If this the standard of Robert Egger’s cinematography, I’d love to see him remake Jekyll & Hyde. 👍
I do agree with culture and Tom on that they should release this movie on October but no December instead.
Tom touched on it, but was wrong with his example. Hoult played Renfield, and now he is playing Hutter.. the character of knack is the Renfield character in Nosferatu. The irony is that Hoult is playing opposite characters in two stories that share the same lore. In renfield, the manipulator.. in nosferatu, the manipulated.
To add to this, Dafoe is doing the exaxt same with different characters. In Shadow of the Vampire, he played the actor portraying Orlock in the production of Nosferatu. Now he is playing the van helsing character. The monster, and now the monster hunter.
Its set in Winter. Films set in Winter feel better in WInter. Halloween is for kids in UK.
Shadow of the Vampire is a great Movie
Yeah, Die Hard and Die Harder are both set at Christmas so the public have made them Christmas movies over time.
Tom misses the point. "Nosferatu" and "Renfield" are not the same type of film. Unless Eggers has started making comedies... 🤔
I think mid-December would still work, that way they can still have the european/UK audience and that “Christmas audience” that they’re after
Willem DaFoe will be brilliant as usual. Looking forward to it.
People don't have a lot of confidence in this film, but I hope it does well.
Who says that?
@@RunnerInc People are saying that it may not be the hit fans are looking for, I disagree, but there we are.
@@bobsav76 I think you are misunderstanding the discussion, the fans will love this movie I'm sure. Regular movie-goers who thought the Northman was too slow are never gonna like Eggers movies, fortunately they don't have to since he can actually make movies for really cheap compared to the regular Hollywood slop that needs 200 million minimum.
@@ponli7532 The fans are the important thing, and as long as the regular movie goer is at least amused I think they'll be good. But, like you say, they don't have to.
Christmas is a perfect time for the release.
I always enjoy a bit of creepiness around Christmas and usually have to rely on a ghost story on tv.
I can't wait for this one, Robert Eggers has me extremely excited.
So Terrifier 3 will go head to head with Nosferatu during Christmas . Oh happy day
just something about the horror genre ...it is a psyschological bootcamp for fear.
The Tom Man
So horror films need to all be crammed into October?
GTFOH.
It's like an old teezer. Not too much or too little. Loved it. Hope the full trailer still holds back some of Shrek. 102 years, looks good. Is this a reamake time record?
Xmas is perfect. My mother raised me on horror movies on Xmas
I have both Dog Soldiers and American Werewolf in London on 4k so both a re really great movies though I would give AWiL the edge.
This one looks interesting as well so I am looking forward to it.
Christmas would be a bad choice with lots of good movies out because nobody wants to see a horror movie when the weather is bad and everyone is depressed
3:16 it makes sense if they’re trying to pitch it to the awards season crowds. December’s around the time films like this come out. I think that’s partially why they’re doing it. Can’t speak for Renfield.
"there is no spoon..."
Maybe the reason for a December release is the film being set during Christmas time?
Batman Returns was a Christmas film released in the summer.
I'm sure he didn't put it out on Halloween because there is too many movies that come out at the same time. I think Christmas week is a great time. A lot of people take off that week to spend time with their families,
Eggers needs to do Homer's The Odyssey.
Horror movies around Christmas have been a thing for a while. Think, Gremlins.
Also, i think especially in the case of Nosferatu, it might have christian undertones.
Did Orkok have a pet dog/wolf in the original?
I agree 💯 with Mr H. I think Christmas is great. FYI. I’m in the USA
where do you go live at ? what channel?
Maybe if it's great, it can set a new rule. No remakes until 102 years have past. Too many short time remakes.🤣🤣
I would be fine with a 50 year gap though 100 works too and yes there are too many, re-imaginings are pretty bad too.
It all depends on the circumstance. If it comes from a request from studio executives to a bunch of talentless writers to remake this old movie in order to make money in a short time, it will be terrible. If the remake comes from a passionate place from a director that pitches it to a studio that allows the film-maker realise that vision, it can be great.
This is Yall excited? Especially dude at the bottom the criticism is one of sceptic and nitpicking. Trailer is literally the best there can be for a TEASER trailer
I really don’t think it will pack the normies in the theater. My normie friends hated all the Eggers movies so far. Their complaint was that they were slow and not understandable.
Not understandable? The only Eggers film I've seen is The Northman so I can't speak for the others but The Northman is piss easy to understand. It's a revenge film with bits of Norse myth sprinkled in. I don't know how it went over your friend's heads.
@@BradLad56 I remember smoothbrained complaints that it was too slow IE not a marvel movie.
Someone please explain to these yanks that self-respecting ye olde English folk don't give a rat's arse about "muh Halloween". The cold, bleak darkness of Northern European December is perfect for a film like Nosferatu. I would have dropped it mid-December personally, or maybe Xmas eve, but I think this will be well-received in any case, certainly in Europe/UK.
A Halloween/October release is predictable, banal, and just too on the nose in 2024. I actually believe a Christmas release date will interest even the most normie audiences because it’s pretty unexpected. Plus this is an Eggers film. Risk is always involved in his work.
This movie must be released in October 31st
