The red safari jacket and sunglasses has always been Wonder Man's best look. Next best is when the jacket gets torn off and he has the black tank with his W symbol.
Gold Key and Dell were not related. Dell used to be a business partner of Western Publishing, then Western created Gold Key in 1962 to do their own comics in-house. That's a large part of why Dell disappeared from the comics rack after that even though they still existed into the early 1970s.
Tiger Girl was great. It's too bad there was no follow-up. I have that one and both issues of The Owl. Always wished there were more and/or they'd team up with Doctor Solar and other Gold Key characters.
I liked wonder man in the Avengers because him and the Beast were friends, the Beast was my Favorite X-men , i loved the original X-Men, i got plenty of back issues, and my favorite X-Villian was the Mimic ! I loved thst he had The beasts feat and wings and all thst ,, i bought 2 old Xmen comics thst he was on the cover, i think Don Heck or colen was the mimic artist , cant remember though, thsnks
They should never removed The Beast from The Avengers. He was different, comedy relief but also brainy. I really hated when AAAALLLL the past and present and future X-Men got back together. I loved that Beast, Iceman and Angel had moved on from the X-Men years. To me it was like going back to high school - why?
@@Randomcomicsfrommyspinne-xt5kq yeah, beast was really funny in the Avengers ! I loved that, and my favorite title from 78 to 82 was two and one, because I loved the Things sense of humor !!! And the art and story's was so much fun !
I loved it when those three were the heart of the Defenders, although I prefer the original Defenders (Namor/Hulk/Doc/Val/Nighthawk). But seeing Iceman, Beast, and Angel carry on their own way was fun. Even Angel and Iceman in the Champions forging their own identities apart from the X-Ghetto was fun.
@@docsavage8640 do you remember when there was an elf shooting people for no reason in the Defenders ? That was really weird, especially for my 10 year old brain ! 🤣🤣🤣
@Rick-mp8tm
I do indeed...on the one hand I liked the silliness but on the other hand it was self-indulgent crap given the writer didn't have a plan for it to go anywhere
Love your videos! It's a real treat to take a walk down memory lane with these back issues. That House of Mystery is a gem to behold, also that Daredevil issue with Wolverine in the "Byrne" costume is awesome! Do you think that variant of him will show up in Deadpool & Wolverine?🤔
I hoped he would wear it in the trailers...BUT...with all the Multiverse stuff going on with Marvel Studios, it may just happen. Looking forward to seeing it.
@@Randomcomicsfrommyspinne-xt5kq For sure. It's gonna be a fun movie! Thanks for the great content!
Jack Sparling on Tiger Girl
Thanks! I only knew him from a Daredevil backup story in Marvel Fanfare, which was beautiful.
Great art. Fun story.
Hey bro, I'm in the middle of reading Super Friends Treasury size from 1975, with cover art by Alex Toth ! There are 2 JLA stories inside, what is your opinion of Sekowsky ? I think Dick Dillan was better, but I think Sekowsky fit the 1960s, any way I'm about to watch this video of yours as soon as I finish reading this book, thank you
Dillin was perfect for JLA in the 70s. I wasn't a fan of Sekowski, oddly enough, until the '70s when he did Super-Villain Team-Up plus some Atlas Comics (which I'll be reviewing on my other channel tomorrow). Sekowsky's interesting because it can be ugly AND good at times. I don't know his influences and I can't think of any pro who was influenced by him. Still, I consider him a solid artist who can tell a story, which is probably the hardest skill to work at than anything else.
@@Randomcomicsfrommyspinne-xt5kq wow, I didn't know Sekowsky did any Marvel books, so he drew Subby and Doom I suppose, cool ! Ill have to look those up, your right , some was ugly, but great also !
That Toth Super Friends treasury is a wonderful to behold.
Loved Sekowsky on JLA and Wonder Woman. Dillin was great but often looked a little off, maybe because he had so much to draw with so many characters. Sekowsky drew better women either way.
@@docsavage8640 Sekowskys wonder woman! Yum yum !! Ha ha 🤣😂
@@docsavage8640but seriously, Sekowsky really drew wonder woman's eyes very beautifully, I really thought she looked great !!!! Big crush !
