Agreed, I’m not changing mine on my RS. It sounds just right to me, not too loud and not too quiet. Looks 100% better than aftermarket and it’s 100% legal too.
That damn Z900RS is at the moment the bike I want. I am about to purchase a Zephyr 1100, the predecessor as my first bike after 13 years of not riding 😅 but in a year or two I want to get my hands on that beauty. I love the proportions, the styling and the paint job. For me it's genuinely one of the best looking bikes on the market right now.
Same for me. I ride a Yamaha XJR1300, a pretty similar bike (although a bit more beefy), love it and never going to get rid of it. But.. I love the looks of the Z900RS and according to all the reviews, it's a great ride. I think I'll start saving and buy it as a second bike in a couple of years, when it's cheaper second hand. :]
Well to be honest i rode one few days ago cuz i want it too. But i love the stock exhaust. Like. Burble and all of stock exhaust and i loved more quiet high range, less shouty than a gexer that whine. Just after tried cb1100 and gsxs1000 and i love way more z900 stock line. That said i was ready to buy it but in france all new models are out. I have to wait november to even know if it will be restock. Kinda sad. Rs cafe one in kawa green and white is mint!
Did mine with Delkavic header & stock can & reflash, 10% power & torque gain & sounds way better without being obnoxious plus it's still technically road legal!

@@hyedefinition1080 Not sure as i am in Australia. Police etc more interested in ridiculous loud pipes than whats coming out of them. Great bass roar just with Delkavic headers & stock exhaust but not that bad you will draw attention. zero on/off throttle snatchiness 100 times better
I can’t stand the brand but one thing that Delkevic has done right for this bike is that classic 4-4 exhaust. I wish someone would post a video of that one with the baffles out, even though it sound great with them in!

I love the sounds on the YN channel, classical music and hundreds of sequential explosions per second. When electric bikes finally take over it feels like I'll never experience my favorite musical combination anymore.
Ya really only needed the header. The stock can has literally no baffling in it at all, it's all on the cat. I spoke with a guy who has a fully built one with 1083cc pistons, Yoshimura cams, port & polish, airbox mods and high flow filter. He's tuned to 135whp and almost 80 torque. He said the stock cams were damn near perfect circles and he wasn't sure how they made any power at all.
Did mine with delkavic header & stock can which is all you need, technically still road legal as well. Reflash to cure that low rev snatchyness caused by the fuel cut off. Transforms the bike & the only mods you need
Those numbers sound low tbh. This has the same motor my z900 se has and it's rated for 125 hp and 80 lb ft torque stock. Granted probably bhp not whp but seems like even a minor build with a good tune should pull more
@@bassistoftheyear there are some differences between the Z900 and the RS. Like I know some of the case covers are different and the compression ratios are different and a handful of other things.

Tbh it's pretty much the reason I didn't get the RS. Love the retro look but typically don't mod my motors past an exhaust to maintain reliability
I purchased my 0 mile 2019 Z900RS Cafe last June and made a point to ride it stock for a year before doing the flash and exhaust. I love this bike and hear great things about a flash.
I have this bike- stock fueling = slightly let off of throttle = cuts off all fuel to engine= abrubt engine braking... very tedious. An ECU flash reprograms the fueling so the engine isn't starving for the gas
I've got the same system on my cafe rs, get it remapped and upgrade the suspension....112bhp at the rear wheel with 72 ft lb of torque...and it handles 👍
I own a z900Rs Cafe and I thought the stock exhaust was good enough let alone loud enough when you get on it. But I definitely would consider doing a few mods to increase power a bit when I get more used to the bike.
Hey quick question because no dealer seemingly knows when i ask them. Are the bars on the cafe lower than that on the standard model? Im pretty sure they are but have gotten mixed responses. Thanks!
@@ramirof1986 Yes they are. 100% The bars on the normal Z900RS are standard, they have the up-swoop to em lol. The bars on the Cafe are completely flat across, and kinda position forward a little. Not a lot, to where you’re hunched like on a sport bike, but they are flat. I’m 5foot11, normal arms I would say, and I still added risers to my bars on the Cafe. Didn’t NEED to, just wanted to. Gonna see if I can take a few flicks today. I’m gonna be on the bike in like an hour. Gonna try and do a little video too.

The power + throttle is smooth, won't buck you off it and has wheelie control and traction control, and ABS. It is fast as hell but, the bike only goes as fast as you make it. I think you would be fine. I went from an SV650 to the Z900RS.
The exhaust header on the CH650 is so nice that on the fairing version of the Moto, they left a chunk of plastic out just so you can see those glorious side swept headers

@@coreyfeldhaus6887 I’ve got one 😂 it’s definitely NOT a naked bike. It’s a muscle cruiser at best. Besides, it uses a timing chain instead of the gear driven cams in the VFR so it doesn’t rev as high or make quite as much power. I literally want a VFR with handlebars

Completely off topic but have a question. It seems like Spite's mic picks up a lot less windnoise on these rides. I wear the same Arai as Yam and noticing the wind noise difference has me curious if the Shoei helmet is that much quieter or if it is just a mic positioning sort of thing. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!!
Maybe less ventilation around where he puts the mic. Also, Spite's beard might work as an extra mic cozi-fluffy thing (definitely the technical name for it.)
God damn it Spite, you don't need backpressure. That's not how it works. The reason exhausts that have more back pressure tend to make more torque is that they also tend to have better scavenging at lower RPM. It's a wave pulse timing thing, not a flow thing. Runner length and diameter both affect wave propagation speed, and how long it takes pulses to propagate to the collector and back up other header tubes is optimized at lower rpm by factors that also tend to increase backpressure.
I took the cat out of mine and inserted a piece of pipe into the stock Muffler. Sounds sick! You just have to play with the length of pipe on how loud you want it to be.
Not hating on this beauty of a bike but it kind of irks me when you're comparing this "detuned retro version " to the mt09 and such. Hopefully you guys can get the normal version z900 (which I love mine) and then do a comparison 👍
Get a flash at Ivan's Performance Products out of SC - he spent lots of time with the z900rs. I put a flash on my Kawi N1K after a full system and it ran flawlessly after.
I'd take that Kawasaki cruiser with that beautiful sound of a beefy bike with very decent power and speed over an Mt that does wheelies...don't need the wheelies I want that gorgeous driving experience
Soundwise I prefer V2 and V4 over anything else. I think the classic inline 4 sound is really aggressive and therefore cool but it also gets annoying pretty fast.

Cannot compare that with a Mt09 but more with the speed twin and the R nine t, sold my 2014 Mt09 with the new Z900rs café and yes it’s not the same hooligan bike but with good mods this can compete with naked.
With removing the OEM Exhaust entirely, installing the loe vince exhaust. What did you do with the O2 Sensor? How do you run catyles? What did you do when the ECU Threw an emissions fault code?
I'm thinking about buying a Z700RS. I can't tell from Kaw's site if the wheels are spoked. Are those spoked or faux spokes? Spoke maintenance is a deal breaker.
I want more noise and power from my Z900RS than the stock exhaust is giving me but I don’t wanna be “that guy” as they mentioned in the video about being super loud. Would it be any less loud if I did aftermarket headers and the stock can? Anyone with any advice on how to get somewhere between sewing machine and diesel truck with open headers while eliminating the bread box, I would greatly appreciate the info
All the muffling is from the bread box, so you’re stuck with it if you don’t want it too loud. The actual Kawasaki muffler does very little muffling, same as the aftermarket mufflers.
do you remember what that rear stand you're using is? i have a rebel 500, and finding a stand that doesn't bump into the exhaust is a PITA, and yours looks perfect for what I need.
I maybe a minority but love stock 900RS sound just fine.Kawasaki put great quality dble wall headers great sound why spend 1k and get low quality screamer which only annoys police and folks in general
Im keeping my 2020 RS Café stock. Sounds great for a stock exhaust and the neighbors are still friendly. Its not a race bike, but its no slow poke. If you want much more than it has, you probably bought the wrong bike.

I have the cafe with the full lextek exhaust, sounds phenomenal and the slight lean on the cafe really gives it the mean feeling

Keep the original only change headers, still sounds good just look so much better and this bike is all about looks, flash totally change the bike

Definitely more of a cruiser bike. Needs to have a more deeper humming exhaust.

I'm thinking about buying a Z700RS. I can't tell from Kaw's site if the wheels are spoked. Are those spoked or faux spokes? Spoke maintenance is a deal breaker.

I want more noise and power from my Z900RS than the stock exhaust is giving me but I don’t wanna be “that guy” as they mentioned in the video about being super loud. Would it be any less loud if I did aftermarket headers and the stock can? Anyone with any advice on how to get somewhere between sewing machine and diesel truck with open headers while eliminating the bread box, I would greatly appreciate the info
Mine came from the dealer with an aprokovic 4-2-1 header, but retained the stock can. Sounds very similar to the video.
All the muffling is from the bread box, so you’re stuck with it if you don’t want it too loud. The actual Kawasaki muffler does very little muffling, same as the aftermarket mufflers.
do you remember what that rear stand you're using is? i have a rebel 500, and finding a stand that doesn't bump into the exhaust is a PITA, and yours looks perfect for what I need.

I maybe a minority but love stock 900RS sound just fine.Kawasaki put great quality dble wall headers great sound why spend 1k and get low quality screamer which only annoys police and folks in general
Yes I'm good with the stock exhaust too.
Im keeping my 2020 RS Café stock. Sounds great for a stock exhaust and the neighbors are still friendly. Its not a race bike, but its no slow poke. If you want much more than it has, you probably bought the wrong bike.
