    Quick note to add to the excellent info presented in the video. The M's internal speaker can be safely silenced by connecting the amp's audio out leads to an 8 Ohm 100W non-inductive dummy load resistor. This allows you to bypass the speaker without damaging the amp. Keep the inboard "power" wires connected to the field coil's electromagnet, however. That current needs somewhere to go.

    Did everything you said an it was easy to understand. I am a great solderer but have no idea what i am doing with this stuff. We got a hammond m3 by accident. Someone owed me $20 an gave this to me instead. Not knowing what it was began playing it an ended up buying a leslie 147. Plugs were different so watched your video . Both of them working great . Thanks Drawbar 888 you are on my favorite list . Will be following you from now on. Was wondering you anybody who can teach me to play. Looking on utube also. Thanks again, Craig

    I would use 16 gage for the A/C power feed from the M3 amp to the Leslie control. The speaker and signal wires are not critical so any solid core speaker wire should be just fine.

    Nice job!
    I bought a Leslie 147 and will hook it to my M-3 as soon as I can.
    I have the 2 half-moon switches from a Hammond T-295. What is the minimum wire gauge to use everywhere?
    Thanks!

    Great job re the M3 - Leslie connect. I'm interested in adding a Neo-Instruments Mini-Vent (for Organ) between my C2 and Hammond Tone Cabinet to mimic the doppler effect of a real Leslie's whirling speakers. The Mini-Vent comes with A/C power so, I think, all I need do is pick up the audio lead from the C2, send it through the Mini and back to the Hammond Tone Cabinet but I think your video indicates there are two audio wires coming from the organ. Have any idea what I do about that to make things work? Thanks in advance. Sincerely, poor man's poorman.

    I am trying to do the same thing with a M3 to Leslie 122. Can I do this the same way or is there something different. Plus I want to disconnect my internal speakers. I know I have to create a dummy load for the speaker. How can I do that? Also, where did you get the connection diagram for the leslie connection. I need one for a 122.

    Great video! Thinking about buying a M3. Do you think it would be hard to find someone to do this for me? Not sure that I have the know how to DIY'it! Lol! I'd hate to mess up a good M3 trying to get that real B3 sound.

    That looks like the innards of my Combo-2 preamp. BTW can anyone tell me what gauge wire I should use to rewire the Combo-2?

      I'm not familiar with the E100/50c connection. You can do some research on this site by clicking on "Leslie" at the bottom..

    This is an excellent website to start to understand the various Hammond/Leslie connections.

    Leslie 122 is a different hookup than a 147...it needs a special transformer to do the motor switching. For the dummy load, you need the 122 echo kit. There is also a diagram for this echo kit at the above site and you can find these units on ebay...

    will this apply to a leslie 110 to hammond m3? My m3 came with the 26-1 connector, but its not set up. Would it make sense to remove the 5 pin input on the box and it like this?

    • @drawbars888
      @drawbars888  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the Leslie 110 has the same connection as a 147. BUT, the Leslie 110 doesn't have it's own amp so you could disconnect the M3 speaker (audio wires only) and run those wires to the 26-1 box to feed the 110 all by itself. If you have a field coil speaker on your M3, leave the power wires connected to the speaker, even though the audio is disabled. The amp needs to dissipate that power to the speaker. Hope this helps.

    can you do this with a 122 Leslie? or does it have to be a 147?

    • @drawbars888
      @drawbars888  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This method only works on a 147. The 122 is a totally different connection and requires a special transformer and B+ adapter.

    I need to hook up a 1963 a100 to a 50c leslie. is there a kit or any advice to hook it up?

    • @drawbars888
      @drawbars888  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need a Leslie 53-1 connector kit to use both channels of the 50C, reverb from the A100 goes thru the 6x9 speaker and the dry organ signal goes thru the rotary channel. Another option is to disable the 2nd channel of the 50C amp by disconnecting the wire from Pin 5, then use a 26-1 kit for a Leslie 147. Check out Captain-foldback.com for pin outs.

      +drawbars888 would you happen to know which wires on the a100 I need to hook the 53-1 kit?
