Poland I was told that it's totally the same but different as in it's clean clean like some lakes you can not even boat or swim or fish in too keep the water clean in some lakes and the woods in Poland are just like the Upper parts of Michigan. In Poland they have the last standing oldest woods that has not been burn down in war it's a big chunk of Poland.
My family is moving to Michigan in a few months and I have to say….the two things I am going to miss most are salt water and mountains. I clicked this hoping to see some mountains…….at least you have some very beautiful hills! That’s ok, nowhere is perfect and I am looking forward to all the other amazing sights to see in the UP…..I just won’t count on mountains being one of them 😊
I camped at the porcupine camp site and been to the Presgue Isle falls and it was one of the most beautiful and amazing places I’ve been. You’re so far north and away from anything you feel like you’re on another planet. A camping trip I’ll hold near and dear to my heart.
Is this the highest of the mountains in the UP? I am moving there soon and looking forward to all the natural beauty, but I have to admit, I will dearly miss mountains (and salt water!😢). But the UP’s nature will more than make up for it I am sure.😊

My Uncle worked briefly in the early 1960's in the Copper Mines of that area but was injured so retired early but enjoyed the beautiful lakes and fishing and hunting and cross country skiing in that area. I was the first female bartender in the Douglass House Saloon in 1972. Hired by Bob Melia also known as Bobby Good Guy. This was his anchor name when he hosted an a.m. radio program broadcasted out of the Douglass House. I was in all of the beauty of this beautiful building and also the diversity of a wonderful characters that came in and out of the bar. The original mirror behind the bar was one solid piece of glass that ran the entire length of the bar. Unfortunately a college student decided to throw his beer mug Into the lengthy mirror and it had to be replaced with panels of glass mirrors.🪞 Armando Vinelli was the manager of the Douglas House. He was an Admiral in the Naval Reserves. After leaving the UP I joined the Navy WAVES 🧜♀️. I miss the Houghton Hancock area. I miss the beautiful snowfalls. It is truly God's country. Hello Uppers!
advice for eating at The Fitz in Eagle River....make reservations! The demand is so high and the seats few (it's pretty small), it's almost impossible to walk in and get a table. Call ahead.....
I used to live on the Upper back in the early 80"s for about 6 years. Certainly one of the most beautiful places that I ever lived. I lived just west of Curtis between there and Germfask. The best hunting and fishing one could ever want. I worked all over the upper as logging and pulping were the primary sources of income up there. I hear it's still just as desolate of people and beautiful as it was 40 years ago. Gods country, But believe me come winter time even he heads south. LOL

People just don’t care about flint because they hate the black people that live there. Look into the “Michigan healthy fish serving guide” and you’ll find that many of our waters are so polluted you can’t eat fish from them at all.
