Hi Jason, you said colors doesnt matter if you shoot raw, but which raw converter gives the best colors then?
Can you make this camera work well in low light with some special kind of low light lens? Or is that physically not possible with lenses? I'm assuming low light benefits are done by the processing or some sensor.
About two years ago I purchased an A6300! Finally needing new lenses with it. 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 and 28-70 f3.5-5.6 Camera does everything I need to! Paid $550~ for everything including the lenses, Sd cards. case etc. Feel like I got a good deal and that the ENTIRELY a6XXX lineup used is a GREAT introduction to cameras for both photography and videography. Love it.
Great job on the video Jason! Thanks for making it.
I'm birding with sony 70-350mm and + 200-600mm. Autofocus compared to my old a6000 is huge upgrade. Animal/bird eye mode really works. Faster mode switch roll for saved settings is so useful both video and stills. Happy a6700 user here.
Hi, I have just read your comment, I also have an a6000 and I am considering changing to an a6700 o a6600. Is the a6700 much better than a6600?? Thanks
Wow, thanks for the first minute of this video as I was debating on upgrading my 6400 but I only do photography. Maybe next year I will upgrade but definitely not as high on my list as it was before I watched this video. Thanks again
OMG! I was seeing your apsc recommended from 3 years ago,and the newest recommend just pop out😂
Jason I have an a6000 and an a7r; the a7r died and I was going to purchase an a7iv, but I am pondering the purchase of the loaded a6700. The multi touch screen, focus bracketing, and the Ai chip got me sold.
You have hyped me up a ton for this camera. Thank you!! Also, just subscribed to your channel.
Welcome!!
A6600 owner that only does photography - I’ll be upgrading because of the new front control dial which will now let me have the same aperture/shutter control as with my other full frame Sony cameras.
I'm upgrading from the a6500 that I own. As I am getting older and my eyes get more and more outta whack, the advanced auto focus features will greatly assist me.
I bought my a6000 in 2016 and I still love it. I don't shoot video, so I couldn't care less about that. It does everything I need it to do, so I have no need to upgrade. I would rather spend my money on lenses.
Same
Bought the a6000 and started photography when it first came out. Bought another one in 2022 and upgraded to GMII and G glass and it was a game changer. Even the video is pretty good on a tripod. However, I ordered the a6700 for the AI autofocus, better flip screen, and more stable handheld video. Probably going to get an 11mm lens soon and try some vlogging. But you can bet, I'll have my a6000 or two close by. Also, the regular 70-200mm GMII gets good macro shots when cropped in a bit.
@@mitchphotoflixI still shoot with the A6000 myself and I will probably upgrade as well. I think, IF the A6000 had audio input, I probably wouldn't upgrade it to be honest.
yeah, I have the A6000 and I am honestly a touch underwhelmed by the A6700. It is definitely an upgrade but I'm not sure if it's worth the price tag when one has a fully functioning A6000 and only cares about photography.
@@outhouse23 One has to resist the urge to upgrade. It's hard to do, but be resolute.
After testing, it feels like a really nice camera, especially if you require both photo and video capabilities. If you only need video capability and do not want a viewfinder, the FX30 is unquestionably the better pick.
I have the A6600 and I love it, so I appreciate videos like this bro. I have been wondering if I should upgrade.
Thank you Jason ! You are the best!
Picked up an a5100 and a 35mm 1.8 takes great portraits. Been waiting on this release. Better video and autofocus make this worth it over the ZVE10 or a6600. Looks like a solid upgrade but its definitely true with any a6X00, glass is important.
i'm so expecting for your next review, especially the follow focus ability when connect to external monitor, both by hdmi and typec, thanks a lot
Great post, Jason! If the autofocus wasn't so good on the a6700, I would have stuck with my trusty a6000. Although, after about 60,000 a6000 shutter actuations, it's probably close to the end now.
I probably shoot more with my a6000 then my a6600 but the flip out screen is a killer feature for me. I'm upgrading because of the advantages it give for shooting vertical.
I preordered mine so I should have it this week. Really looking forward to it.
enjoy it Joe!
Thanks for another fun and informative video!
I really appreciate you’re not one of those “you should upgrade because it’s soooo cutting edge!”. Short video full of important info.
Solid video kapatid. The rgb panel pro has a nice size to it for travel and regular use.
A6400 and A7Riv owner. If you need the new goodness (AI, menus. video, etc.) and the "reach," the alternatives are the A6700 or A7Rv. A used A7Riv is a great option as mentioned below witha bigger, more comfortable 26 mp aps-c camera or a 61 mp ff, IBIS and the A7 (except C) viewfinder. It does use the larger battery and connects with usb-c, 2 UHSii cards slots. But, I'd agree, upgrading to the A6700 isn't for everybody. OTOH, if starting out and one can afford it, I'd skip over the earlier A6xxxs to it.
The AI improvements in the 6700 are amazing. Like, it's doing AI right just in the background making quality of life improvements like autofocus speed and tracking but keeping creative decisions with the photographer so more keepers
The perfect video I was looking for!
Got 6600.. Sold it to pre-ordered A6700. The A6600 now can be sold 2nd hand at a good price. I only need to add around 30% more to get A6700 for all the good features for a hybrid shooter like me.
Top notch review for a6700. Thanks Jason 🎉
It's a no brainer, its a must have! 26MP, 4k120 and new colors. Day one buy for me and many others
Great video, Jason! I’m still on the fence. I bought an a6100 last year just to take pictures for a family event and then fell love. I do about 90% photos, and figured I’d have to get an a7R series just to keep the lenses I bought rather than getting an a7IV and a whole new lens set so I don’t lose MP quality. But the a6700 really is enticing and cheaper than a 7IV or 7R.
I'd stick with the camera you have and take a course on photography or color correction to really get to the next level.
Just a FYI for you purchasers of the A6700, Sony has wisely implemented the UBS-II for the double-row of contacts for the more expensive SD-cards.
I preordered the a6700. I have the a6300 and like to shoot wildlife and the a6300 only have branch detect autofocus :) So the main reason is the new animal/bird autofocus improvements. Also most of my lenses (except telephotos) don't have stabilization, so looking forward to see how useful IBIS will be.
Already got mine and so far I'm super happy with it. Upgrading from the A6300 :)
Big upgrade!
Im happy with my a6400 and my gimbal. Just finish a documentary for a school and got an amazing result. Still not going to switch for a better equipment, but when the moment comes this model will be in the list. Thanks for the video. 😊
@@zxspectrun516 it is more than enough. Even with the a6700 u will need to use a gimbal to do those motorbike videos.
What gimbal are you using?
I do a lot of “professional” photography and videography with my a6400. But for me, the autofocus modes in 4k are the killer feature. The 6400 doesn’t have that at all and the missed focus is a real pain.
finally was waiting for someone to make this vid been trying to figure out if i want the a6400 to save more money for lenses but hate the tilt screen then i want the a6700 but its more of a bigger budget i think ill just hold off till i can get the a6700
hi this may be a dumb question but the S. cinetone is that straight out of camera is is that graded.?
Thank you kind Sir.
Great energy and information.
I feared that you would overpraise the A6700, but found that your rewiuw was balanced and decent.
I'm "only" a still photographer so I stick with the older A6xxx models in RAW. Thanks!
amazing video !
Thanks, I've been grappling with upgrade from 6000 > 6700 your video is very helpful
You spoke about the colour science. It already improved with the A6400. So how is A6700 directly compared to the A6400. Does AWB now work flawless?
The main problem is the pricing in Europe... a6700 without kit costs 1699 compared to a6400 without kit for around 849.
B&H will be shipping the pre-orders on these in a few days :)
How about vs the A6500 Va? I have ordered on for the auto focus and hopefully better image stabilization as I have slight hand tremors.
I recently thought about which one to restart my digital photography journey with. I lost my first digital entry camera at a P!zzer!a (EOS M200) and have been using film since then. I first got super hyped about the 6700 bc newer, more features, etc but eventually went for the 6600 and even that is absolutely more than I can fully make use of. MPB is great for buying tested used gear too in Europe at least and I ended up saving so much money that I could spend on the lenses instead. I do art and design digitally for a living so I´m into visual nuance and working on images digitally by trade and I couldnt be happier with the results I get from the older and used camera.
I have had an a6300 ever since it came out, having upgraded from the NEX-5 and a6000. I have been waiting for a camera with IBIS plus a weather resistant body and significant upgrades for some years now. I have been spoiled with respect to stabilization and weather resistance by my Olympus EM5 and wanted something similar in the SONY APS-C line lineup, especially considering that the Premium G lenses SONY has released for APS_C don't have OSS. The a6600 did not really offer enough over the a6300 to make it worth my while to upgrade but this a6700 seems to be a major upgrade in terms of the auto-focus, the flippy screen, the skin tone control, better IBIS, improved colours, and the ergonomics (touch screen) over the a6300. The bigger grip does not matter to me because of the way I tend to hold the camera and lens (mostly in the palm of my left hand to shoot, on a wrist or shoulder strap to carry). All in all, a good upgrade even though I am 90 percent a stills shooter with the a6300. I use other cameras for video. I will get the a6700 as soon as it becomes available again in Canada. They seem chronically sold out for now, even on Amazon. Must be selling well ! Then I will finally spring for the 16-55 F 2.8 G lens to go with it.
i was just now looking for a new cam and i think imma cop😊
I do great with A6100, sure the creature comforts of the A6700 sound great, but they are not enough to sell me on upgrading, as for video I don't do video, so I couldn't care less I do photography. One more thing any camera can be for a pro shooter and or amateur shooter, to me there is no such thing as amateur and pro since we are all different and have different shooting styles, and a pro can have terrible images just as an amateur can it's all subjective. Great video, love your content.
thanks for this! will keep my new-ish A6400 for now, since i don't shoot video with it
I just really want to see new clips from the camera not the same clips from previous videos
All the reviewers got the camera for a brief period of time, and therefore have limited footage. After sending the review units back, they're all waiting along with us for the camera to start shipping this next week.
Ah I'm sorry to hear that! Thank you for the feedback! Like Jon have mentioned, we only have a brief period of time therefore limited footage. But we have done our best to film everything we can and capture really clear tests and results to explain the features of the camera. To try and shoot a new set of demo for each and every new video would delay the information. I tried to get this out as quickly as possible for people who have been asking questions and making decisions as to whether or not they should upgrade/buy this camera. Once we buy our copy of the a6700, we will have new footage then! Hope you understand!
@@JasonVong side note, I bought the FX30 an hour after you published this video Jason. I was on the fence between the two, but for my use case, the FX seems like the way to go! Still holding onto my A7Rii for photos - it's getting older, but still can take killer stills! Thanks for the content and making my decision clearer.
@@JonBomers Hey Jon! Very happy the videos came in handy! Enjoy the FX30! And 100% agree, the a7R II stills should hold up for years to come!
@@JasonVonghello Jason. I am looking to upgrade from my current 5D mark ii to Sony apsc mainly for wildlife and landscape photography. I am on a tight budget so I was only looking at options under $1500. Would you suggest I get a used a6600 or a new a6700 for the new stabilisation and autofocus features?
Jason, you need to try Tokina Firin for Sony FE Native, they've 3 lenses, a 100mm f2.8 macro, and 2 20mm f/2 - AF & MF, they're affordable, and you might like them.
@jasonvong would you recommend the A6000 camera as a good place to start, I’m on a budget and want to start a small portrait/event business but funds are low. The single card slot does bother me !
Hi Jason, I love your videos. I am looking for your input, I am currently using Sony A7iii for stills and learning videography. I want to purchase another camera as a backup to A7iii in still and main for videos. I have been looking into A6700, ACii, FX30, or A7iv which one would you recommend so far I am leaning towards A6700
24mp APS-C has really hung around for longer than expected and almost all the enhancement has come on the video side. I think Sony is going to position the rumored A7C-R (with crop mode) as the camera to get for increased APS-C photo resolution w/ IBIS, etc. - so even though I'm considering picking up a Sony crop body, I feel like I need to wait until we get the product updates later this year. I guess the good news is the 6100-6400 are only getting cheaper, so they'll be a no-brainer if the A7C-II/A7CR/??? doesn't offer me any big improvements.
You say later this year, when do they usually announce these details?
hey man, can you please do a detailed review on the xperia 1 V? please.
Yes,
I've got this a6100 and am complainig for the not flip out screen (which I'd like for vertical photos) and the lack of in-body image stabilisation. Do you have any suggestion for the first issue?
Thanks for the video..
Jason, how do you find the EVF compares to the A6600?
Can't wait to get mines on Friday. Upgrading from a a6300. AutoFocus is everything to me, makes or break my photos. I need the AI AF
Nice! This will be a huge upgrade from the a6300!
Share your thoughts, I’m also thinking of upgrading from a6300.
bought. mine comes the 21st-23 of this month les goooooooo
Many of the new capabilities will improve shooters’ photography. The improvements are not only for those shooting video.
What about that hefty weight. Imo it spoils the aps-c vs full frame portability advantage.
I am late in commenting on this video and i want to know is it worth it to upgrade from sony a7ii to Sony 6700? I just want to hear your thoughts about this. I shoot photos more than video.
Does it still drop from 14-bit to 12-bit RAW when shooting silent shutter?
I'm considering getting the 6400 (i only do pictures), there are lenses mentioned in the video but not the specific models. which ones are they?
Thanks!
Thanks Jimmy! 🥹
As primarily an APSC shooter, I got the A7R IV. The size difference really isn't that big (especially with the A6700 going "chunkier") and this way I can shoot with full frame lenses (without cropping) when I want and still have 90% of the features when shooting APSC - just with a bigger viewfinder and better ergonomics.
I flirted with the FF camera myself, actually the A7Rii, but couldn't justify having the larger files.
@@guystokes454 I have had an OG A7R and a6000. As I don't do video, haven't felt the need to upgrade the body over getting new lenses until now.
I had the A6700 on pre-order until I noticed that the A7R IV was going for about the same price 2nd hand - which seemed like a no-brainer as for me it was a "two birds with one stone" upgrade.
I still prefer the APSC setup overall - mostly due to portability and being able to carry more primes in a smaller package - but shooting full frame can be much more fun.
@@JimIBobIJones Eventually I will cross over to FF, I have my collection list already together lol. I have a great selection of lenses on the APSC (sigma trio. The Sony 10-18 & 18-105 F/4). I can say though, when there's 2 products just about the same prices, you do get to thinking of what could be lol
the most important thing I think is new menu system
Hi Jason, I have a Sony a5100. What do you recommend as an upgrade?
All I wanted was an ZV E10 with a view finder and weather sealing... that's it all my needs are covered....
The slide with the grip size comparison, the camera on the left is an a7c not an a6600! Am I correct, a lot of the footage is from your a7r v review!? No doubt the a6700 is a very capable camera.
So the enhanced colors reproduction only affect jpeg? raw color will look like the old models?
When are you gonna drop a video on the Air 3 and your speculations about the air 3s??
Great video! But why did you use the ZVE 10 instead of the a6600 for the grip comparison?
Mainly to show how the bigger battery also impacts grip size. The ZV-E10 still uses the smaller battery which shows the substantial difference.
@@JasonVong yeah but then don't label it with a6600... that's missleading
Which one should I buy A73 or a6700
Great review thanks. I just ordered the Sony 6700. It would be nice if you can recommend 3 lenses for travel, taking advantage this new camera. Thanks
video exist already:) th-cam.com/video/RijCQr8oA_Y/w-d-xo.html
What about upgrading from A6500?
I have literally been waiting for an a6600 successor to come out.... merely so it would drive down the price for a used a6600. But, now that I have seen the reviews for the a6700, I am planning to get that one instead.
When I first started looking, the a6600 was about $1,100 to $1,200. Now that the a6700 has come out, a used a6600 has dropped to below $900, So, that means I would be paying a $500 premium for the a6700. But I still think it will be worth it. I had planned to use the a6600 for just longer 4k 30p recording, without needing to restart every 30 minutes (like with my A7R2). But now, I plan to use the a6700 for my everyday camera, and "reserve" my A7R2 for my "important" photos. Plus, it will be nice to be able to slap my full frame telephoto lenses onto the a6700 and get the equivalent of a 1.5 teleconverter.
Just wait for the 6900 as you'll only be disappointed if you buy the 6700
If I use the Sony A6700 for streaming in 1080p 60fps, do I have to worry about overheating? :)
If I need to buy apsc now IMO a6700 is the best for overall use
Any suggestions on where or how to sell my a6400?
Does mirrorless aps-c camera has future? Will there be new models coming in?
aps-c is live and well. Lots of lenses and now new cameras. You could ask the question do the huge full frame cameras have a future esp now a7cii is released. Lots of the new lenses are getting smaller.
Excellent video! I have the Sony a6400 and only three lenses: Sony 11mm 1.8, Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 & Tamron 18-300 3.5-6.3. I only make photos. I was thinking to buy the a6700 but I’ll save the money and invest in two new lenses: Sigma 16mm 1.4 or Sony 15mm 1.4 and Sony 10-20mm 4.0. Thank you for your help! I have a question: Sony 15mm 1.4 or Sigma 16mm 1.4?
Eu tenho uma 6500 e duas lentes Tamron: 17/70 e 18/300. Estou com muita vontade de adquirir o 6700 mas eu também acho que dá para usar as nossas velhas máquinas de guerra com essas lentes maravilhosas.
Dear Jason, I have a nex-6. Do you recommend the upgrade or should I wait for A7C II ? Thank you
Same here. Pre-ordered A6700 but cancelled it after seeing more reviews. Waiting for A7CII… I’m at least 70% photos.
Great review!
Can it be plugged-in to a computer to serve as an usb camera like the fx-30?
Yes!
@@JasonVong Truly mind-blowing value. Thanks!
Compare to the A7C please!!
Are cages from Sony a6400 compatible with Sony a6700?
I have an a6400 that I'm more than happy with for photos but I've branched into video and content creation and I want the a6700 bad. I have an a7iv for more pro photography work but I'm not dragging that out for some fun little vlogging.
Where are your videos 😂
If a new Sony A7C Mark II comes out soon, that means the the OG A7C will be available as second hand for a really good price. At that point, I wonder if a full frame like that isn't a better purchase?!
especially since the a7c is already cheaper in europe. a7c sold for 1420 incl cashback while the a6700 costs 1699
Phew, the a6700 is a thicc boy compared to the a6700. May need a bigger Peak Design sling
I need to know where you got this shot of Fuji @4:52
Its a bit too much for a aps-c camera. I would save up a bit more for full frame. Im still loving my A7 III and A6000.
I would rather know what sacrifices I will have to make if I move from full frame to this. Have the a7iv . The Viltrox 75 1.2 and the a6700 may be the reason for the switch. I have the a6500 too..... but the battery....
kinda want it, but can't justify the price upgrading from my a6400. mainly doing photos. no video at all.
Upgraded from a6500 after 6 years and no regrets!
just bought a6700 and whole set Kase filters for it. Hope it's worthy.
I am likin gthis A6700 but question, why do you say "it will last 5 years..."??? only 5 years??? how do get that number??? I still have older tech, a Nikon DSLR and I think that as long as I do not drop it, it will make it to 10 years old (with me)
I love your reviews! thanks for making them! Damasovi
How about a6700 vs a7iv?
Amazing review and comparison, really focused on good and bad things and not too many useless words. I bought an ILCE-6400 in May before the announcement of this 6700, it does a lot more than my basic needs but the new menu would be nice to have.
Your English pronunciation is easy to understand for non-native speaker like me, I will watch other videos from your channel
what about 4k24 in 10-bit? it doesn't overheat at all for you?
Nope, I have the result on the a6700 VS FX30 video that was released before this if you wanna check it out
If A7C-II will have AI functions like bird/insect/cars etc., then I would go for A7C-II or A7C-R, depends from the price (if price will be higher than A7IV, then no way).
But if these models I mentioned won't be having these functions, I'd stick to a6700, then straight A7RV if EVER needed.
Lol I thought "smarter AF" meant - Smarter As F*ck, at first LOL
🤣🤣🤣
In your opinion, how do you think this camera would preform as a sort of webcam with a plugged in dummy battery power source?
Looks awesome for that with USB C
@@rsmith02 you think there could be any overheating possibility’s?
@@Monster_Sauce In 1080p? Highly doubt it. In 4K, probably not.
