I've come across many Trident songs when digging for new Japanese stuff to listen to, and while I could always hear how talented they were, none of the songs particularly stuck out to me; just always "yeah it's okay", but always the same sort of thing, like a ton of using the offbeat hi-hat drum pattern thing that's so prevalent in Japanese music. (At this point it almost feels like a crutch for a lot of Japanese bands) This has been the first song from them that I keep coming back to. Still follows a lot of the usual tropes: Intro, first post-chorus, & outro the same. Soft verses. Dropout before the first and last chorus. Last chorus starts soft. You can hear this in like 95% of Japanese songs (and tbh a lot of non-Japanese songs too) that are trying to be a hit. People comment on My First Story videos with "one pattern" because they use this formula so much. But man, the individual parts in this song are just so solid that it stands on its own despite being really cookie-cutter. The chorus melody is so damn good. The intro guitar riff is solid and super memorable. If there was a song to choose to use the cookie-cutter formula and make it a single, this is the one, in my opinion. Absolutely solid song.
