Kanchanjunga Train Traggedy // PM-KISAN 17th Payment Out Today

In a tragic incident early Monday, at least nine individuals lost their lives, and 41 suffered injuries when the Kanchanjunga Express, bound for Sealdah, experienced a derailment of its last three coaches due to a collision with a freight train. The mishap occurred near West Bengal’s Darjeeling district. Rescue operations are underway by various state and central agencies, as there is concern that some passengers may still be trapped, potentially increasing the casualty count. The scene of the accident revealed a coach hanging precariously. This unfortunate event took place approximately 11 kilometers from the New Jalpaiguri station in north Bengal around 8:30 am, a major hub for the Northeast Frontier Railway zone that serves the eastern and northeastern regions.
During his upcoming trip to Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil the 17th tranche of the PM-KISAN initiative, distributing over Rs 20,000 crore to nearly 9.26 crore eligible farmers.
The PM-KISAN program is designed to support farmers with small landholdings by providing them with Rs 2,000 every four months, adding up to an annual benefit of Rs 6,000. To date, the government has successfully rolled out 16 installments, with the next one scheduled for release shortly. The Prime Minister has expressed a strong dedication to the agricultural community, highlighting that the very first official document he approved in office was aimed at enhancing farmer prosperity.
