dozer !
Those logs took a mud bath all right... Guys at the mill will just love `em ...😉
Good video !
They have debarker, and there gonna need it.
🤣 They sure will !@@Good.Fellers
I hope I didn’t jinx this crazy winter weather when I said I wanted to see more of the wide track dozer. 😂 Great show!
Glad ya liked it! I like the warm wet weather as apposed to the snow.
My boss has a cat D3 c lgp, and we absolutely love that dozer! After running it as long as i have now i don't think i would ever want a dozer that wasn't wide track!
That’s how I feel.
I have a question, would it be feasible to raise your A- frame a footnote to raise your butts higher and just the tops on the ground? Interesting video keep them coming.
I can’t raise the log arch because the dozer doesn’t weigh enough. If the machine was bigger I would definitely do it.
Does getting the logs covered in mud cause any issues for the guys sawing them at the mill?
Commercial mills have debarkers to prevent issues.

Hey thank you!!!
Pretty sweet set up, stay safe!
Thank you!
Great job your doing exactly what you should be doing stay safe
Hey, thank you!

For 20k I would buy it as long as everything works.

I log every week, no matter the conditions

Looks like fun
Absolutely 👍
That dozer is the trick
Oh yeah!

Thank you for the kind words!
Looks like there might be some Beavers in that area. Might want to take a little logging break and set some traps.
Caught in a Connie this morning
What year is your JD450C ? JimInCincy.....
I’m not sure to be honest I think it’s early 70s
@@Good.Fellers ----- THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY......JimInCincy
No problem.
Had me nervous showing a broken dozer and then driving off into that field, good thing it was already fixed haha.
lol!
Big tract of land, how do u have to leave it?? aLot of times we need to fix roads ,ruts and hey....
No ruts
What's your opinion on the 372xp
It’s great but a bit weak for what I do.

I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it. But make no mistake it’s all about money and always will be.
Nice equipment. Except the Ford pickup!!! 😂
Thank you, I like an American Truck and I’m not into Government Motors. I liked fords before the bail out but now they’re my only option.
I’d love to find a wide track like yours.. I’ve been looking but dang they hard to find!!
Yeah if I ever see one I’ll buy it there hard to come by for sure.
What do they call the style of tracks? I’m wondering if a guy could put them on another dozer?
@jerradtaylor I’m not sure, I call em wide tracks.
Weld grousers or ice cleats what ever you wannna call em on your tracks
I might need to do that.
Help with the hills
I hate workin in the deep freeze weather
Me too!
Where do you live brother
I don’t say.
I just try to keep privacy for my family.
Or do like me work like mad all year and watch TH-cam in this bad weather .
I like to work year round.
Beautiful truck…minus the radials. Still I’d get the life out of them.
That’s the plan.
Start skidding up the hill on rubber let's go. Make some money.
Skid up the hill when u can
