  • Make your service training effective.
    Having really clear goals and objectives is essential to learning and improvement. It’s also important to set tasks that are just beyond your reach, something that you’ve really got to work for. If you set a task and you’re completing regularly without too many troubles, then it’ll feel great BUT you’ll likely not be learning much.
    Embrace the tricky scenarios and frustrations, that’s where real learning happens 🤓

    Great video. Thank you!
    The problem I face is jumping in position after the serve. If I am doing this, the quality of my serve strongly declines. As you can understand, this is not helpful in games :( Do you have any suggestion here?

      I’ve done a video on recovering after serve, check it out. The issues can often be individual, so it’s hard to advise specifics without seeing what the issue is.

    I started with your video on Tom Lodzieks channel. I got some really annoying serves going. My dad couldn't handle them at all. Now he's also using them and we're both having trouble returning them 😅

    good service training
    One nice advice i can give u esp. for these serve videos is using a return-board to confirm and visualize the spin !
    Just film some footage from the side serving against a return-board placed on the table so you and we can see where the ball is jumping (and can also see how much topspin is really in it by seeing how high the ball jumps). I use it at home to confirm my spin variations from time to time and sometimes im still surprised when it differes from my expectation beeing more floaty than topspins etc.

      My next one has lots of angles and I use the return board too! 👌

    🙏 going to try it and show it to my son with this video too. I think we often mix those in our serve practice instead of separating the goal for the technique.

      This was more about training methods, rather than technical serving. So, I chose not to include so many slow motions shots. Next one will have lots of angles and slow motion.

    Thanks for awesome lesson Craig. If you have time for a question maybe some other have this happen too - but in serving backspin I probably hit the blade on the end of the table 10% of the time. I thought maybe you've seen this and have some tips on what's going wrong. I've shot video to try to figure it out but haven't caught it on film. When it happens it's distracting and does ding up the blade which I hate. Thanks again!

    • @TheTableTennisServiceGuy
      @TheTableTennisServiceGuy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A few options:
      - Starting slightly further back
      - Slightly pivoting away, when you start
      - Trying to finish with your bat over the table
      Good luck 👌 if you need a new blade from too many dings, head to Bribar 😉

    Excellent video! Do you use your regular playing bat when practicing serves? You've taught us to position one or two fingers on the rubber for better wrist flexibility during the pendulum serve. I'm wondering, does this constant contact with the fingers, along with sweat and other residues, affect the performance of the rubber over time?

    • @TheTableTennisServiceGuy
      @TheTableTennisServiceGuy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, my regular bat. It can have an effect over time, yes but it shouldn’t be significant

    I appreciate the tips. I also like the way you left your mistakes in there. It would have been easy to re-do it. Showing you hitting 25 error free etc.
    Makes us average players realise everyone makes errors. Just gotta make less of them.

    9:03 would almost argue that's a topspin service since the speed increases! Great video lots of helpful techniques and motivation.

    • @TheTableTennisServiceGuy
      @TheTableTennisServiceGuy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If it was topspin, the ball would still curl a little but it would travel more towards the camera. The speed increasing is a result of the amount of spin not necessarily the type of spin.
      Thank you for watching 😊
