I’ve not seen this impressive amount of weapon systems in a Battletech game since MW4:Mercs with Merktech Pack installed. Specifically, how they all vary within their own weapon groups and ammunition usage. Very nice. But I can see this becoming hell in competitive multiplayer. Hundreds of players outfitting medium to light-heavy mechs equipped with those burst fire autocannons. Doesn’t matter if you’re in a Atlas, one salvo will rip the armour straight off it and breach to cockpit ending in a one hit kill. And since you’ve stripped your own mech down to only carry the weapon and dumped all available tonnage into armour and speed, you can literally snipe players up close and survive long enough to take out at lest three or four Atlas mechs in one run, if you’re a good enough pilot to dodge and mitigate oncoming fire. I remember way back when I used to just strip medium mechs like the Bushwacker and just install one AC 20 with as much ammunition as possible, add a small pulse laser for defence and add the rest into armour. I could take out twenty mechs in a single run before being put down by either PPC or Gauss headshots. I can see this system can be exploited just the same. Fingers crossed they add heavy limitations in the burst fire auto cannons like the occasional weapon jam, faulty discharge which will result in a broken weapon, or having ammunition cost twice as much to use when firing. Cause if none of these are implemented, online will be a massacre with nobody bothering to use anything other than burst fire ballistics.
Not sure why you're mentioning the usage of these weapons in competitive multiplayer, as there is none, but I do agree with your sentiments on how the balance of it would be hell to play with.
Seems like they need to add some weapon sounds here and there, since some do sound the same and would make them hard to distinguish when enemies use them. But overall not bad. Still some of the MWLL sounds are better in my opinion.
I love the idea of different ammo types. Tho there are a few things missing if you played Mechwarrior Online. NO Rotary Autocannons NO ER Laser family. NO MRMS NO Rocket Launchers NO heavy PPC, No Light PPC. The timeline is set earlier than Mechwarrior online.. If this sells well. Maybe they'll bring in maybe the Clans and 3060 weapons. All in all it would be nice if this engine was transfered to MWO.
Burst fire has greater projectile velocity, but imo they just become an "alternative" LB-X since there is a lot of damage scatter at longer ranges. But upclose it is probably accurate enough to nail 90% of the burst at where you are pointing at.
I don't like how the burst weapons feel, the u/ac is ok but its only u/ac5 for the period the game takes place if I am not mistaken. really need that double tap ability for them to feel nice. I always liked LB-X over AC anyway but only LB-10s cuz of time period...
Hey TTB! Favorite weapon out of all those? That's easy: the AC5 burst fire. Why? First implementation of an AC5 that fits the description of the Marauder's Whirlwind AC5 in the lore. Tbh I have to look it up whether it's in the TRO or novels. From the top of my head I think it was described in the Gray Death Legion Saga as a 120mm caliber autocannon which fires in 3 round bursts. Apart from that pretty much all of the weapons sound/look good. Pretty decent job imho.
artemis seems to be a much more noticeable thing with the LRM 15/20 the spreads are noticeable closer. under that and it seems to be about even visually
I ran a Cyclops Slepnir with dual AC20BFs and 3 Med Lasers. Ah, the burst dakka is gratifying. Also, not sure if anyone has come up with a better name for the burst auto cannons yet, so I suggest we call them BACs (pronounced "back"). BAC20, BAC10, BAC5, BAC2.

This is anecdotal, not something I’ve actually seen confirmed anywhere, but it has looked to me like stream lrms seem to have better grouping with a target lock, with the cost being a longer firing time (and thus more time to lose a lock or for a target to wind up behind cover)
@@OrdigTroll they also look like they have a more direct firing arc, where as the standard ones arc up higher which is better for indirect fire for your like catapult buddy to hide behind rocks etc and rain down fire or something. can't confirm really tho just looks like that off bits I've watched I don't really play with LRMs myself I get too aggressive and move into brawling range to quickly so I miss a lot of details like that.
