I hate to see him get hurt as he is so adorable, but the way he blasts through the shutter doors from the kitchen to the living room is HILARIOUS!

First time I saw this episode as a kid, I COULD NOT stop laughing my butt off, especially the way ALF flew from the kitchen to the living room!! Omg, how much I miss this show!

I like that the cat knew what was about to happen and wasn't sticking around so that ALF could put the blame on it

I saw this as a kid and was like, "Oh no, he's dead!"
I started watching this show recently as a joke, only to fall in love with it lol. I laughed my ass off at the kitchen explosion scene, it caught me so off guard.

This scene was so memorable they even had it in Dirty Grandpa!
Notice how when Lucky walks off camera, he disappears immediately before ALF gets thrown out of the kitchen. they must have stopped the camera in between shots.
they did actually, you can see the cat disappear when it lands on the floor. loL. good eye.
In one blooper reel, the cat apparently decided to turn around and piss on ALF after the "slow your reflexes" line... maybe he didn't find that line funny. I guess they used the best parts parts of several takes to get that one scene.
looked more like he just stuck his tail up in the air toward's ALF's face. but that was a funny blooper haha.
I suspected that's how they did it, because it would not have been safe for the cat to be so close to an explosion. Thanks for the proof!

very first time I saw this back in the late 80s, a friend of mine was over at my house. my mom was in a bad mood. when this scene happened, me and my friend bursted out laughing pretty loud and then my mom came in the living room blowing up at us telling us to turn off the tv and sent my friend home lol.

I used to watch reruns of Alf on Odyssey [Now Hallmark]
Between this show and "Full House," 80s tv was full of families named Tanner whose kitchens were damaged in horrific ways.
Our view count has grown well over 1,000 now.
I gotta say, this is one of the few shows I prefere to watch in my native language (german) than english. Maybe its because it was my childhood, but I like the german voice of ALF better, and some of his lines are better too in my opinion.
For example, where he says "Well, better late than never" in english, in german he basically says "Oh well... its never too early, and rarely too late!" which really fit the butler persona voice so damn well, which was a way smoother version of the normal ALF voice in german.
In English he says many French so I find it funny which maybe you didnt have on German (duck à l'orange, zut alors...)
