It’s wonderful to hear your honest feelings about what we women go through mentally and physically. It’s such a roller coaster but it’s nice to know we are not alone in all of it. Great to hear that you found a doctor who would listen to you. Your Know Me dress is going to look fabulous and the colors in the fabric are gorgeous when you held it up to your face! 🩵 The Fibremood Soraya would look fabulous in the green fabric with the faces. 💚
Well what a beautiful vlog. So positive after all your difficulty. Well done you. I'm sooo happy to see you back to yourself. You do fab sewing. Here's to loads more. Keep up the good work 🎉🎉
I know the feeling of no one listening/believing you and your symptoms. So pleased you advocated for yourself and someone has listened, it’s amazing how great you feel when you’re finally heard. Thanks so much for sharing!
So glad you advocated for yourself and got the care you need. Now that more of us are in the throes of the Almighty Peri, it’s so hard to not feel gaslit by those around us and those we trust with our care. Here’s hoping things go well from here! 🥂
Adele, your video was such a pleasure. The journey into HRT has really given you back your sparkle. I had a total hysterectomy in 2000 when I was only 42. They put me on HRT immediately and it's been great. I had a doctor once who tried to tell me nothing was wrong. After several months of repeated visits he said "There is one more possibility. Some people are carriers of strep but never develop strep throat. I guess I can test you for that." Sure enough, I had strep! Walked out the door with my prescription for an antibiotic and never went back. Nothing chaps my hide more than a doctor that won't listen to their patients. I'm so happy you persisted and will hopefully get some relief.
It’s so nice to see you glowing … you made me well up when you did 😂 I am so lucky to have you as a friend, you are amazing honey and I can’t wait to see what you sew up this week x
So glad to hear you have got the support you needed, I had to battle for 3 years to get HRT but finally got it six months ago and I feel like a new woman (or should I say the old me) Loved your pattern and fabric choices looking forward to seeing your makes. Have a great week xx
Glad to see you back on the up again Adel. It makes so such a difference when a doctor actually listens to you & take your symptoms on board. & tries to help, My daughter has been through much the same she is 41 now finally on HRT coping much better.I enjoy your vlogs very much .All the best from Dublin Ireland ❤
Thanks for keeping it real Adele. For many years women have only discussed these issues behind 'closed doors'. I am post menopause now and have been for 10 years now. I had no help at all and really struggled with many symptoms, the worst being not sleeping at all. Over the years I became a shadow of myself, lacked confidence, really struggled to focus and deal with relationship issues, depression, extreme anger outbursts (to name a few things) and last year I almost gave up my job because I was struggling so badly. A friend recommended the Davina Mcall book and it really helped to hear from other women in similar positions. I went to the doctors and am now on HRT. It has made a huge difference and I can now start to build myself back up. Good luck with your HRT. ❤
I've had similar issues getting my PCOS taken seriously-- we really do have to be our own medical advocates. My friend, Amy Blackthorn, wrote a great book about medical advocacy that really helped me like Sam helped you. It's so important to be able to discuss things with doctors, and any time I'm not listened to or a test request has been blown off, I tell them I want their refusal to discuss or test the issue with me noted in my medical file.
Oh Adele too many women goes through this and we write 2024,I’m so feeling your relief, thank goodness someone listened ❤hope you will get help soon and start to feel yourself again, I’m so grateful that I’m over the worst although I’m still feeling that it’s not over yet ❤❤have a great week and sending you much love
Oh sweetheart I cried when you told us about your relief. I get so angry about so called ‘normal ranges’ in blood tests. I see a fabulous specialist for my thyroid levels, he asked me what my levels were when I was born. Of course I didn’t know and he said , quite right nobody does because they aren’t tested. The same applies to you nobody knows what your base levels are , not everyone fits into the normal ranges. Good luck with your future health. ❤
So glad you didn't get rid of all your sewing stuff! I love watching your videos. You'll look stunning in that green dress with your bright red lipstick 😊
Oh, I am so glad that things are looking up for you. It is such a relief when you are able to really get through to your doctor. The Zalia will be stunning!
The glittery stripped fabric is perfect Mardi Gras fabric! It has the exact colors. It would be a wonderful holiday fancy dress. I really liked your fabric haul and so HAPPY you got good news from your doctors and are feeling much better. I did weight watchers for 2 years and found being prepared with meal prep for lunches and snack planning were the key for me to eat healthier and appropriate serving sizes. I wish you the best of luck in your journey for a healthier you and making yourself a priority. You are such a lovely person and I enjoy your vlogs very much. Sending much love and blessings your way. Thank you for sharing your sewing and life with us. I’ll keep you in my prayers for great success, you deserve it!
Great vlog as always I was commenting on Bec’s vlog saying I am a target member at SW since 2017 I go most weeks otherwise I would be back where I started it’s so hard to keeping going when life throws curve balls at you. Well done for going back that’s what counts. Love your fabrics and I feel your pain re the menopause thing that’s definitely takes it toll. You are so lovely I wish you all best ❤❤
So glad you have taken time to vlog this week. Why are some doctors so bad with regard to menopause? My friend was offered counselling and antidepressants, but no HRT. We all get down at times and it’s lovely that you have been inspired again by your sewing friends. ❤
So glad you’re back and feeling brighter. Love your vlogs Adele. You’re such an inspiration. So pleased that you found a supportive doctor. All the best. Take care xx
Welcome back Adele ❤ I’m so pleased you have been listened to and even better you will get the treatment that you need. Please take good care of yourself. ❤❤
I'm so glad you've found a doctor who listen to you! HRT's been great for me, for years now! I'm also happy you've reconsidered cutting back on the sewing, I'd miss your videos too much! That green is going to look wonderful on you, and the Lady MacElroy.❤💚
Super cute dress Adele, and you are totally rocking that red lipstick. I'm so happy to hear you are feeling better and have found a doctor who will listen to you. That green fabric is gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing it all sewed up. Looks like you were in a shiny fabric mood when you picked your new fabrics. So pretty. Thanks for sharing all your fun new fabrics and patterns.
Wanted to give you a big hug at the beginning of this vlog x I’m soo pleased for you to be feeling better about everything .. Glad your now on your HRT journey .. love your plans and indeed your fabric.. You have such a good eye .
I'm so glad you're back. I know the frustration you're going through. Even though I am 51 now, I started having peri-menopausal symptoms several years ago. I hated it when my doctor would tell me "you're normal" or "what you are going through is normal". I couldn't get her to understand for the longest time that I wanted to feel better. I felt like my body had turned against me. In just the past 3 months, I feel like I have turned a corner. I'm feeling more optimistic. I hope you begin to feel better too. I'm glad you have friends to support you and had fun at the sewing social.❤
You are not alone my dear, it happens all over the world and in every generation where doctors don’t listen. I’m in Australia my daughter is your age she goes to a women’s wellness clinic now not sure if you have them in England. The Dr there are amazing and it’s their field. You are on the right track now. 🎉Happy sewing.x
I completely get your emotion and it happened to me where no-one would listen. I have been on HRT for 6 years now and its a total gamechanger so I'm sure you will feel better very soon. Try and get either patches or gel as they are definitely the better options for your body. Love watching your vlogs and thank you for keeping going even when you feel low. Take care x
Glad you're feeling better, Adele. I lost my sewjo so had a good rejig of my sewing room. It worked! I'm back sewing! If Butterick (and other big four patterns) make up true to form, you won't need a bigger size range! You'll more likely need to size down with the one you've got! I made a skirt using a New Look pattern. The finished garment measurements put me in a size 16 and I only had the pattern size range up to 14. I crossed my fingers and cut out the 14. It was like a bell tent! I've got that Simply Sew pattern! I thought it might make a beach wrap for my daughter. I hope you'll make it up so I can see it 😂😂😂
Glad you’re feeling better. You look wonderful! I love your glasses, they really suit you and the red lipstick is great on you. The clear bright colours really suit you, that green fabric with the faces makes your face zing, it’s fabulous ❤
I feel so relieved for you , I went through the menopause 26 years ago when I was 40 and my doctor was amazing nobody talked about it then but he listened, I felt so thankful and it changed my life , I hope everything ok 😊
I've not watched you in a while I came back and the first one I watched your previous video and thought to myself you didn't seem yourself. Glad to see you got your chirp back 😊 xx
Missed you Adele! I always look forward to your vlogs, keeps me motivated.Great one today. Pleased you’re feeling better… docs, sewing social etc. Thank you! 😘
Love seeing you happier. I go to SW and reached target last August but man it’s a struggle. One of my whys was so I didn’t have to buy that extra metre of fabric 😂
Love the new Zalia pattern and the fabric looks great. Can’t help but think of the Be Mine balloon sleeve blouse though- looks almost identical. I made the Be Mine pattern and it is lovely. Going to make the dress version next. Good Luck with your Zalia. As for the menopause - I recognise everything you say and it is a horrible time. HRT transformed me. Fingers crossed for you. Loved your fabric choices - so you 😂😂. Lynne
Wow, that Know Me pattern in that fabulous fabric is going to be the bizz, and the Portia in that purple burnout fabric will be gorgeous. It's great to see you so uplifted after your last vlog. I have suffered from depression in the past and I know how miserable it is to feel that way.
This last 6 months I have felt like I was crazy, couldn’t remember anything, way too emotional. I haven’t talked to my doctor yet, but will. Hopefully you will be better feeling soon. Being with friends always helps. Knowing you can just talk it out and just having a good time and laughing is good medicine.
Thank goodness you're back 😅🎉 and more important feeling better. Hrt is great stuff, takes a while to feel the effects but not sure how I'd be without it now! Well done x
So happy that you were finally listened too. I remember that feeling of not knowing myself anymore. Luckily I knew that blood tests don’t necessarily show anything so when mine came back within normal levels and my doctor was saying the same as yours I basically had a melt down until he prescribed me HRT. Took a little while to get the levels right but I’d say I’m 95% back to my old self. It might take a little time but you will get there and it will feel so much better! Glad you didn’t get rid of all your sewing stuff!! X
So glad you’re feeling more yourself and good on you for going back to the drs. I was lucky that I had a really helpful dr that listened to me and my symptoms and did lots of tests to rule other things out but he didn’t think it was worth doing hormone tests as we naturally fluctuate daily. It took a little while but got put on HRT and felt so much better. It hasn’t solved everything but I feel in a much better place to deal with it. Looking forward to seeing your new makes as I’m sure that machine of yours will be running non stop! Hopefully I might bump into at the Stitch Festival next month 😊
I’m so glad you’ve been listened to and hopefully you will start to feel better soon. Menopause can be very difficult especially when it starts young, I was in my early 40s too., people think your too young and it can’t be that, so fob you off. Good luck with it, it’s nice to see you so enthusiastic again xx
I can recommend the book ‘menopausing’ by Davina McCall. I too feel like I’ve been going mad- the brain fog, anxiety, insomnia, forgetfulness, hot flashes, rage, weight gain……I thought I had dementia. I’m usually a sharp person and I’ve felt really ‘dull’. I too had a completely normal looking blood test but will be asking for HRT having read the book. You realise that you are not alone. Xxxx❤
So pleased you are feeling so much better Adele. I had a situation last year when I wasn’t feeling right and knew I wasn’t normal for me and I was eventually referred to a rheumatologist who diagnosed an auto immune condition. I felt so relieved that I wasn’t losing the plot 😂. Keep smiling. You are looking amazing and your plans look great. Big hugs xx
I'm so sorry you were fobbed off....it sadly happens so often. I'm so glad you found a professional who was willing to listen. I have just come across Dr Mary Claire Haver who is a menopausal expert......she has some great content, I just spent this weekend binge watching her as I thought I was going mad and just didn't know what to do!!!!
Great vlog Adele! Menopause is an evil experience for me as well I’m so glad I’m not alone in how I feel about myself most days. I see my doctor in March so hopefully it will go as well as your appointment went. Beautiful fabrics I can’t wait to see how you get on with your projects… Have a wonderful week 😊
Love your videos! Re the Simple Sews pattern, it is super wide and open at the top, and just falls away. I had to draft a lot of 'neck' wide-binding to make it work, and then I sewed pleats into the top of the sleeves as they too just hung with zero shape but everything exposed to the world. I turned it into a dressing gown in the end. There is a lot of wrap, which I like for the skirt. You can look for a youtube on this , a woman did quite a detailed review.Mine was made from an almost no-stretch cotton jersey. I also added a snap and use it every day in the summer.
You look so much better this week. I was very lucky and had no problems. My mother suffered terribly when she reached 40÷. I'm so pleased that you feel better x
I’m so very glad you are feeling better. It’s a shame that your experience seems to be universal among women. So often we aren’t heard, and when our pain is finally acknowledged we burst into tears of relief! Love your vlogs.
Yay lovely to see you smiling. Peri started at 42 for me and dr wouldnt entertain hrt cos i was still gaving periods. Thankfully when i moved i got referred to dr briggs. There are loads if symptoms not talked about but i found the menopause matters forum really helpful, Jen is going through similar so weve had each other to lean on. Wont be at the stitch festival this year but hope to see you soon xx ❤
My husband worked out I was perimenopausal. I just thought I'd had a personality transplant. Thankfully, I was warned that it might not show in my blood because it depends on where you are in your cycle, but I was lucky and it showed up at the first attempt. I'm so sorry you had to fight to be heard and glad you now have a good GP who listened. It makes all the difference. Well done for speaking about it; as others have said, it helps to know you are not alone. The Leah jumpsuit by Fibre Mood is not that different from the Butterick one. It has a tie belt rather than a corded waist but the rest is similar, so it might be worth a look if you can't find the Butterick in a larger size (my size 10 days are over too! ). Loved to see you have your sewjo and fabricjo back! X
Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better and on the up. Peri menopause is horrible so big hugs. Took me over a year to get on hrt but it’s done wonders. X
Great you are back on track , the menopause can be so mind altering and miserable if you suffer the symptoms, it just takes over your life , I had it really bad with the hot flushes , so pleased you’ve been listened to and getting HRT , stay strong and positive you look fabulous, could take you and Becky for sisters 👯♀️
So sorry you have had such a hard time getting heard, but great they are now listening. I have been on HRT now for a year and has really helped me in many symptoms, im 44. I tried the patches but they burnt my skin and didnt stay on so i am on the gel and its great. Good luck on your journey. P.S love the Naya dress 😉
You look fabulous Adele ❤ And I‘m very happy for you that doctors are finally listening to you! I had a similiar (female health) situation lately and can totally relate to your situation 🙈
Such a common experience Adele, for women of your age group and in my experience ( I am almost 70) you just become more invisible. Stick with that Dr if you can. Good luck and so glad you are feeling better just from being heard. Love your vlog. 🤗🤗❤
My 41 yr old daughter works as a patient advocate for the health care system here🇨🇦. And when she discovered all her crazy was actually premeno,(and not her teenagers bahaha) you can be sure she wasn't putting up with any bullsh*t to get on HRT. With all the social media and women empowerment compared to "my Meno back in the day". I was surprised doctors are STILL treating women like we're either stupid or exaggerating. She demanded it (from her female doc). No tests necessary. Don't ask... DEMAND. For a medical profession that prescribes pain killers and psychotropic meds at the drop of a hat. Given that so teens are diagnosed with ADHD and given all kinds of untested mind altering drugs (see if this works crap) But ask for HRT.... And you get stonewalled. Demand it and get it... Is her suggestion to every woman in their 40's.
I'm so sorry Adele that you've been treated like this by your doctor's sounds like you've been gaslit by the medical profession 😢 it breaks my heart that patients are treated like that, so pleased that Sam helped you with some advice and you went in and were firm, it shouldn't be like that but unfortunately is more than not 😕 So happy that you have finally been listened to and good luck. It would have been awful if you stopped sewing. Love and hugs ❤️🤗
It’s wonderful to hear your honest feelings about what we women go through mentally and physically. It’s such a roller coaster but it’s nice to know we are not alone in all of it. Oh Adele, bless your heart. I'm so pleased you have light at the end of the tunnel. Sending big hugs xxx
I'm so glad that you had positive news from the Dr. Well done for staying strong and looking after yourself, thinking of you
Yay! So glad that things are on the up for you 😄 💕
So pleased for you that you finally were listened to and are getting the HRT and that you feel inspired to sew again ❤
Delighted there is a glimmer of hope for you after all this time!!! And you run with that sewjo … enjoy and keep well xx

Lovely to see you so bubbly!!!

Thank you! 😘
Been there Adele - it was horrible - very happy for you - someone finally listened and validated your feelings. Onwards and upwards from here!!
Yes, I started menopause at 39, went almost 8 years. Only had HRT for 1 year…..safe.
Aww so glad your feeling better sending lots of love xxx

So glad you’ve been listened to finally and hope you can get started on HRT soon. Looks like you’ve got some great sewing plans
Great to see you happy again, !! Look after yourself !!
Hi Adele I love your dress you are wearing the red lippy looks lovely on you hope you’re feeling better with HRT I watch you all the time x
I’ve been in this position recently so really feel for you. So pleased to see your feeling brighter. Love watching your channel xx
Glad you feel better about things , big hugs x
so glad to see you are on the up and feeling better.
We all go through this. Don't get too down on yourself, your dress is stunning
Highly recommend a book, The Menopause Manifesto by Dr. Jen Gunter. I wish I had it when I went through it!
Glad you’re feeling better
You look fabulous Adele ❤ And I‘m very happy for you that doctors are finally listening to you! I had a similiar (female health) situation lately and can totally relate to your situation 🙈
So glad your feeling better. x
Glad you are feeling better
❤❤❤
Such a common experience Adele, for women of your age group and in my experience ( I am almost 70) you just become more invisible. Stick with that Dr if you can. Good luck and so glad you are feeling better just from being heard. Love your vlog. 🤗🤗❤
She's back baby! Way to go girl.😊
Was worried about you last week but so glad your back xx Take care x
Glad you're feeling better Adele, peri is awful at times, the things we have to go through, take care lovely ❤
❤
I'm so sorry Adele that you've been treated like this by your doctor's sounds like you've been gaslit by the medical profession 😢 it breaks my heart that patients are treated like that, so pleased that Sam helped you with some advice and you went in and were firm, it shouldn't be like that but unfortunately is more than not 😕
So happy that you have finally been listened to and good luck. It would have been awful if you stopped sewing. Love and hugs ❤️🤗
💕💕💕💕🥳
Welcome back 🎉
