The perfect dog walk from a Lake District campsite

- Jack is our rescue dog, yellow Labrador and we took him on his first UK Vanlife trip away in our VW California campervan to the Sykeside campsite, Lake District, near Ullswater. We hiked a 6 mile route alongside Brotherswater, through Hartsop up to Hayeswater among the Lakeland fells.
Being winter, the weather is often unpredictable but this weekend we were lucky to avoid the winter storms we've had lately.
Apologies if you're not a dog lover, this video is very dog orientated but that's what our life will be like from now on 😁
We have lots of plans to climb mountains with Jack in the near future including a week long trip to Scotland in a few weeks which may include Ben Nevis, depending on weather.
This trip included some gifted beers from new friends which were gratefully drank but we still have more to drink as our evening was a little shorter than expected.
As you can tell, we love the Lake District national park and we have plans to explore it further this year, maybe even some non camper van accommodation so if you have any suggestions or, questions as to where to visit yourself, feel free to pop in to the comments below.

That dog has a constant look of, 'WTF was that' about him! 😆 He is one handsome beast. Glad he's starting to establish the sleeping arrangements. That Fox Pale looks a bit special too. It sounds a bit like Elvis Juice with a little added gooseberry.

He’s 3 so, hopefully he’ll settle down in around 7 years time 😁

ah, lovely jack. Looks like your life revolves around him, perfect in my opinion. I have a lab and a beagle puppy in my California, bit of a squash in the winter on the bottom bed but what would camping be without the lovely fluffs

I was there last Monday , doing the Great Tommy Campout , it was also my first time at a campsite Pitch 9 , what a great place !!!Loved it will definately be going back :) The pub on the entrance had nothing to do with me picking the place ....honest ;)

Lovely Vlog guys, Jack is looking really happy. I messaged you guys a few weeks ago saying I was saving for my Campervan. Looks like I got it a lot sooner than thought. Ooooo what a location to chuck some fluff! No idea what the stocks are like in there but you’ve got some great Bankside spots to choose from.
It’s less than 10 minutes walk from the site along a very good path and the pub serves really good food for afterwards too.

His recall is pretty good, IF there’s no interesting smells, birds, squirrels or other dogs around 😂
He’s reacting well to a dog whistle so I think that’s our best option moving forward.
We tend to let him off when there are no distractions to avoid setting him up for a fail 👍🏼
Thinking to store my expensive there, were there any bike locking facility? Looks like a decent place to me, hope no thieves
I haven’t noticed any bike storage but it’s worth contacting them as they have a bunkhouse and cottage onsite too.
Great area for mountain biking as you’re in between helvellyn and high street 👍🏼
