    Hey Mate top job! I fitted mine myself, nervous (you bet) but came up spot on and I'm 100% with you on the overall result "Brilliant" Heading over to Melbourne from Perth in a couple of weeks and into to Dynamotive a tune, A couple of killer wasps got away no problem the hive is full of em😁

    I must admit, I got a snorkel and the induction noise is awesome, you can drive it without induction noise, but it makes you put your foot down and burn more fuel to hear it.

  • @lukeboneham
    @lukeboneham ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Wouldn’t you do this before the tune?

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ideally yes.
      But there was a delay in the airbox so it had to be done backwards.

    Really got me thinking. Thanks for the lesson. Either way, that's good info to have. Hope I can justify my snorkel now. 😅

    did dynomotive suggest installing a ram head and facing it forward?

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They did say the forward facing snorkels are a better option then a rear facing snorkel.

  • @LockyourHubs4WDing

    A ram head flows much better than a backward facing snorkel, facing forward or backward.
    Not angry, disappointed.....😂😂😂

      Hahaha. Totally true haha. But I just preferred the look of the rear facing

    The snorkel looks great Steve. If the vehicle is going to be taken off road and you're doing river crossings then a snorkel is necessary, if not then I would not get one.

      I see your point but the other consideration is dirt road driving a lot of stock air intakes are located in a wheel well snorkels assist with getting cleaner air up high

    Hey guys this is a desperate call for help… my 2013 y62 V8 keeps overheating I’ve changed the cooling circuit and the fan clutch. Didn’t touch the radiator, water pump or thermostat and my car only runs good for about a week or two before it starts overheating again… could really use the help

    • @Australian4x4Adventures

      That's a tough one, I'd recommend a proper diagnosis from a mechanic.

    I don't think I can be in the same room while someone else cut a big hole in my brand new rig. 😁 BTW, for some reason the volume of this episode is very low. I already have my laptop (& TH-cam), on max volume, but it's still low. The ads where at normal volume though.

    The factory airbox still breathes through the same hole as snorkel. If anything the ducting to guard is way smaller and more restrictive than the 5 inch snorkel. I call bullshit that a PDC airbox and snorkel flows worse than factory.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      I never said it flows worse then factory.
      I said it’s not the best solution if you’re chasing big numbers because it’s slightly more restrictive then an AFE box or just the PDC box on its own WITHOUT a snorkel.
      But a snorkel of ANY brand will make it more restrictive then not having one.
      But still better then factory.

      Adding roughly 1.5m of extra intake pipe aint gonna achieve greatness is it? Its not like a OTRCAI on a LS engined commodore is it.
      Look at the marketed words "ram air" on motorbikes, SFA piping length wise but even still you need to be doing +200km/h to see any significant benefits HP wise

    • @SomervilleMetalWorks
      @SomervilleMetalWorks ปีที่แล้ว

      @@82muli the 5 inches in diameter more than makes up for any restrictions. It's 80mm at the maf you have a 58% increase in area with a 5 inch snorkel

    Absolute nonsense, yes any pipe can create a restriction but thats why you size it accordingly. And you're running a 5inch snorkel so this is either click bait or your tuning is a tool
