Just heard about Paul absolutely gutted for his family and friends . Paul was a great player and I will remember some of the brilliant goals he scored.
The best target man ever. His hold up play was superb and his close friend John Wark scored so many goals because Paul occupied the defenders with his strength giving Walky the space to run into. Mariner was amazing with Whymark, Brazil or whoever was alongside him. A wonderful man off the field too.
Found an interview with Jack Charlton attacking greenwood at 1982 WC for not using Mariner's movement to free Trevor Francis up to bang the goals in..!
Whau!!!!!How much I loved him when I was bacarozza (little baby!)....beautiful and he had everything.....ohhhh....I hope he is good!!!!!Cecilia from Prato
@@chriscoughlan5221 Yes Trevor was from Plymouth but he never played for Argyle. Now re read what OP said. PM is the greatest Plymouth Argyle player ever, and its not close.
on his debut he scored this great goal and was then the darling of the ipswich crowd
and he never let you down to become a ledgend from that day

RIP Paul. He was a great player. He played for my team Pompey in defence mainly and did a great job under Alan Ball.
