  • In "Junior & The Crystal Ball", Taryl goes over how to properly replace a pressure washer pump on the most common styles of pressure washer. There's a few different ones to look out for so hopefully this video will help guide you to getting yours replaced properly.
    Prior to and after the tutorial, Taryl's son Junior deals with unruly and pushy landscaper, Jesse and another one of his wide array of mower problems. In order to figure out what problem Jesse is having, Junior will have to resort to using Taryl's crystal ball to resolve it. Check out the whole hilarious video here and be sure to subscribe to this TH-cam channel for all the newest videos posted weekly. I think it's about time for dinner, And There's Your Dinner!!

    Guessing the "you should know what belt i need" without telling you what they have has happened to you guys a few times.
    Our local john deere dealer had someone come in needing a mower belt. Didn't buy the mower from them, didn't know what he had, didn't know what belt, and didn't bring the old one with him. After getting cursed at, and saying "any belt will work," the gentleman behind the parts counter went into the back, grabbed a combine rotor belt, and slammed it on the counter, saying "that'll be 700 dollars." The guy left cursing, but later came back an hour later, with the old belt in hand, and the information on what mower he had. They did both apologize to each other.

    Been using power scrubbers of all sizes for 40 years as a builder/contractor ... a friend from HS was the local Karcher Rep/Tech back in the day ... never liked those machines .... Maintenance is the key ... change the oil, plugs, and use an antifreeze/lubricant in the pump at end of season (toro makes one) and preferably store it were it won't freeze .... lubricate your hose fittings so they don't rust ... use only soap in the dispenser (never use bleach or harsh chemicals in it, it eats the internal seals) drain unused dinosaur juice from engine at end of season and replace with fresh premium gas with an ethanol additive in spring .... hang your wand hoses so they drain and dry, coil and store properly .... never run a pump without water (run with pressure) ... release wand pressure before starting ... never had any problems other than normal wear or hose/fitting rot except the usual engine stuff like dirty carbs ... change/clean your air filter often .... and turn off the News and watch Taryl Fixes All for a happier life of learning (and helpful tricks of the trade) ... 65 years of experience and I always learn something new when I watch ... and a little laughter never hurts ! Thanks Taryl (and crew)

      You said it all with the sentence "maintenance is the key" so many people blame the equipment instead of taking responsibility for the problems! If they did maintenance on the stuff they wouldn't have all this trouble, of course Taryl and all the other repair shops wouldn't have all the business either.

    Junior is the BEST straight man in your vids...that boy can act. Where you scraped up that cro-magnon to hold the motor is anybody guess....but keep him around, he's got potential.
    Good video but I think most are in the disposable camp on these Lowes/home depot PWs. By time the pump is gone the motor is about shot too. Find some kid and say..."here, you wanna learn how to work on sumpthin? Take this thing apart and see what makes it work and put it back together."
    $249 later, you have a whole new machine, good for another 5 or 6 years.

      Paulsobj Ronnie Jergenstien told me about that test. But he suggested leaving the car run until spring. Only the best engines will pass. In fact he sold me a ‘71 Vega that had genuine paperwork, signed by Frank Vega (the designer) verifying that it passed said test!

    I have seen many times where the customer replaces the pump themselves and in the process forces the key out of the slot when installing the pump, and when they start it up it does not work because the key is missing. I recommend staking the crankshaft along side the keyway to prevent the key from sliding up during pump installation.

I ask, what engine does it have? They say it's a mtd, or a troy built... I say, that's who makes the equipment, but what is the motor? Briggs? Kohler? They are like, I don't know....🤦

    I know this is off topic but I’m curious if you could tell me if a Briggs 24 h.p. could directly replace a 21.5 Kawasaki on my ztr ?
    I realize the bolt hole pattern would be different where it fastens to the frame but I’m wondering if the crankshaft diameter, the length of the crank outside of the engine, crankshaft key size the same, etc so that the drive pulley and pto clutch would transfer directly like its meant to be ?

    • @markoaks8694
      @markoaks8694 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It may have overheated and got distorted and stuck. Several pump manufacturers use plastic unloader valves. Don't leave the pump running without spraying often to prevent overheating of the unloader.

    • @nothanks3462

      Sounds like the unloader valve, I never used or worked on these small machines so don't quote me, but on the bigger 13hp/4000psi machines I've seen we could usually take the unloader valve apart and clean it up and its ok, other times they're just shot and need replacing.

      You think the designers of the pressure washers sold at big box stores don't know that? These things are considered disposable to most manufactures. Otherwise the housing wouldn't be made of cast aluminum, cast iron fittings, brass heads, and plastic one way valves. Then they are run with hard water causing limescale and all sorts of goodies inside making them welded together. Rebuild kits are 100$+ and then labor charges for an hour or two of work.
