- Banalata Express is a non-stop train service from Dhaka to Rajshahi. It is the first non-stop train of Rajshahi and third non-stop train in Bangladesh. It has started it's commercial journey on 27th April and I was lucky enough to journey in the train on this day.

এই খাবারের দাম যদি বাংলাদেশ রেলওয়ের ১৫০ টাকা হয়ে থাকে তাহলে একটু বেশিই হয়ে গেলো। এই খাওয়া ১০০-১২০ টাকা হলে অনেক ভালো হতো। যেহেতু এটা সরকারী ট্রেন। দুনিয়ার সব দেশের সরকারী যানবাহনে সব কিছুর দাম তুলনামূলক একটু কমই হয়ে থাকে।
ট্রেনের সবকিছুই ভালো লেগেছে। তবে এই পরিস্কার পরিচ্ছন্নতা যেন সব সময় বজায় থাকে। কারণ আমাদের দেশের সরকারী সবাই ধরনের যানবাহনে বছরেও একবার ঝাড় ফোঁক দেওয়ার নজির নাই। চলছে তো চলছেই, যতদিন না বন্ধ হয়ে যায়। আসলে রক্ষনাবেক্ষনই সবচেয়ে বড় ব্যাপার। আবার যাত্রীদের ও দেশের যেকোন সম্পদকে নিজের সম্পদ মনে করে সুন্দরভাবে ব্যাবহার করা উচিত।

Hello ভাই আপনার কি রেলওয়ে ব্যাপারে কিছু জানেন। কোন intercity train বেসরকারী ভাবে পরিচালনা করা হয় না। সব intercity train সরকারি ভাবে পরিচালনা হয়। আর বেসরকারী লিজ নেওয়া train গুলা সব লোকাল বুজলেন। আর নিশ্চয়ই লোকাল train ar condition dekchen. মনে রাখবেন সরকার আইসে কোনো train ar সুন্দরর্জ নস্ত করে না।।। বরং আমরাই এই গুলা ধ্বংস করি।

As a kid born in Dhaka, train journies were a huge part of my life when i was growing up there, until the late 90s when my fam moved to the west. So I was looking at how far the railways have improved since the last time I took a train in Bangladesh, back in 2004 I believe during a holiday.
This looks like a really well maintained clean coach. Though one naturally speculates how long they can sustain that :P
On a serious note, I wish they invested more in the railways. Both commercial and trade. They are the veins of a nation's economy. Far safer than using the highways, and more economically (and also environmentally) sustainable. And yes they can still be diesel trains. Most videos of BD railways I've encountered shows 0 change from the days I used to go on them, back in the early 90s. And probably didn't change since my parent's era. But this service looks pretty good. I remember hopping on something similar back in 2004, it was an AC class.
Though there is also an irreplaceable charm of riding a worn-out car with "full ventilation" (open windows) that you rarely find anywhere else in the world :D

This train itself isn't unique..... The nonstop Journey to destination station is the only unique thing. Almost all recently purchased intercity train are same quality. Which thing is important, is Proper Maintenance. Only proper maintenance can make our country great again. ;)
It has bio toilets which will not harm our environment, it is the main unique thing. I am totally agree with you that we need proper maintenance.
