That match was obviously silver tbh. They had the high tech units, but they did not even have enough pylons. That guy went fleet beacon and then made mass stalker. The Zerg had like 70 supply worth of broodlord corruptor. No batteries, no defenses, nothing made sense and they just went OOP BASETRADE. Also he afked his army when he had nothing better to do. Expanding bases when they literally didnt have the army and couldnt spend the money they had.

The "how is this silver" moment is the embodiment of silver players watching replays of plats and golds on TH-cam and commenting, "how are these guys gold or plat, I'm silver and am way better than these guys."
I think the eraly game is a better indicator of skill. There are plenty of silver leaguers that know how to klick on the worker-button, but they loose to any attack. It is way more important to have gameplan and to be prepared for all the silly onebase all-ins. I think I moved up almost a full league when I learned how to build a proper wall vs zerg.
We need Beastyqt on here. It would be interesting to see if his experience against so many lower league players would help :). Also that first gold leaguer really let down NA's reputation, and that's really hard to do.
The simple fact the person knows how to stack units makes them unilligble for Bronze. Bronze players are those who dont know their unit and dont know what to do at all. When you see a real bronze players, there will be no doubt in your mind

The first one clearly wasn't bronze to me because worker stacking is an "advanced" concept that they wouldn't really learn unless they looked up stuff outside the game, and if you're looking up guides, it often means you have enough knowledge and practice to break into Silver/Gold. Also, I suspected Gold 3 for the late game PvZ that neither of them could believe was Silver. You could tell it was much lower than Diamond/Plat because of the poor attention to minimap and the APM of the players being so low. They didn't know what to do in that late game base trade situation, where as a Plat/Diamond player would have some semblance of understanding the next moves they need to make and would be spending their actions. Lastly, what this episode showed me is that the gap from Diamond 3 to Masters 3 isn't as big of a mechanics gap as Master 3 to Masters 1, so much as it is the execution of the strategy and micro skills to start separating players based on that skill.

There are people in the lower leagues that play at a much higher MMR than you'd expect in NA. They just only know one or two builds and how to execute them perfectly...but if you throw some cheese their way or do something they weren't expecting and they crumble because they try to over compensate. That silver player was probably one of those people who knows how to execute the early game perfectly and has good micro and skills, but the second the opponent does something different than expected and they don't know what to do and float way to many minerals to try and react
Silver 1. They seem to have intentional expansion timings and build orders. Neither is scouting or microing. Probably both use that same build every pvt and win enough to get to silver 1 without micro.
Honestly that PvT was eerily close to a match I had against a diamond player even though I am in a lower league...I just remember them losing like 200+ mmr while I only gained like 40. Same deal too. Double raven into their third expo with a marine marauder ball disrupting their colossi.
Not on the Asian server (I'm Australian so I have to play on Asia). I've got a pretty solid Zergling/Bane/Hydra build, with 3 hatches by 5 mins, good queen injects and 100-110 APM. (My creep spread is my weakest point.) Anyway, I get trashed in Asian Bronze league - marine drop and oracle harrass is pretty common.

i think the main thing is if you follow a build (even badly) you can get to gold. if you have no build but you know the units and can micro you're stuck in silver. lol. i dunno i'm just guessing.

With the first one they didn't notice the player popping thier SCV into the bunker when the lings attacked it. This is not something that silver players know you can do, or execute.
that silver reveal made me gasp out loud! i havent played SC2 for over 5 years and i was high silver when i stoppped, ladder anxiety was too much. theres no way i was that good! im starting to get back into the game and trying to copy the "Supply challenge" builds as much as possible. the first episode i thought i was quite good at guessing, i tended to get the right overall league but the wrong 1,2,3. For HVTW, protoss reminds me of how I used to play when I was in Silver 2. Though my micro quality has varried a lot from the moment I first came into that league to the moment I got promoted. Still, some things are throwing me off, for example, protoss taking 3rd base so early, and Terran making a timing attack. So all things considered, I think this is gold 3 or silver 1. I could be wrong, there is not enough information, so my final guess is going to be Silver 1. It feels a little less derpy and clueless than silver league, but then lack of micro is making this seem much lower than it is. And bunch of money in the bank at only 2 base is absolutely a hallmark of silver league. As someone who spent somethig like 500-700 matches in silver I feel strongly that is has to be silver league or close by.
Great analysis, but let's consider who would crumble from that timing attack. We're judging a Terran who seems like he practiced some macro, if no micro. I think that attack he shows must happen every game. This would surely kill silver players, so I'll aim higher.

I think the Zerg's lack of reaction to getting his brood lords attacked in round 5 kinda gave away that this couldn't possibly be higher than gold at least. That said the first worker rush being as high as it was is pretty unbelievable lol
The APMs were also visible, at one point during the base race the Protoss has 0 APM and the Zerg had like 30. Also there was a clear moment where the Protoss used f2 moving 2 stalkers away from the natural, which is a small tell of lower levels. (Using f2)
@@bendunko1904 Those aren't tells though. When stalkers blinked under broods, it was gg, no micro could save him. Further, its a base-trade scenario, players might just be actively thinking about what they are supposed to do because there isnt a lot of mechanics required, its more about decisions. You actually see at one point in time zerg had +200 APM. 0% chance this is actually silver.
I play both EU and NA and I’m roughly the same MMR in both (4.2 and 4.3) from what I’ve noticed EU play more standard timing attack based... and NA you get more creative play and play that is harder to predict based on scouting info.
I'm gold and I take offence at people thinking gold doesn't know how to attack, haha. I think that all leagues have people who can do tricks, but the lower leagues tend not to be good against rushes and don't expand fast enough.
You should do this with a special guest from somewhere down on the ladder (somewhere around plat), just to see if they have any idea what's going on in their own leagues

That would be correct, but as stated in the pinned comment we decided to cap the maximum points per round at 7 back when we planned the project. That's why both get 7 there ^^
I think the way the replays were cut up this episode was harder than previous episodes. That's fine and all, but it does make comparing participant scores from week to week more difficult. Then again, because uthermal watched previous weeks, maybe he had an advantage that Artosis and Sal didn't have? Hard to say. Either way, like the series and will keep coming back.
19:55 I think its quite easy. Some higher leagues just make downshifting accaunts to get fun. I met it several times, when gyus in silver clicks like 250 AMP
If that first one is gold 3, everything else must be high level starcraft. lol Gold is cheese league. You don't have to be good if you one base all in.
I'm always suprised how wrong the high level players are about low to mid tier. Sure, in the first replay they failed to stack their workers. But even knowing that you *can* stack your workers, and knowing that using that to attack is a strategy, means knowing a hell of a lot more about the game than someone who doesn't even know that they can build workers. Bronze 3 is 5 apm and zero mechanics. The concept of a "build order" doesn't even apply. The concept of a "tactic" like a worker rush doesn't even apply.
I guessed the first one correct. Gold 3. People in Bronze and Silver don't know what worker stacking is. If you're looking up weird strategies on TH-cam, then you'll get into Gold quickly. I wasn't off by more than one for any of them. I should be on this show. You guys have been playing for too long, and take game knowledge for granted. Last one is probably Silver 3.
I really love this format, keep it up! One suggestion for improvement though: The observer view seems somewhat erratic, e.g. in game 11:50 I literally got headaches. Maybe practice on smoother changes of perspective?
Important! Always remember that League Display is bugged since last season! The MMR and Matchmaking works flawless, but with a MMR of 2021 I'm Silver 3, but get ranked as Bronze 2. According to multiple bug reports this happens to many people, just one of the threads with multiple affected players: us.forums.blizzard.com/en/sc2/t/2v2-from-gold-to-master/17701/2 (Goes both ways: Silver MMR ranked as Masters.) Actual ranking: liquipedia.net/starcraft2/Battle.net_Leagues. This happened to me since the last season and continues in the current one. @Harstem's Editor: Look always at the MMR of these players and not their "official" rank, that may be completely *wrong*! To be fair, I play gold 1 and the people I play against use voidrays vs hydras

Great analysis, but let's consider who would crumble from that timing attack. We're judging a Terran who seems like he practiced some macro, if no micro. I think that attack he shows must happen every game. This would surely kill silver players, so I'll aim higher.
@@godinnicolas5692 His 3 rax hit when the Protoss had 2 batteries and colossus tech. Protoss did not use shield battery. Both players were banking a lot. I agree with this guy that it's silver league. In fact I think it's Silver 3

I think the Zerg's lack of reaction to getting his brood lords attacked in round 5 kinda gave away that this couldn't possibly be higher than gold at least. That said the first worker rush being as high as it was is pretty unbelievable lol
The APMs were also visible, at one point during the base race the Protoss has 0 APM and the Zerg had like 30.
Also there was a clear moment where the Protoss used f2 moving 2 stalkers away from the natural, which is a small tell of lower levels. (Using f2)
@@bendunko1904 Those aren't tells though. When stalkers blinked under broods, it was gg, no micro could save him. Further, its a base-trade scenario, players might just be actively thinking about what they are supposed to do because there isnt a lot of mechanics required, its more about decisions. You actually see at one point in time zerg had +200 APM. 0% chance this is actually silver.

The 7 workers and huge resource float immediately put them at low gold for me. Also the lack of Tempest against so many broodlords and corruptors.
I play both EU and NA and I’m roughly the same MMR in both (4.2 and 4.3) from what I’ve noticed EU play more standard timing attack based... and NA you get more creative play and play that is harder to predict based on scouting info.
Its hard to know what your opponent is doing if your opponents have no clue themselves wtf they are doing.

I'm gold and I take offence at people thinking gold doesn't know how to attack, haha. I think that all leagues have people who can do tricks, but the lower leagues tend not to be good against rushes and don't expand fast enough.

The only reason I think its Gold because he went pool first and hes playing Zerg. Zerg players in Gold only do ling rushes.

I think the way the replays were cut up this episode was harder than previous episodes. That's fine and all, but it does make comparing participant scores from week to week more difficult. Then again, because uthermal watched previous weeks, maybe he had an advantage that Artosis and Sal didn't have? Hard to say. Either way, like the series and will keep coming back.
19:55 I think its quite easy. Some higher leagues just make downshifting accaunts to get fun. I met it several times, when gyus in silver clicks like 250 AMP

I'm always suprised how wrong the high level players are about low to mid tier. Sure, in the first replay they failed to stack their workers. But even knowing that you *can* stack your workers, and knowing that using that to attack is a strategy, means knowing a hell of a lot more about the game than someone who doesn't even know that they can build workers. Bronze 3 is 5 apm and zero mechanics. The concept of a "build order" doesn't even apply. The concept of a "tactic" like a worker rush doesn't even apply.
Not that it matter, but uthermal score is wrong at the end of the video

I guessed the first one correct. Gold 3. People in Bronze and Silver don't know what worker stacking is. If you're looking up weird strategies on TH-cam, then you'll get into Gold quickly.

I really love this format, keep it up! One suggestion for improvement though: The observer view seems somewhat erratic, e.g. in game 11:50 I literally got headaches. Maybe practice on smoother changes of perspective?

The MMR and Matchmaking works flawless, but with a MMR of 2021 I'm Silver 3, but get ranked as Bronze 2.
