So glad you’re feeling better .. you’re looking really well ( the menopause can be a beast )👍👍. Your dress is looking lovely, that green fabric is amazing and is totally your colour . Have a good week x
The sleeves remind me of the sleeves on the Pattern Emporium Bubble top. I haven’t seen it but the look is similar. The colour of green is fabulous and looks good on you.
Love that green fabric, stunning. I have to say when I saw this pattern recently I immediately thought Style Arc have copied the Pattern Emporium Be Mine Balloon Sleeve Top, the only difference is the neckline, both have a facing at the hem which you don’t often see either. I’ve made several of the PE tops in viscose challis and the sleeves are divine, maybe it’s because the fabric isn’t as structured x
Hi Adele, I too purchased this pattern after seeing it in my email. I have been looking for this style and have adapted other patterns trying to get it, without success. Thanks for sharing your experience with it so far.
That green fabric looks lush and the dress really suits you. The sleeve opening looked a bit weird to me, but it might be because I’m not used to it either.
I really like the pattern for your dress, the fabric is beautiful and looks gorgeous on you. Not sure about the sleeve either but that may be because it’s a different shape. ❤😊
I agree sewing with care and perhaps taking a bit longer really brings joy. I love your green dress and your b/g fabric - they really suit you and it was a wow moment when you held them up to your face. Brilliant week.🥰
Hi. New here & love your channel! That green is gorgeous on you. Can't wait to see it finished on you. Maybe you will unpick those pockets? I think they may annoy you. Looks a perfect fit on you. Congrats on your loss! 😃
The Amalfi blouse by Sewing Masin has the same kind of sleeve. With a real big sleeve it looks great. But with your dress the pattern piece looks quite narrow. Maybe the fabric isn’t quite flowty enough. A But the dress itself in that colours looks great on you.
The colour suits you beautifully. I think, from what I have seen so far, the sleeves should be a lot wider. If you do not have enough fabric left, I would cut them into a nice wide short sleeve. Considering the short time you have been sewing you do an amazing job.
Pattern Emporium did a top with this sleeve as well and their's is beautiful.. it seems to be a bit bigger and looser.. Maybe you can find it, and see what is slightly different about it. The dress is gorgeous on you! I found it, the Be Mine; Cara does it in her latest video, of SoSewMad
Definitely something skeewhif with the sleeve. You could check Pattern Emporiums be mine balloon top. Same sleeve and looks beautiful. The green is stunning on you..good luck,Ricki in Canada
You are absolutely right, that green color is beautiful on you! I see what you’re saying about the sleeves. Perhaps, it’s the stiffness of the fabric that’s making them sit a certain way. I think the sleeves would be wonderful in a double gauze! Anyway, your dress is going to be amazing! 💚
The colour does look lovely on you. It might be that you put the top of the arm (sleeve head) on the bottom and vice versa because there should be a lot more gathers on the bottom part of the sleeve before you put the cuff on. I nearly did that on mine. Check the other sleeve against the diagram. Sorry if someone has already mentioned it.
You've made a good start on your weight loss journey, brilliant. Love that green fabric, really suits you well. Personally, that sleeve would drive me crazy at the wrist, although it is unusual and I love the fullness of the sleeve. I enjoy the process of sewing and agree that it's much more enjoyable to take things slowly. Also, often means less unpicking to do, too 🙂
Hi Adel Karina from lifting pins and needles does a sewing machine along for the pattern emporium balloon sleeve which is very similar to your pattern have a look she does in depth sew alongs . Hope this helps.
Nice dress, I have actually see a few of this style sleeve and I think they might work better on a very fluid fabric, I am not sold on them to be honest, so will be interested to see how you resolve the sleeve. Thank you for taking the time to share.
I agree re Style Arc instructions- newer patterns are SO much better. I love how your dress is shaping up and glad you are enjoying the process. I always use viscose scraps for my pockets to avoid bulk and it works every time. The sleeves do look a bit different to the pattern picture. I thought they would look like the Delano dress (Ose patterns) or the Be Mine balloon sleeve blouse which are just elbow length. Go with whatever you feel comfortable with- it will look good on you anyway. I too am doing SW and feel so much better for it. Happy sewing. 😊 Lynne
The dress looks stunning Adele I’m not 100% on the sleeves either hopefully with taking on the binding and doing them again will work if not elastic it is. Yeah to loosing 5lbs 🎉🎉🎉 💕💕💕💕
Think you look really good in that green dress. Very slim. I think the pockets feel bulky because the material is thick. I made the cocoon dress and had to take the pockets out as I felt I had a pair of jodpers on. Never thought of using lining. Xx
Lovely to see you feeling a lot better. Your green dress is gorgeous the colour is beautiful personally the sleeves would drive me mad I think but that me....I think I'd change the sleeves but otherwise its lovely
It's great that Style Arc are improving their instructions - might have to try this top. To me it looks as though the sleeve is too long for you. If that curved end section was just below your elbow it would sit much better and work with the shape of your arm. The colour is lovely and I thunk worst case scenario you could just cut the end of the sleeves straight to make a nice 3/4 lenth straight sleeve. Glad you are feeling a bit better. xx
I've seen a vlog about the zalia top ( I think it was Staceyj ) but can't for the life of me find it!!.....but I'm sure her sleeve edge was more open so the cuff hung more loose rather than fitting the wrist ( I hope that makes some sense) and it looked great. Yes the colour is lovely on you and I think the fit looks fine, but it is all about how it feels isn't it?
I love your Zalia dress. The colour and texture of the fabric really suit you - it really is a party dress. I’m interested in the Zalia because I made the Ose-patterns Delano dress which has exactly the same neckline and sleeves. The cuff opening should form a perfect circle that frames your arm. You shouldn’t have that pouch bit at the back. I think you are dead right that your gathering isn’t even enough. The fact that the fabric is quite structured hasn’t helped you wrangle all those gathers. If you re-do it with a more well-behaved binding and evenly distributed gathers it will fall into place. Just noticed someone thinks you’ve got the sleeve on the wrong arm, might be worth checking but don’t think that would sort out the shape.Delano is a lovely dress but, because it has gathers at the shoulders it made me look to wide. I sorted it out by creating a front seam to lose some of the fullness but I think a flat front like the Zalia will be better. I think you have made the right size. It fits you beautifully around the neck and you don’t want it too wide like my Delano! Definitely the pockets that are bulging - not you! Congratulations on 5 lbs lost. I’m in bed with Shingles and it cheered me up too!
I loved the look of this dress when it came out and am tempted to buy. I think your fabric looks lovely on you. The sleeves feel a bit long - think they should come more towards your elbow. I’d cut the shape off and just have them straight ❤
Great vlog as always you really suit the green am on the fence about the sleeve but like you it is growing on me. It’s different and sometimes it’s nice to do different. The point is you look fabulous in it and I too am trying to take more time on my makes. Any news on selling your house? ❤❤
Hello, love the dress, the colour is amazing and it’s going to be great but, those sleeves spoil it for me, unless you want somewhere to store your tissue. It could be the fabric of binding is changing the shape but live with it and it might grow on you ❤
The green fabric does look so good on you. The fit/drape of the dress could do without the pockets; otherwise I like the dress on you, including the sleeves. K
Hi. I agree you have made the sleeves too tight. Also, I do not think that fabric is the best option for those sleeves. If you check out the Pattern Emporium Be Mine Balloon Sleeve vlog you’ll see several examples on how those sleeves should look. If you don’t like the sleeves as they are now you could cut off the excess fabric and make them regular gathered sleeves. I look forward to seeing the finished garment.
I agree it’s the fabric, I did compare the sleeve pattern pieces on the be mine but they are slightly different the curve on the Zalia is much higher and more pronounced - I may reduce it down to mirror the be mine curve x
Love the green colour, but I am not into that sleeve at the bottom. It's like a pouch flopping about. Sorry Adele. Think I'd chop it off and do it normally like when you held it that way
So glad you’re feeling better .. you’re looking really well ( the menopause can be a beast )👍👍. Your dress is looking lovely, that green fabric is amazing and is totally your colour . Have a good week x

Gorgeous colour and dress, I agree that the sleeve may work better in a less structured fabric? 🥰

That sleeve is fabulous! It is so unique! That shade of green is wonderful, too.
That colour 💚💚💚 I’ve not seen that sleeve style before?
I love the dress on you and I appreciate your thoughtful insights on the pattern. I agree, such a pretty colour!
That green fabric looks lush and the dress really suits you. The sleeve opening looked a bit weird to me, but it might be because I’m not used to it either.

Pattern fits lovely, colour beautiful but the sleeve I’m sorry for not for me, so glad you’re feeling better ❤
I might dare buying this pattern then, even if it is a Style Arc pattern 😊 I think your green dress looks fab ❤ and you look gorgeous in it 🎉
That is definitely your colour! It’s absolutely stunning on you. I’m really glad you are feeling better. Feeling heard is half the battle isn’t it?
I just went to the style arc sight and it looks just as you have shown, so I guess it’s not upside down🥹

The green really suits you. Well done on your fab weight loss. Glad to see you feeling better. Take care.xxxx❤❤
So glad to see you feeling bright and cheery, the dress is a lovely colour it really suits your skin tone.

That colour looks beautiful on you Adele x
Love the green dress gorgeous colour really suits you. Fantastic weight loss well done you 👏👏👏xxxx
I wonder if the wrist part you are showing is actually supposed to be the sleeve head, so possibly upside down? The colour is fantastic on you!
I don’t think you could have picked a fabric that suits you more! That green looks stunning on you!
Nice dress, I have actually see a few of this style sleeve and I think they might work better on a very fluid fabric, I am not sold on them to be honest, so will be interested to see how you resolve the sleeve. Thank you for taking the time to share.
Love the green on you! I think the sleeve is almost like a high low hem but on the sleeve. Looks good though! 😊
Just subbed! Nice to meet you! Great fabric!
Hi Adele, I think the sleeve end should be wider. Maybe not gather as much? not sure. Anyway, the colour is gorgeous on you xxDebbiex
Brilliant weight loss well done 💪🏼xx

It is lovely - they do do an elbow length sleeve so I may reduce it down x
@@Sew4serenity that’s a great idea - I think it would definitely look better at that length

Uncannily like the Pattern Emporium Be Mine top 🙄
Love the green colour, but I am not into that sleeve at the bottom. It's like a pouch flopping about. Sorry Adele. Think I'd chop it off and do it normally like when you held it that way
You have the sleeve on wrong arm. The big part should be on the top of your arm. Pattern emporium has a blouse the same that I have made
Hiya , definitely not got the sleeve on the wrong arm - I double checked and the notches all match up x
The sleeve is exactly as per the images on Instagram, I think it's more to do with the structure of the fabric. Gorgeous colour Adele, love the fit 😊
Plus you have made it to tight
