It's kind of astonishing to me to see a talkshow this measured, reasonable and well moderated, where the host selects interesting people and lets them discuss a serious issue.

@@bigpun7916 Cars are not produced to kill anything- they have a very specific function I.e. to transport people and goods from place to place. Guns are produced to kill, whether animal (hunting) or human (war). Sure, some people use cars to kill people and most people who own guns don't 'intend' to kill anyone. However, by definition cars aren't designed to kill, guns are. Ergo, the human association with both objects are entirely different. Your point just doesn't stand up to scrutiny. By your logic Donkeys should all be culled as they cause a number of human deaths per year. It's basically a 'whataboutism' argument you're making by comparing cars to guns

AnonUser20 I believe in the second amendment only because the Society and the Government has been shaky and unpredictable since time began. When it collapses...and it will. I want to be armed. I'm from those times...I remember JFK being shot...I saw Bobbie get shot live on tv....2 of my Uncles were in Vietnam...Kent state had occurred and people passionately went one way or the other both having very valid points. Guns don't kill...people do. But like the Dr. said we can and have identified obvious marks....brain scans also very accurately pointing out obvious signs the person is prone to certain behavior's. Knowing this what do we do? Lock up anyone with these markers? Keep them from arming themselves...right...bring it up as defense in trials to justify their state of mind? Just look at our society as it is today! It is a house divided and as it has been said a house divided can not and will not stand. There is no more live and let live...it's live my way or else. That is no the freedom this country was founded on. We all are entitled to our opinion and way of thinking. Otherwise we are naught but lemming's and stepford wives. How sad. We need to learn to agree to disagree and live in peace. Either way I am prepared for the Zombie apocalypse. It is coming in one form or another. Anyhoo...God bless us all and may we learn to live and let live.....

Part of the art of intricate conversation is to articulate yourself as best as possible at the first attempt so as to be as best understood as you can make yourself. No 3 or 4 attempts to make a point otherwise you create confusion and ambiguity for others and ultimately frustration for yourself. This group shows nicely how to best speak with your best foot forward each time. There's no time to go away and analyse what someone has said, digest it then return. No, you need to be best understood first time around and if you can't do that...don't speak!

Back then, people talked TO each other, not AT each other, i.e., the panelists here actually listened to and replied to what others said with their own comments or questions, instead of waiting to spew talking points regardless of what was said. Also, they kept to the issues, not personalities and name-calling. THE ISSUES: WHAT TO DO? In this case, gun control. Here and in the first part of this show in the other video, the closest they got to attacking people was blocs, e.g., "liberals," "conservatives," and only really to delineate rhetorical sides on the issue.

The biggest argument against the implementation of tougher gun control laws is that making it harder for people to get guns essentially means encouraging the creation of a black market for guns which criminals who don't mind breaking the law will have a near exclusive access to.
The drug cartels who practically dominate the southern border with Mexico which pumps $8 billion of narcotics into the US, will be more than happy to open up a new market in gun smuggling for themselves.

These panelists, by ficusing on guns, are not seeing the forest for a tree - nor are they seeing that everyday knives or scissors can be used to assassinate, deadly car accidents can be forced to happen, people can be choked to death in their bed as they sleep WITH A PILLOW, a bite from a venomous insect or other small animal can be used to "assasinate" - are we going to outlaw pillows, scorpions or kitchen knives or scizzors? Endless possibilities to kill exist AND HAVE BEEN USED THROUGHOUT HISTORY ALL OVER THE WORLD TO INFLUENCE DIRECTION OF EVENTS. TO ASSUME ALL AMERICANS ARE PRONE TO VIOLENT METHODS BECAUSE OF THESE FEW GUN SHOOTERS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE AND SHOWS BLINDERS IN VISION - and naive utopian thinking. Show me the Republican-led city in which death is a religion. Show me where "death is religion" in conservative, (basic) "God-fearing" communities? Show me where death is a religion in rural communities. That is certainly not a religion in rural Stokes County where I own some land. It simply doesn't exist.
If death has become a "religion" maybe it's because of Silicon Valley's design, production, marketing of first person shooter games that might stepson's stepson plays online with strangers.
If death has become a religion, maybe violence a religion, perhaps it has something to do with NFL football players being elevated to God-like status. Many of these after have knocked their baby mamas around an elevators, many after they've been prosecuted for dog fighting.
Show me where violence has become a religion from people like Tim Tebow. Show me where John Voight has preached violence. You can't find it.
Show me where violence has become a "religion" by people like those of Duck Dynasty, other country (music) type stars. It doesn't exist. Compare that to the black rap culture.

"One wonders if the country is worth saving " a cry of pure frustration. there are many vested interests and the more powerful the interests in money and votes will win because that is what drives them. The second amendment is the crutch on which they lean. The gun problem is a like war very complex. There are times when the majority people support war if that war is thought to be a choice between war or being a slave as against Hitler. Vietnam did not offer that immediate choice because the reason was said to be a domino theory where the choice of war or freedom would arrive later. The gun problem is not the same problem as war because it is down to the individual and the complex multi cause and effect of killing to end a problem in the mind of the individual as apposed to the view of politicians and leaders who have darker reasons for taking a whole country to war. Both are uncivilized but why should those people be concerned about being civilized. We in most cases elect our leaders because we can not be trusted to rule ourselves, hence our leaders see civilized society almost as gun fodder as did many generals in Britain in WW1. the truth is we are light years from being civilized and logic alone tells us it may be too late.

It’s in the United States Constitution only because it wasn’t even debated. At that time, each colony/state had proscribed that anyone owning land would be required to own a gun, and in at least one state, he, the householder, or settler, was loaned one musket and six pounds of gunpowder. It was to kill the Indigenous Americans, and secondly, to kill or capture runaway slaves. Hence, it wasn’t even debated at the debates of the Constitutional Convention. Boom.
