    I know it's only sponsorship but I'm over 50 with zero credit, I have always lived by the motto, never borrow and never lend, a motto that's served me well, I built and paid for my own house with my own labour and my own money as I earned it, always debt free and clear, it's the only way to have true liberty in this world.

      I only had a quick look at that gable end it looks like at least one of the 2×4 braces was tight, maybe a sawzall and couple cuts the house will have shrunk. The wood truss companies use is junk compaired to the lumber you use to frame the house

    Despite the problems this was a great episode. What ever are you going to do with your time besides cook, home teach, build horse and other animals accoutrements, feed animals, garden, plan, assemble and deliver charity project, plan and edit these episodes, eat, sleep ---- when the house is done? It is such a pleasure to witness your love and play, respect and appreciation for each other and your children. Thank you for letting us be there.

    You called your channel “Good Simple Living” and I’ve been watching you folks for a long time. Build a farm from scratch, raise kids, build stuff, raise livestock, build stuff, organize a massive toy drive, and then build more stuff. I only have one question, when does the “simple” part kick in? 😁
    Honestly, you folks are awesome!

    Again what a way to end a TH-cam video. As you know I think the two of you are great people your kids have no idea how much they’re learning without going to school so to speak. Sometimes I think life lessons are the most important ones we ever learn. Answer you guys know you never stop learning. Keep up the good work and keep getting the toys. Thanks again for making my day.

    Look at your truss prints. There should be a sheet that lists additional blocking and bracing. Generally , all gable end trusses require additional vertical bracing for at least 90% of the height of most members as well as diagonal bracing from the center of the end truss to the bottom chord or wind bracing at the other end of the diagonal. Love your channel and family life. Good luck and God Bless.

    Keep getting the kids to help out on your project where you can, it'll build skills, and memories that will last a lifetime. I "helped" dad working on the car from when i was 2 years old, he still tells the tail if me being a bit of a pest when a neighbour came over to chat while we worked on the car (back in very early 70's). He handed me the jack handle and told me to take the hubcaps off the tires. The friend had a good laugh and said that'll take care of him for the day. Minutes later he hears the sound of the first hubcap hitting the ground. I ended up working in a car making factory and have great skills using either hand for the job at hand. You're giving them skills that'll set them up for life!

    I wish I was there to help I could fix the twist in around 20 mins but as this video is posted and I'm probably seeing it a week later you have probably sorted it. A few 2x4s to create a brace that pulls the timber back into line is all it needs. I feel helpless to an issue that is pretty simple to solve for 2 great individual. If by some chance you have not rectified it. Message me back and I will attempt a video call to show you how easy a fix it can be. Hope you get it sorted in quick time, but mostly don't let it worry you as to the untrained person it may seem a big deal but it's not! So don't let it worry you guys🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

    A suggestion…install gutter and down spout at low end of hay feeder roof to catch water in a water trough. Helps eliminate mud and mud lakes around the feeder. Here in Tennessee it’s a must to try to contain the effects of accumulating water and stomping critters.

    • @SagebrushRambles
      @SagebrushRambles 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the difference with their feeder is that it's mobile. Adding a trough would make it less mobile unless the trough was on skids also and not attached to the feeder. Sounds like a pain the rear. Easier to just pull the feeder out of a mud bog to a less churned up spot.

      One option is to cut 3/4 way through bowed 2x4 to make ' relief cuts ' that will take pressure off of bow, then add necessary structural support on either side. That way you won't damage the exterior. Snow weight will be an issue so more is better.

    my son is now 41 and still talks about building stuff with dad. Jeremy, you are doing it right. he may not do it right now, but he is proud of helping build stuff for the horses.
    The build is moving along, and it gave you a minute to step away and together improve the home , even if it was for the horses. you did not lose build time, and the issues you are having, will be resolved. and yo will be that much more ahead.
    i was impressed with the shot under the floor. That was a neat glimpse! dont know what the fix will be, but it will be what is needed.

      Not that they keep in the video anyway. Taking off the roof and redoing the trusses so that they are put on correctly when harsher weather is on it's way is going to be a huge setback to their timeline and finances. Don't take great editing skills for a lack of worry.

    My hubby & I built our first project together in 1984. I had never worked with such a OCD builder & my first husband & I had helped our contractor build our house. Our last big project we did was our barn apartment retirement home in 2017. This past summer my daughter, her OCD hubby, me & Mooney built our hen house/garden barn. The memories we have built will stay with me FOREVER!!! After 37 years I can’t imagine working with anyone else. But be honest, have you ever thought, this will never happen again 😍😂🙄.

    I enjoy watching you two doing this on your own and knowing when to call in the pro's. I've been building homes for over 20 years and without completely seeing your truss, my best guess is that the wood in the truss didn't get a stiff back. That's where you add another 2x to make a T or L shape support to provide stiffness and to help keep it fairly straight. Another thing before insulation and drywall, I would suggest putting blocking in for curtains, towel rods, TP holder and along the kitchen wall where your upper cabinets are going. Makes it a lot easier to hang stuff.

    • @williamruddell6819
      @williamruddell6819 2 ปีที่แล้ว
