The Day Before "developers" also assured us that it was not a scam.
It's a scam. I warned you the second time.
Probably but going to enjoy watching along
@@jayoddityanother the day before baby!!!!!!
Nah, couldn't be 😂
That's one of the biggest faults with The Quinfall right now. The only definitive information we have is what they want us to know.
Reading those discord messages & even accounting for language differences (which I'm not entirely convinced is the problem here), it's the same old story... the devs have been called out for doing lots of yapping but not enough demonstrating. The use of purchased assets _isn't_ the core issue (Nuion is clear on that in his videos) but unfortunately people have latched onto it. The issue is the dev's refusal to demonstrate they have done _anything_ they're claiming to... it's the "trust me bro" approach. Words are cheap, and people are right to question why the devs are choosing misdirection instead of clarification.
All assets were bought
0 creation
It's called scam yeah. They will release a piece of shit demo just to get the excuse :" hey guys, see , there is something"
Epic joke
u know original nintendo games and early ps1 games had bought texture assets? they didnt create them
@@Oxenfroschgeneral we are in 2024 with all the technonolgy we have.... and they just bought everything. Sorry !!! it's terrible
@@Oxenfroschgeneral Not just nintendo and ps1. PC games also used royalty-free assets for some stuff, way before Unity or Unreal Engine was a thing.
Their Steam page claimed that the release date is Jan 27nd 2024. But now it's closed beta from 30th Jan? Also they took down their previous web page (where you had to enter your personal details btw), created a new web page which requests even more personal details.
Hmm that's super sus
Great video Jay! I can't wait to see how this game turns out during the closed beta in a few weeks!
Someone should make a game with all bought assets and call it Asset Flip. I mean there are some sick assets outthere that could make a good game with a good developer.
Great idea, let me take it and NOT give you any credit.
@@DBTHEPLUG by all means do. I look forword to playing a good game for a change...
There are complete games made from asset store assets already, this isn't new or original. Isn't nearly every game full of assets someone bought/paid for from someone else?
@@Zero-Skillz my bad i should have been more percise. Someone should make a GOOD game with all bought assets and call it Asset Flip.
store bought assets is a non issue for me as long as the gameplay is fun
I have heard rumours that you will have to buy the game from their website and it won't be available on Steam which is a bit dodgy if they are going to do a rug pull.
Not only is the game fake, but their development company is also fake. The images of their building's interior are edited stock photos and the linkedin profiles of almost all their employees are fake.
explain how when asked about this stuff by several dozen people they never answered, and the next day required you to put in a phone number to even comment on their discord? yet NOT ONE PERSON has stepped up to say, "The game is real, i played the beta in dec"
For me as an end-consumer it doesn't matter much if they use bought assets. Aslong as the aesthetic stays consistent it makes no difference to me. If it helps them deliver a rich experience in a smaller time, I'm all for it. And I'm pretty sure most games these days have their share of third-party produced assets in their final product.
Ofc the game can still be a scam.
EDIT: After watching some more videos about the game since writing the comment, Im about 99% sure its a scam at this point.
I agree, I don't care about where the assets come from
I don't even care about consistency in art style or aesthetic. If there is good gameplay, it can be a good game. It's hard to believe, however, that this "game" has gameplay at all.
"For me as an end-consumer it doesn't matter much if they use bought assets. Aslong as the aesthetic stays consistent"
Here we go. Already contradicted his own line of thinking in the first two sentences. It doesn't matter, except it does if the aesthetic isn't consistent. *sigh*
Yeah people are all up in arms these days about development teams purchasing pre-fab assets and using AI to assist with development. Why does it matter? The Epic Store is designed to be like this. Small development teams can now afford really nice models and meshes from the store rather than having to pay for an on staff or contracted artist.
Also, do you expect a carpenter to also build all of his own tools and build all of his building materials, drywall, plywood, mix his own paint, etc to build a home? No.
Does an automotive maker build all of their parts themselves? No they don't.
Video game developers should use the new tools to improve and innovate on how games are created as well as played.
But yeah, this game looks cheese.
A LOT more red flags outside "asset flips" right now.
The Redflag waving bigger than Chna, you have been warned guys.
The most obvious thing in a game missing is the UI!
Why don’t these asset guys just make animated films instead of trying to fake a game? They obviously have enough skill to do that much
Not enough animated assets for them to use-
Sorry I had to, their animations arent custom either
@@sinny5404 nah you’re good, my point was it seems really stupid to learn enough to put that together but not actually make something ya know?
let's be honest......this is a terrible cash grab. Closed Beta that no one got in.....due to false launch on steam. Then paid to get into a beta which is disgusting. This game needs to be pulled from Steam and the product group banned, given history shows they scam players.
I won't be surprised if it is a scam.
People saying they'll still try it, and to "wait until you're sure it's a scam before starting to diss it": no.
Please be more critical. Please be more skeptical. For all of us. Nothing against you, you're just being gullible.
You're not the peoblem, but you're part of it.
It's really fishy. The only thing they've shown are assets (I have nothing against assets, even Elden Ring used some for minor texture work, it's perfectly normal), there is no real gameplay (even the bigger scale trailer they made are scripted, notice that all the "players" there do the same exact thing all the time), so it's probably all about hyping up the paid beta and milking as much money as possible
Have to say these things are happening these days more and more. Ppl start acusations before anything even happens, not only in vid games. Just wait till it happens and then complain, atleast you have a reason for it. You guys bored? Nothing to do? Love toxiticy? Your suroundings are gonna adjust to everyones behaviour. Meaning everyones toxic your not gonna have a great time. Chill!
So you also spend your money on psychics until you're sure they're not talking to your dead relative?
Or can you use available information to prevent pain and loss?
"Ppl start acusations before anything even happens"
You mean, basing assumptions on real precedents? The fuck are you saying?
Selling *open beta access keys via their site instead of the steam store means non refundable. Smart on their part, fn insanely dumb if anyone buys into this.
as a game developer (im not) it might be easier to use bought assets - get the gameplay right THEN change the artistic quality/appearance of the assets - this makes sense to me at least.
im actually upset they banned us from the discord server. we had a lot to talk about in that actual conversation. being indie devs ourselves, this studio does nothing more than harm the indie scene more
Nuion as put up another video , this game for me is a pass
Interesting. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. High quality assets = high quality assets, regardless of source. However, originality, continuity, and unique art style go right out the window when assets are sourced from commercial artists. The almost limitless announced scope of the game and the apparent short development time frame have always made me dismissive of it, but it now appears to me that they are simply re-skinning their existing game with outsourced art. Doesn't mean it won't be playable and fun, but also doesn't mean it will be playable and fun. I'm not following the game, save for what you post here, so I will await your next update.
I don't trust indie companies trying to do "genre-breaking" MMOs, in special those who release pre-rendered videos that looks too good for small teams. So for me the rule is: SCAM until proven otherwise.
I would have questioned the short turn around if they didn’t buy assets. I don’t get why that would be an issue to people.
I agree, I don't care about where the assets come from
Are you sure they are not the same people that made the day before?
Can't wait for the people to fall for this scam and complain about it after
Yeahp won’t be getting this. 😂
Shame heh
Yal finna get played again 😂
I ain't never been scammed with mmo's yet, but I probably will with this one for content!
They'll just ban Nuion from the discord and self confirm with that action the game is a scam by silencing any "haters"
They arent trying to "make" anything .... the game is basically an asset flip and the "dev time" is the time its taking these "devs" to learn how to put these assets together .... the company itself looks sketchy and have no credible past projects.
Oh, they do have a past project, it was just when their company name was different. It was basically the same thing, but more runescape themed. And it also (like this one will be), claimed to be completely F2P and then they deleted that claim and made it slightly more P2W then a Diablo game but never took it out of beta :D
@@sinny5404 ah I see I didn’t know of this. 🧐
Game like this always have there problems and delays just look at Star Citizen alot of people four years ago said it was a scam even though they had a loyal following. The year 2023 was the most successful year Star Citizen has ever had if they stay the course and keep going 2024 should be even better. But with all games like these people must remember if you pay 200 dollars in which I think most gamming companies try and get off people for game development you must realise it is a risk. Think Ashes of creation range from 75 dollars up to 250 dollars. It is a business just like any other and that is what people seem to forget.
We dont want to pay for a business tho :c we want to pay for a game
Why don't they get money from investors and not players money.
Getting players to pay to be beta testers is dumb. Back then companies had a QA / tester team themselves or just hire another company to test their game.
@@ryuno2097 I tell you now Star Citizen would not have been where it is today if it was not for Player backing. Some of these games would not have gotten off the ground without Player backing Universim, Battle worlds Kronos, Battletech.Infinity Battlescape, Dual Universe,Xeononauts 2, Ero One (new one just entered Steam) these have all been successful for player backing.
The real question is, if this wasn't for content, would you bother with this game with the information available.
Damn, be CRAZY if this became THE BEST MMORPG of this era.
Game is a scam though.
Pretty neat scam. Create hype about huge game, pretend to have closed beta with NDA's, have some positive review "leaks", start taking pre-order money for early access. Turn your $2000 investment into millions, laugh in Turkish.
I'm willing to give the game a chance, but i won't be surprised if it is a scam.
Turks making an mmo lololol… What did u Think.
Still will try it and still will be better than new world, people need to chill and just play the game and try it
lets be clear you cant make a mmorpg for 3 years, and y i know something is strange with this project, but lets wait and see what they gonna show us!
with UE5 u can make it in a year, because client development would take 2-3 months. Please keep in mind, and that is for all guys that make this argument, New World has their own engine, WoW has own engine, so is GW2, mmos that are using UE5 or whatever version of UE, can literally happen in even less than a year. You simply don't know what powerful tools developers and engineers have nowadays. Since they are using unreal engine, I would say that 3 years are too much time, so I expect something that is really unique, andd I hope it is...
0 care on how the game is made I dont care how hard it is to make a game i dont care how much u steal or buy stuff to make a game : im a customer if game good and fair me play ! thats pretty much all there is to it :D !
Think its a bit rough to call it a scam before its even released… it looks empty and no gameplay yet, but its beta / far away from ready..
many other games buy assets too.
Give them a chance, if its a scam steam will refund our money. No reason to bash games/studios before they are even out.
I am not sure whats the problem with using assets from the UE store. When you have too ambitious project in front of you, assets have the least priority. You can always recreate them at later stage, guided by your own ideas, but for involving players in early access or beta so soon, buying assets is actually the right thing to do. Their dev seems to have pointed out their top priority. There is always a risk for all of us being scammed tho
The dev's image of their company building's interior is an edited stock image and the linkedin profiles of all the employees are fake except for one or two of them. Seems like not only is the game itself fake, but their entire company is fake too.
@@F1rstNameLastName Yeah, thats good to know, I actually wanted to address the myth that 3 years are too little time for an MMO, if you use premade engine like UE5, specifically in UE5, even a year is too much. As a matter of fact most of the development wont be client side, but the backend and some tough architectural decisions. But in the case of Quinfall, yes it can be a scam, but it is going to be a scam because of the reasons u mentioned, not because 3 yrs are too little time to create MMO, thats simply not true.
People and the media ...MANY people praised BG3 a game I consider below average over rated junk so funny how everyone jumps on a bandwagon positive or negative but few seem to think for themselves.
We will simply have to wait and see if we like the game because what OTHER people think should not matter to YOU...people should think for themselves.
How is it a scam when they dont ask for money? In worst case its just a "bad game".
The first test is paid only
Sorry the first open test
Oh then my bad, got the picture its was a "free" open beta.
@@willywonka9785it's a paid beta with a cash shop lmao
