Insightful and powerful. So pleased I got out as quickly as I did. I guess that's why journalling and meditation helps us help. We are releasing the junk in our heads.
This is why people can't lose weight on a "diet." We are trying to avoid eating bad food but the first thing we do when we have a trigger is think about bad food - and go eat it
I don't think it's that easy to explain why some people can't lose weight on a diet. I believe most people can and do lose weight on a diet if done correctly. Keeping that weight is also another topic on it's own.
@@oWMatt The fact is that the majority of people who go off their diets keep thinking about the other foods that they really want to be eating. It's just like the concept don't think about the polar bear and don't think about the wine.
Try doing exercise, when you achieve your dream body and get used to train and eat healthy you will value your body and yourself far more than some shitty food that only offers taste in exchange of your health and mental wellbeing
OMG I needed to hear this today so bad !!! 🙌My monkey mind form narc abuse! More you resist more you think...So make sense! BTW Is critical inner voice is the same thing???🤔
Prof Vaknin, thank you for your insightful videos. I'm just wondering if laughter would work to defeat the intrusive thoughts? If instead of trying to suppress the thoughts the person would just try to laugh at the thoughts maybe this would minimise them and then then would eventually go away. The reason I'm suggesting this is that this worked for me. I don't have NPD or any other disorder but did have a year of intrusive thoughts and this got rid of them. I couple of times the monitor did kick in again and they started back up but every time they did I would just laugh at them like a comedian would and gradually over time they just completely went away. Once I decided not to panic about having them and decidedly to live my my life as if I didn't have them (and keep laughing & poking fun at them) they eventually went away. After defeating them a number of times the monitor went away as I knew that if they came back I could just defeat them again with laughter. Acceptance was another part of getting rid of them. I just decided to acccept that I may have them for the rest of my life but that I would live my life as if I didn't and cope with them by using laughter.
Wow. So I like the last projection. Ah this helps with the awareness of childhood plants. Or inserted control bells within so many systems. So how does this manifest within remembrance of institional aspects in awareness? Do they teach these practices to teachers?
What's the best way to get access to a neuropsychologist or qualified psychologist for assessment? In Canada, getting proper therapy and coverage is predicated on a clinical diagnosis.
What about person who doesn’t act in abusive way and is able to discuss possible of diagnosis and interventions?? Does that person have milder form of disorder with chance symptom management?

I just had a thought, maybe dramatisation/drama class would help us x

So we should stop trying to suppress forbidden thoughts, but embrace them and deal with them one at a time?

Oh, oh, don't tell me, it's you, the answer to the riddle is you!
Edit: ah, you got me on that one!
the more your suppress, the bigger it comes back
I instantly knew the answer was going to be Fyodor Dostoyevsky
