    Big rocks and little rocks. You prioritized Mount Rushmore and the other stops were just amazing little rocks. Love it!

    Devils Tower was some of the best part of our trip. Grandma Shirley made it all the way up to that path and all the way around that path. We saw free climbers the day we were there, you don’t realize how large it is till you see climbers half way up the tower....it’s HUGE. The Bighorn mountains! You could literally spend a month there.

    Wait until you see the Canadian Rockies! That’s a mountain range for you!
    3 yrs ago we did a cross countries road trip & understand the need to hurry to Alaska, don’t want to get caught in an early snowfall. We more or less sped it home after Nauvoo, but Devil’s Mt. was on hubs bucket list. Next time we need to return & go up it. We only viewed it from the park gate.
    I look forward to the Canadian portion of your trip since Banff is 45mins west of me.

      @@FindingOurSomeday It's hard not to...they do it justice by themselves! Phone, professional or cheap camera those mountains stand beautiful. Your photography is excellent so I'm not worried at all. I've traveled that highway so much over the past 40 years (wow! that number knocks me out!) and I'm awed by it every time.

    Traeger makes travel and tabletop models too. Traeger.com. Expensive. We have one like you saw at Cabela’s for home use and a Blackstone table top griddle for our teardrop RV, so a tabletop Traeger can only be on our “gee, that looks great, but...” list. Your video was great. Putting this area on my bucket list. Have been to SD before, but want to go back and then into Wyoming for Devil’s Tower. Always go with your gut. If driving conditions or area does not feel safe, do something about it. Stop...or go. Travel safely. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

    How cool that you got to take part in the flag folding ceremony. I was there on a guided tour and we did the lightning show. We went back in the morning to see it in natural light and found it completely fogged in. Just moments before we had to return to our coach, the fog lifted for just a few seconds before it settled back in over the mountain.

    Ok Corey i think this might be the last one I hadn't seen. The words that came from your mouth about wanting to go to Alaska have been spoken by so many including me. It is definitely on the top of our bucket list. Devil's Tower has never shown up in any of the other channels so nice job finding something different...... Now my only complaint..... (19:50) is a post card picture if your @#$ rig wasn't parked there.....LOL......... And the drone is back...The mountains in the background of the drone ranch shot just awesome!!! .... most travellers to Alaska start out in May, and are heading back by late August because the weather can change over night. I have had snow last week of August in Northern BC, and I bet you don.t have snow tires on your rig. Have a look at the you tube channel Morton;s on the go, they are currently doing the trip , you will see how Beautiful BC and Alberta are in the mountains. If you come into Canada thru Montana to Alberta you will miss the Rockies but if you come into Canada thru Washington or Idaho into BC then you will get all the mountains. Have a safe and wonderful trip.

    Devils Tower was so cool. Loved the prairie dogs there!
    When we visited, the gift shop was closed, so we ordered a retro poster of it on Amazon. We got it and saw that it didn't have an apostrophe in "Devil's", so we thought poorly of the artist's grammar and requested a refund. Turns out the seller was right - Roosevelt's first national monument offically has a missing apostrophe.

    Not exactly sure how your RV works, but do you open up all your slides when you stay in a Walmart or just enough to get to the beds? Also, do you use any power other than batteries for those nights?

    • @FindingOurSomeday
      @FindingOurSomeday  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Living Tomorrow Today we only have one slide so we will typically open it up unless space was limited then we would just open it up enough for the girls to get into their beds. We have two house batteries (240 amp hrs ) with a 1500 watt inverter, and a Jackery 500 so we have plenty of power to just run off batteries for a day.

    After driving through western Kansas many times, on one trip it was clear sky, but very windy. I didn't realize how windy until my awning unfurled while driving! Not the arms, just the fabric. Thankfully, an exit was one mile and I got it rolled up with great difficulty. That night in the campground, birds flew 5' off the ground. They'd go up over a tree then back down. My drink slid across the picnic table! RV's arrived with their awnings cut off! The next day it was perfect and I continued! "The High Plains!" for sure.

    A pro pride or Hensley hitch would let you tow without the fear of trailer sway, they are pricey but they will eliminate all of the sway and keep you safe.

    • @FindingOurSomeday
      @FindingOurSomeday  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Frank Mitzen I don’t think the Hensley hitch will keep a trailer from blowing over in high winds. It is a great hitch from what I hear though, and yes pricy😳 Thanks for the suggestion, I do wish I could afford the Hensley....

    • @frankmitzen1162
      @frankmitzen1162 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FindingOurSomeday if you would have 50mph winds you are probably correct, but I towed our 38 foot travel trailer across Texas and New Mexico this March and we had 35 mph winds, when the winds got worse we parked for a couple of days

    • @FindingOurSomeday
      @FindingOurSomeday  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Frank Mitzen I really would like to try the difference between the 2 hitches! We have a husky centerline and it’s done really well in some pretty heavy winds, no white knuckles except this time. I’m sure the Hensley would be better!

    Wind is so scary while towing. We were in the bomb cyclone in March in NM and there was no pulling over and waiting it out bc it was over half the U.S. and lasted several days. After being shook all night long in 30+mph winds, we ended up driving (white knuckled) to AZ (instead of continuing to our destination since there was supposed to be 90mph winds there) and stayed for a couple days before heading back through NM to home. The Windy app helped a lot. We ended up driving 6.5 days of our 8 day vacation... clearly that wasn't the plan. 🤪

    We actually get tumbleweeds here in the eastern SF Bay Area--about an hour east of San Francisco! Weird things, they are, and OUCH when you go to pick them up and put them in the green waste can--they're very thorny!
    Those trails around Devil's Tower look pretty ADA accessible for a person using an electric mobility scooter (such as my MIL uses)--are they that way from the parking area, or were all those rocks you were climbing over on the way to the paved trail?
    The columns appear very much like Devil's Postpile here in CA--I imagine they're the same kind of basalt rock.
    My grandson was stationed in Alaska for a couple of years. According to him, there are only 2 seasons: winter, and mosquitoes! ;)
