+Faith Puton RIGHT?! I freakin love this dance. You know, whenever i have a bad day, I put this on, cheers me right up. Cross my heart and kiss my elbow it does. :)
The Academy should create award for best dance in a movie and give the first one (post mortem) to Audrey Hepburn for her dance at the underground parisien bar in Funny face (1957) 😍
wow! wow! wow! Audrey was awesome! It's a damn shame she didn't get to make more movies where she danced. Love this jazz dance. She could have played a ballerina (she was a ballet dancer). Looks like she kept it up to be able to do a scene as demanding as this one. I'd love to dance like that! 🥳💞💥
@@eva-g7g4q She's not wearing socks, it's the color of her skin along with the lights. But I think Michael may have been influenced by this, just adding the socks for effect
Totally and seriously ballet, in fact she never thought about becoming an actress, that basically just happened, one reason she was a bit too tall. She also (half) joked about still dreaming of a dancing career, in an interview in 1988! Many people don't really know that either, she had a great sense of humour. :)
Bought the movie long time ago , Dance scene was the highlight for me. Should have added worked at NCSA one summer back in the 90's must have seen something and I did ! But I watch her ankles and feet.
the song funny face is a 50s song, well in the song shes doing is half of s wonderful by george gershwin 1920s, oh i love history all the grace and dancing
If only every one of Audrey's films could have featured her dancing ability, highlighted it in some way (admittedly, one movie, namely, "Wait Until Dark", would not have worked out) then American cinema would have a treasure trove of modern dance performances the equal of her near contemporaries, including Ginger Roger's, to name one. If "Funny Face" had showcased Audrey and Astaire then it would have rivaled "Singin' In The Rain" as a dance musical work. We'll, that's just my humble opinion, for whatever it's worth.
No but she probably had input. Along with ballet she studied expressive dancing - and was known to "go off the beaten path" with her ballet. Great moves! this whole movie was exquisitely written and played by main actors. and the gershwin tunes really pop it up several levels as well. i wish my voice teacher was still alive as i would love to hear her comments on it. she would get absorbed by musical pieces.
Found this later today: Audrey Hepburn with ballet coach Lucien Legrand, the first dancer and choreographer for the Paris Opera Ballet, at a dance rehearsal for her film Funny Face, Paris, France, 1956.
i'm totally distracted by how shockingly underweight audrey clearly was in that film.she was anorexic.she is the size of a small child.i always liked her.she looked, even more frail, when older and still anorexic.she was emaciated thinner than any modern actress.
This scene is the reason why you watch this movie.
Nah, it's the "How Long Has This Been Going On?" scene for me.
SHE IS THE CUTEST THING EVER!

+EverythingAudrey.com I CANNOT WAIT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE!

Posthumous, not post mortem
This scene has made an entire movie.

Not many people know she originally trained as a ballet dancer!

Do we know who choreographed this? It's brilliant!

Does anyone know the name of piano music at the end in the book shop scene ?
it's beautiful - this channel has a whole section on piano music. why not ask the channel creator?
Zirkus Monti?
it's like fred astaire choreographed this... , just saying
