The other answer was also from NCERT text book only. The syllabus decision authority then ( in old NCERT) should be taken to task as it has misguided the students. Honourable court could have accorded approval to NTA s decision of going with two choices as correct. I feel that this atom question answer did not meet justice.

No book (including NCERT publications) should and can be treated as the Gospel. Mistakes or even blunders can and do creep in.
In particular, answers for the questions at end of each chapter can sometimes be wrong.
This is not to condone or absolve NCERT.
But is a tragedy that Physics teachers all over India, those in schools and coaching centres, could not and did not identify this mistake in the book for so many years and report it to NCERT.

NEET question needs IIT professor to get answer so this type of question is not assessed by Supreme Court properly . Supreme Court has not gone through NTA guidelines for such question it’s pity that court is becoming professor and teacher with out logic at some places
NEET is not a UPSC EXAM to go with expert opinion. School students will go with SCHOOL BOOKS.

The CJI has done the utmost by listening to the petitioners even though they lack evidence and they were speaking with hypothesis sir. In any case the mock show was clearly put on by the petitioners and their clients, and also the coaching centres for views on TH-cam had stirred up the student community by dragging this into SC.
