It has nothing to do with emotional baggage. African Americans experienced so much racism and othering for hundreds of years before Africans from the continent started mass migration to the US. So when African Americans see someone with the same color from another country they try to have a bond only to be looked down on or ignored. African Americans were not brought up in a predominantly black country thats the difference, so they are trying to connect to their African roots, that is all. But as you can see they have survived hundreds of years without Africas help so it had nothing to do with an inferiority complex.

As a Nigerian, i kind of have a mixed feelings towards Ethiopians and all the African biracials across North Africa, but definately not hate. All my years of Journalism within & outside Africa, I feel so comfortable and alive more around Africans who actually look like me in 100%, from west,South & central. I almost forgot i was a yoruba Nigerian in these 3 regions of Africa to the point that, i almost got married outside Nigeria, but i had to honor their sincere affections towards. But when I spent a week at addisa baba, i realised that by default, Ethiopians are conservative people by nature. If an African dont exactly look by racial like them, their response towards him or her might appear less accomodating. ofcourse this aint racism at all, but who in the world will want remain odd among people which chemistry dont exist, when there are endless options outside the state.
