More hints about that black magic system. That and the city/region are most of what made me want Cults of Zahak. I really have my hopes up that you guys will have magic as interesting to wrestle with as Vampire humanity systems but which can work in Mythras but with the kind of interactive engagement with "the darkness"... a relationship with using the magic as with the process of casting spells in The Broken Empires is supposed to be like.
Mechanically, it is going to be very similar to magic in Classic Fantasy and sorcery in Mythras, with intensity/magnitude, but won't have the flexibility of sorcery where you can combine different spells and effects together. Magic points are handled a bit like theism, but don't exist as a separate pool like devotion points, they literally eat away at your total MP pool until your nature is totally corrupted. Thematically it is all about lies and undermining people and deception. It's going to be so cool.
@@blacklodgegames Yes, I'm looking forward to it. Really what I have in mind is the recolonization of a fallen, once supernaturally isolated (like the Blood Mist of Forbidden Lands), Kingdom full of temples to exotic now long-forgotten gods (actually usually Tulpas, Demons, and Fae). Magic is to only be learned by players after exploring a connection between their characters and their relationship to elements discovered in the setting. Very much a land which fell to corruption from within and misuse of magic. I imagine it to be like an exploration of a version of Avaloch , of what it would be like after it completely collapsed. NPCs following the way of Zahak, whispered voices heard at shrines in ruins, anthropological explorations... golems worshiped by pict-like surviving cultures... The magic will be key to these plans
10/10 stream again, thank you so much. What a pleasure to attend.
Nice stream. Your game sounds badass, Joel!
It is!
Ideas for Merch: BLG A-shirt, because NO APOLOGIES NO COMPROMISES would go hard at the gym
Pocket polo shirt bc the skull would be rad on the pocket.
I forgot it was Thursday
