It does exist, but there is another word for it that has been used for far longer, its called being patronizing. Its not something only men could do, and the reason people have a problem with the concept of mansplaining, is its a word specifically made to make it look like only guys do it, when in reality only jerks do it, both men and women.

i feel like mansplaining wasn't coined as a term bc people only think men do it. i think the reason it has a specific gendered term is that some men assume women aren't as smart as they are / don't have the same interests as them (like for example in STEM), but wouldn't assume a fellow man is less educated about whatever topic what discussed.
like some men with a casual interest in technology explain concepts of it to women with careers in CS; male doctors' opinions are more valued than females' even if they say the same thing, and credit is given to the man for it even if the woman said it first; etc. like it's a component of the phenomenon of some men inherently seeing themself as smarter than women and groups prioritizing men's opinions and insight over women's

See, I actually agree to some extent, because I have personally seen guys do that, in regards to fields like Stem, and things like carpentry and stuff. Like "real manly" stuff, lol.
However, I have seen the opposite as well, with patronizing mothers talking down to guys about their children and some similar things (to be completely honest I've seen guys doing it to other guys, and women doing it to other women).
I agree that the examples you brought up, do happen alot, and are a relevant issue today, however I personally feel that the usage of mansplaining misplaces the blame, someone isn't doing that because they're a man, they're patronizing because of pride (in my opinion) and/or an ignorant reliance on stereotypes (which tbf statistically has some merit, if you don't mind just being an absolute jerk to everyone in hopes that you might be right).
All types of people can know and specialize in all kinds of things, thats why its weird to me, to make a frankly common thing, into a primarily male issue, when theoretically the whole point of the word was to combat stereotyping people (women), as ignorant to certain issues.
Once again, I agree that the phenomenon is there, I just don't think its only a male dominated issue, hence I don't think mansplaining is a good way of putting it.
P.s. I do also think it is used very loosely and dismissively towards guys, even when it doesn't make sense, but I feel thats another issue entirely.
TL;DR Mansplaining seems to emphasize that it is a male trait of some kind. Which is kind of counter to the whole idea, of anybody could be interested in anything idea (imho)
