I stayed here October 31 for 4nights definitely got the same vibes, did palace solo trip as well, Jamaica Jamaica 🇯🇲 I enjoyed myself. Food was always good, always saw staff cleaning,
Riu has 6 hotels in Jamaica. 3 in Mobay, 2 in Negril and 1 in ochi Rios and they are building a 7th hotel in Falmouth Trelawny. These hotels are very popular and are occupied year round You do have some hotels that are newer than others, so if it is critical for someone to stay in a more updated and modern Riu Hotel, you will need to do your research before booking. The same can be said for Hyatt, Sandals, Hilton etc. Tourist that visit the Riu Hotels hardly stay in their rooms because of so many activity on and off the property.
Thank you for the advice and thank you for watching. I really like Jamaica. I will go back and not say at a resort. The local food is so much better too. Next time I will stay at a cheaper place that is not all-inclusive. The hotel being dated would not have been a problem if it was cheaper and they provided the benefits they promised.
@@pasleyscorner I have stayed at RIU Montego Bay many times over the years during my business (and some vacation) travels to Jamaica pre Covid. Back then, I was very pleased with the package - facility, food, entertainment, service - on each of my stay and hence the multiple revisits. Except for newly built hotels after 2017 or the Sandals chain of hotels, there are only a few hotels in the Montego Bay region that I have not stayed at one point or another. Also, I have never stayed at RIU Reggae and RIU Palace. Right now I am in the process of planning a trip there for the summer.
Maybe my definition and yours are different because if I’ve seen a few resorts in Jamaica that have wooden furniture, very colorful walls, and printed bed sheets … if you know that look to me THAT is dated.
I stayed at Riu MoBay before the upgrade and the rooms were so dated and worn. The Palace was actually the update back in 2018 when I went. I didn’t even know the sister properties were next door because there was so much to do on-site. Your experience sounds a lot like my experience at the Riu in Cancun. I would give the MoBay Riu another try because the customer service was mostly good and I like the property itself. Looking forward to seeing what you got into in Jamaica.
Thank you for watching! Ok. I don’t know the prices of natural goods but little boats just come up to if you sit on the beach selling natural goods. People were smoking on the beach and the beach is a short walk from the hotel. The hotel is literally on the beach. If you stay at the spot I stayed at you can go on any beach. Things may have changed since 2023 so definitely check out the website or call the hotel.
Yes, all 3 resorts have sit down restaurants with a decent ambience. Riu Montego Bay has sit down restaurants - you may need to make reservation to dine. It can get busy.
@@mikelarry3835 The best food is not at the resort. Try to eat the local food off the resort as much as possible. The resort food is a bit bland, in general.
If you’re at the palace, you can only eat at the other places at certain times. I tried to eat breakfast at Montego and they stopped me and said I could not eat breakfast there.
Thank you for watching. Maybe next time I will stay there. I feel like I paid too much to stay at the palace when the other hotels were cheaper and seemed to offer more.
Great question. When you stay at any of those resorts they give you a wrist band that identifies which resort you’re staying at. I’m a solo traveler with a camera phone/GoPro - I probably stood out 😊
@@pasleyscorner so they're not like sandals where u can eat or use the pools at the other properties near each other? I want to do sandals but they're sold out😔
@@ladycp2287 They told me that I could eat at the other places and use the other pools when I booked it - if I stayed at the palace. But when I tried to eat at Montego for breakfast they stated I could only eat there for lunch. I thought I had access to all 3 resorts with no limitations.
Personally (and emphasis on "personally"- just before some person feels compelled to come for me), I think you are being a tad bit dramatic. I can almost sense some vendetta against the hotel. You failed to mention anything good about the hotel- notwithstanding the fact that the hotel has a near-perfect Google review (4.5/5). You only dwelled on the fact that the hotel is not as modern/updated as you'd like it to be. That's a lopsided, biased "review"! I don't see anything wrong with the hotel (based on what you showed in the video). It could be- like you've said in your intro- that it's because it's in video form. In any event, RIU hotels (and just an FYI, you pronounced the name incorrectly- not that that's important) are old- most of them are 15-25 years old. Besides, these are 5-star, all-inclusive hotels. They are supposed to be on the pricier side- unlike most of the resorts in the US, for example, that are NOT all-inclusive/5-star hotels (and I've been to MANY hotels in the US and around the world). With all-inclusive hotels, you mostly don't pay for anything, and most of them usually have 24-hour room service. Hence, it's going to be pricier than, say, a 3- or-4-star "resort" in Vegas (one that will charge you an arm and a leg for add-ons).
Shawn, Thank you for watching. I am sorry to hear that you think I have a vendetta against the hotel. This is just my opinion and my experience. I appreciate your opinion. I don’t think anyone will come for you because you have an opinion-it’s not like I am a famous influencer :).
Thank you for taking the time to review and share your experience at this resort. Very Good information. It's greatly appreciated. 👍🏾
