Sarissa were famous for being Macedonian, so were Shield bearers (the irl ones, not TABS) Shield bearers in real life were essentially hoplites. Also the Easteners would make no sense being Barbarians, the army you described would most likely be of Nordic origins
The Sarissas also seem to lose versus Halflings, due to them being harder to target, and the stone age Protectors. Farmers seemed to sometimes be able to defeat them in a close battle, but sometimes the Sarissas would win by a large margin. Longships would also win, if the formation was very tight.
Hey Baron, I think a way to improve the tournament would be to find a formation that works well for each unit (It appears we've already found it for the Sarissans) and give them that formation for each battle. This would also mean that melee units (excluding the berserker) would be put as close to the front as possible, while ranged units would be placed a little bit beyond their max range (to compensate for aiming time). This way I think it'll be a little bit more fair to some units, especially archer variants and siege equipment.
5th time suggesting this, FOOTBALL: 2 scarecrows on each end 10 berserkers on each team both facing each other First berserker to wipe out the scarecrow can say they got a TOUCHDOWN!
I don't know why but this is the most satisfying game I've played in years. And this... with these graphics and *DEM PHYSXX* ... man... I've been waiting for this. Easiest buy ever.
The First Primaris Cato Sicarius a pike is a polearm, and is much longer than a spear. A spear gets classified as a pike when it’s to long to use with one hand. This makes the uses of pikes quite different than the adaptable spear, and it is limited to a tightly packed formation which were guarded on each side by infantry (at least by Alexander the Great, the later king Pyrrohs didn’t do this, and suffered much greater losses as the pikes are nigh useless in close melee) Tl;dr: Pikes are less adaptable, and have less uses than spears, making the difference pretty important
The Battle of Issos, 333 bc, Alexander the great vs. the persians: Macedonia: - one Phalanx made out of 1 sarissa behind 1 protector, maybe 12 (or more) units broad - 3 archers & 2 stearthrowers (or more) on one flank - 6 wheelbarrows (or more), placed in a spearhead position on the other flank The persians: - just a cluster of varied infantry, a few hoplites, a few clubbers and squires and archers and more, so that they have superior numbers or a higher cost - a few wheelbarrows in the other side as well
Thinking of it, the Phalanx would be more potent, if it was several macedonian Hoplites deep. And by macedonian hoplite i mean the combo of one protector and one sarissa.
@@ericpeterson8560 3 Scarecrows are able to kill 3 mammoths or more. There isn't the 'best' unit. Most units have their pros and cons. Scarecrows are the best choice to destroy single targets and small groups of unarmored units.

@@Haloinheritor117 the launch doesn't do damage, and they jump over typically. If he set them farther back they would have walked forward and then jumped behind. I'm not sure if this is to break enemy formation or landfall simply didn't add in the enemies movement to the jumps but the moral of the story is they would have lost anyways. The jump is part of the cost so if they were able to take out the most well rounded meelee unit (if both armies cost ~equal) in the game as well as jump behind enemy lines they would be super overpowered

Baron, here is my suggestion for TABS: THE BATTLE OF GAUGAMELA! A little intro (it would be great if you include it too, for the public): Year is 331BC. By now Alexander the Great conquered almost half of the Persian Empire and destroyed persian armies in two great battles. But now he meets the main Persian army in the fields of Gaugamela. 120.000 soldiers, under the Persian King of Kings Darius III is standing against only 47.000 soldiers of Alexander. All Alexander's achievements are in danger. This battle will decide not only the future of the Greece and Persia, but the future of entire world! Who will win, Alexander's elite "Silver Shields" or feared Persian Immortals? Units: Alexander's army: 15 shieldman and 15 pikeman as Macedonian phalanx 10 hoplites as Greek allies (if possible in phalanx too) 5 archers 5 spear throwers 10 great knights as elite hoplite unit "Silver Shields" 6 wheelbarrows as cavalry 1 Zeus as Alexander himself (he claimed to be descendant of Zeus, also put him on the right flank as he was there historically) Persian army: 40 brawlers as persian infantry 15 squires as mercenaries 1 mammoth as war elephant 3 wheelbarrows as persian chariots 10 archers 5 jarls as Immortals 1 king as Darius III (put him in the middle, behind his troops)

5th time suggesting this,
FOOTBALL:
2 scarecrows on each end
10 berserkers on each team both facing each other
First berserker to wipe out the scarecrow can say they got a TOUCHDOWN!
It's Just Me Aidan!! Stop begging for it bro
but how ?

@islam aydoğmuş 150 hobbits tho, I think not
I did a tournament,
Scarecrows won

HOW
Being a bone mage is like having a good 3-point shot but you have no big-men to guard the paint
I don't know why but this is the most satisfying game I've played in years. I was that kid that *loved* pitting armies against eachother in rTS games, not interfering, and just watching the battle happen. I loved pitting monsters against eachother in Dungeon Keeper 2. And this... with these graphics and *DEM PHYSXX* ... man... I've been waiting for this. Easiest buy ever.
The Scarissa being so good makes sense. Spears are the best ancient and medieval weapon after all.
The First Primaris Cato Sicarius Sarissas use pikes
@@realhuman5119 Pikes are a type of spears.
The First Primaris Cato Sicarius a pike is a polearm, and is much longer than a spear. A spear gets classified as a pike when it’s to long to use with one hand. This makes the uses of pikes quite different than the adaptable spear, and it is limited to a tightly packed formation which were guarded on each side by infantry (at least by Alexander the Great, the later king Pyrrohs didn’t do this, and suffered much greater losses as the pikes are nigh useless in close melee)
Tl;dr: Pikes are less adaptable, and have less uses than spears, making the difference pretty important
YES! Sarissans are my favorite units! I love their Greek armor.
The Battle of Issos, 333 bc, Alexander the great vs. the persians:
Macedonia:
- one Phalanx made out of 1 sarissa behind 1 protector, maybe 12 (or more) units broad
- 3 archers & 2 stearthrowers (or more) on one flank
- 6 wheelbarrows (or more), placed in a spearhead position on the other flank
The persians:
- just a cluster of varied infantry, a few hoplites, a few clubbers and squires and archers and more, so that they have superior numbers or a higher cost
- a few wheelbarrows in the other side as well
Thinking of it, the Phalanx would be more potent, if it was several macedonian Hoplites deep. And by macedonian hoplite i mean the combo of one protector and one sarissa.
I love this! Please do this again in future when there's more units released. :D
Ranged units get shafted in your tournament because of how close they are to each other
Tyler And Josh yep, if he placed the scarecrows farther back, i have no doubt they would’ve done better
@@ericpeterson8560 3 Scarecrows are able to kill 3 mammoths or more. There isn't the 'best' unit. Most units have their pros and cons. Scarecrows are the best choice to destroy single targets and small groups of unarmored units.
@@Kuhmuhnistische_Partei not only that, but the King and Mammoth is completely random who will win. The scarecrow can kill every unit under *certain circumstances,* but so can the King, Mammoth, and Ballista.
Kuhmuhnistische Partei: Muht zur Kuhzunft! Yes, I know that, I just said that they could’ve done better if placed further back, because the squires wouldn’t have been able to swarm them as much. But that’s just what I think.
24:04 Loved that personation.
Infinity war: battle of Wakanda

Challenge:
How many spear throwers would it take to kill a Mamoth?
11 at minimum win 3/5 times I did this on the simulation map
But 13 win most of the time
If you put the spear throwers in 2 lines, it takes 10
YAY I KNEW THE PIKE COULD DO THIS I LIKE YOUR VIDEOS ITS ENTERTAINING

This was a nice one, Baron, well done. Blitz did a tournament, also, but yours is much better. As you said, a lot of work went into this one, and it shows. Wouldn't mind seeing this again sometime, with the brackets shaken up some.
Do more Project Altieres videos! Love those. I also frequently request that you do TABG in celebration of TABS release.
The way ill find the best unit is by doing like for example a clubber and fight it againts every unit at a time then the same with the protector and then the spear thrower and then when you've done every unit the unit that has the most wins is crowend the best unit (same price)
There is NO BEST UNIT but there is purpose and strategy
You earn a like my friend
On a unit vs unit tournament like this tribe faction lose but on a faction tournament tribe faction has big chance of winning

Bravissimo, Baron. I'm pretty sure that you're the first TH-camr to think of such simple yet effective algorithm to find the best unit in tabs.
Again, Brava.
He really isn’t, there are many. Just google “tabs tournament”. Also, this was a horrible tournament setup, and in no way fair.
@@realhuman5119 At least it's better than most, since 1v1 wouldn't be fair either. Baron just found a way to calculate not their strength, but their efficiency in battle according to their price compared to their strength.
This tournament is well maked
Some guys are making 1v1 just one round
My 2021 Tabs Tournament here are the placements
1st - Jarl - Viking
2nd - Headbutter - Viking
3rd - Pirate Queen - Pirate
4th - Mammoth - Tribal
5th - Vampire - Spooky
This was a vet unfair tournament, the projectile units were put up against perfect counters, also, the projectile units were way too close
Plus he screwed over the berserkers by putting them too close, causing them to launch over the squires instead of into them
@@Haloinheritor117 the launch doesn't do damage, and they jump over typically.
The more you know!
I like how the minotaur and the mammoth had to go up against each of their weaknesses which caused them to get knocked out
Can you do defeat my army 25 knights 5 catapults 1 zeus 1 king 2 scarecrows and you have 7500 gold
Tiger Claw75 How the hell is that even possible? 25 Knights?
26:08 why can I imagine all of the Sarissans hitting the blunt end of their spears against the ground at the time time?
I did this and sarissa won even with all the secret units the final was sarissa VS macespinner
I said that the sarissa were going to have a heck of a run
Nerd
I feel draegast did this better because he tested who was the best unit in groups as well as individually
is that your claim, because individually a squire won't win against a king
King is not that good
Custom battle: the farmer Map with the bridge. one Viking longship as a wall,15 Berserkers+ as distractions 10 ice Archers as a hail of death,4 Valkyries as Odin's sacred Birds and one Jarl as the Army's Commander. Other side: 15 haflights (NOT halflings) 10 shieldbearers ten snake archers 3 nights and Zeus because he's mad that the Vikings won't worship Him.(if they lose throw in a catapult or Ballista

Baron, here is my suggestion for TABS:
THE BATTLE OF GAUGAMELA!
A little intro (it would be great if you include it too, for the public):
Year is 331BC.
Units:
Alexander's army:
15 shieldman and 15 pikeman as Macedonian phalanx
10 hoplites as Greek allies (if possible in phalanx too)
5 archers
5 spear throwers
10 great knights as elite hoplite unit "Silver Shields"
6 wheelbarrows as cavalry
1 Zeus as Alexander himself (he claimed to be descendant of Zeus, also put him on the right flank as he was there historically)
Persian army:
40 brawlers as persian infantry
15 squires as mercenaries
1 mammoth as war elephant
3 wheelbarrows as persian chariots
10 archers
5 jarls as Immortals
1 king as Darius III (put him in the middle, behind his troops)
(credit to a fan i randomly wanted to help: Steva Stevanovic
Can you'd 200 hobbits VS 1 Zeus and 100 healers pls do this😄
Red team:devils army
Blue team:God's army
Red team:
3 harvesters(grim reapers)
20 farmers (devils with pitchforks)
1 scarecrow (king of all devils)
4 bone mages(devils with some magic)
10 protectors (skeletons with shields)
Blue team:
1 zeus(god)
15 hoplites(warriors of Heaven)
10 valkryie (angels)
20 squire
5 knights
Thats all
even though they got anahilated, the valkery are the natural enemy for the mammoths.
I needed a video like this! I cant play TABS and I wanted to know the best unit in an tournament style!
Lets go simple macidon vs greece
Red aka macidon
20 sarrisa pikes 10 in each row
10 archer on each flank of the blue
12 sheild men infront of the sarrisa pikes as covering
Now for sparta aka blue
25 hoplites
1 zues
5 archers
1 snake archer
Like for barons next video
If machine learning gets used in this for sword, shield etc position that would be amazing to watch
If you go to 27:48 it called your
mumbling music with captions...
The Arrows of the persians
Map- Caveman Era
Red(persians)
15- archers
40- squire(persians)
1- mammoth(Persian elephant)
Vs
1- Knight in the front(Leonidas)
3- priests behind Leonidas( the appeal)
15- hopilites with Leonidas ( Spartans)
15 -pikemans in the back(Theban's and asterisks)
Put the beserkers further back so their jump move actually has an effect x
20:10 Phalanxes existed LONG before Alexander, but even then the Sarissa was introduced by his father, Phillip II, not him
i wonder how big could be a giant Hobbit aka Halfling
Try to find the worst unit by doing a tournament for example if a unit gets eliminated it goes on
do 40 hoplites 5 spear men and 10 spear throwers as the Spartans vs 20 hoplites 25 sword man and 10 archers as Athens in the pelopunition war and these are weapons they used
My 4 favourites made it to the semi's! Before I watch the rest, I'm definitely going to cheer for the Sarissa's.
The units has a rolling eye that can be an X X lol
This is the most accurate one of these I have seen!!! Thx dude!!!!
4:07 im not your enemy were friends I have this thing
Thank you for making this. So much fun to watch
1 king
50 squires
50 archers
50 shield men
49 spear men
50 knights
Vs
1 Zeus
50 squires
50 snake archers
50 shield men
49 spear men
50 hoplits
Great tournament!
I would've liked to see double-elimination, just for those teams that met a really bad matchup early on (like the mammoths)
1v1 the scarecrows beat absolutely everything else.
Mammoth?
Jeremy Robinson mammoth wins
@@aidansmith5282 no, the 6 crows absolutely destroys the mammoth
