Parnell that apple cobbler looks spectacular I will definitely have to try this apple cobbler only using golden delicious apples a yellow apple as you suggested I love your spices with the cinnamon nutmeg and ginger. The filling thickened up perfectly on the stove top before adding it to the baking dish and lovely lattice work with your pie crust on top this recipe is definitely a winner

Hi Parnell! Doing everything in one day as far as prepping the apples and then baking with them is a lot. That is interesting about the golden delicious and it holding it's shape and flavor. They did produce a great looking apple filling. I have never used them myself, I will have to give them a try. I like how you added dumplings to the filling as well as doing a top crust. The lattice top looks great, especially with the sugar mixture on top! I love the rustic look of it and how fun you got a new camera! What did you get?

Hi Parnell, I have never made an apple cobbler! This looks so delicious! Great tip about the yellow apples. I will have to try making this cobbler with them. Also, anything with pie crust in it and I'm there!

    Hi Parnell
Oh boy does this apple cobbler pie look perfectly delicious. I love how it’s cut and serve on the plate too.
I definitely will try this one because I love apples. I have to eliminate nutmeg. It’s funny I can handle cinnamon in apple desserts but not other fruits. Nutmeg causes a bad reaction that’s the only reason I have to eliminate. I’m sure this will be just as delicious, fingers crossed.
Thanks so much, again, for a terrific recipe. I’ll let you know how it comes out for me.
Have a fantastic and blessed day.

      Hi, Kathy!
As always, thanks for your kind words.
I am excited to hear that you want to make it! I think that it would still be good without nutmeg. I actually used to not really like nutmeg (I used to only add a bit of cinnamon to apple pies and cobblers), so I am sure it will still be awesome with just cinnamon and ginger.
The only thing I would possibly change is the amount of dumplings. Some people may not like dumplings in their cobbler as much as I do, so I would do maybe 1/2 a pie crust instead of a full 9 inch crust for the dumplings...or maybe eliminate the dumplings and do a bottom crust instead.
Yes, please let me know how it turns out.
Have a great week ahead! 🍎🍏🥧👨‍🍳

Yes! My mother, grandmother, and all the old ladies at the church put some of the pie dough in the filling (without the slurry- thickens but still juicy). I knew this recipe was good when I saw that and brown sugar and the nutmeg. Never just use cinnamon! We don't lattice the crust. We just place on large pieces that leave openings.

    • @ParnellTheChef
      @ParnellTheChef  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Adding pie crust dumplings to the filling is definitely old fashioned--glad to hear that I'm not the only one who does it. And like you said, the dumplings do help to thicken the filling a bit, even without cornstarch.
Actually, I used to say that apples only needed cinnamon, but after I experimented a bit, I am now set on this spice combo. It's awesome!
You could definitely just put large pieces of dough on top of the cobbler and leave some openings...more rustic that way.
Thanks for watching and commenting! 🍎🍏🥧
