    I first heard this standing in a bookshop in 1974. That man's voice sent shivers running down me. And the intense thumping bass line was so hypnotic I wanted to cry with joy.

    Always loved this song. Paul Carrack has one of the best voices in rock history. He also sang with Squeeze (Tempted) and Mike and the Mechanics (Silent Running) Just an Incredible voice.

    WOW--we too saw this on a commercial. No, we'd never forgotten how great, I mean GREAT, the music of the 70's and 80's was. I wish some contestants from Idol or Voice would do these. Needs to be a wider audience so the younger ones can hear what we listened to.

    I was working on the railway in Sheffield...it was a cold day in December 1974 in a workman’s cabin, drinking tea from my mashcan, the smell of the calor gas stove and the transistor radio playing this song. The memory will be with me always.

    I lived in Las Vegas in the 70's. This song was played over and over on the radio and at the discos. Pleasant memories. Another big song during that time was Baker Street.

      The 70s was my era. I am a 67 year old mixed man but I really like this song. My former pastor( God Rest His Soul), worked at Motown and co wrote Someday We'll Be Together by the Supremes with Johnny Bristol.

    Remember this song well,. Always liked it. I think I was already out of school. Im 63 now. Boy I feel old. Use to love to dance to these songs. But dont dance anymore. Im a christian. My life is quite changed from those days. Became a christian at 22.

      Hate to tell you this, but being Christian has NOTHING to do with not dancing. Unless you're a fundamentalist Baptist or Jehovah's Witness, dancing is certainly permitted.

      @@mmmmocha7 I'm not mistaken. However, it all has to do with the 'type' of dance. 'Proper dance' is allowed. If it is seen as sexual or erotic in any way, then it is frowned upon. This comes from The Watchtower. We had JW's as neighbors back in the 90's. They never let their daughters attend school dances. Maybe things have eased a bit over the years. Hope so.

    As soon as I saw the Amazon ad I knew a lot of people would like the tune and would want to know all about it. That song came out when I was in the ninth grade. Have loved it ever since. Amazon hit a home run with that ad.

    The first 8 track I popped into the factory installed AM/FM/8 track player in my very first brand spankin' new car ... my beloved '78 Thunderbird - ordered in August and delivered on 9/21/77. I'm 70, the car is almost 42 and we're both doing just fine, thank you! The 'Bird has 263,xxx miles .... :-) Life is so good!

    I was a teen living life in the 70's. Not much drama -no internet- no cell phones or even a pager. Vietnam ended so there was no war. This was a peaceful free living time with excellent rock and roll and soft cool sounds like this... great time to be a kid

      Now that I think of it Sue, You are right, there was a lull in the action. I was in my late twenties by then, but i do recall it was peaceful. at ease, a good time . So SUE, Why the hell did you go screwing around and invite Disco to join you. Now the 70s will always be remembered as the era of 5 gay guys singing, The Village People, and the INfamous DISCO DUCK, Thanks Sue, You know I have family still stuck there, probably your fault too.
