- 🎭 LED masks became hugely popular last year - in part due to their innovation and in part due to how cool and futuristic they look (don’t deny it!)
🎭 The 2 main lights emitted from them are blue light and red light
🎭 Blue light can help with acne by killing acne causing bacteria BUT can worsen pigmentation
🎭 Red light can help in anti-aging by boosting collagen
🎭 There is however the issue of safety - there have been reports that they could possibly be detrimental to the eye. The best way to take care of this is by closing your eyes
🎭 Studies showing the results of LED therapy have been conducted over a period of 12 weeks so you need to use it consistently over that much time to see an improvement
🎭 IMPORTANT: these are an additional product in your skincare routine and are cannot replace your skincare routine. It is by no means necessary to have this!
🎭 My experience - I bought into the hype and purchased the mask myself. However it’s impossible for me to sit with my eyes closed for 20 mins a day🙈
🎭 If you are using these, use them after exfoliation so the light can penetrate deeper
🎭 Interestingly, people demonise blue lights from gadgets but are perfectly ok with blue lights from masks😅
