tbh they feel designed to be played as a bit more flexible(?), aggressive mid-backline. their range is in the same bracket as like jet squelcher at this point, and the roll is SO committal that it straight up feels designed to be anchoring just like a splatling charge. the inkmine/wail kit is also super backline-y. it honestly feels way safer to just space and poke with spread fire than to dodge and plant your feet, unless you KNOW you're at range and can trust your aim, and aren't being outnumbered.
Most Dualies use their dodge rolls more as a defensive tool, literally dodging attacks but with Douser the dodge roll seems to be for offence primarily, Dualies with 2 or more rolls can use them to be harder to hit while keeping offensive pressure, zipping back and forth or going all the way to one side but the Douser can't play those mind games so the idea seems to be a more aggressive "push in and splat them before they can retaliate" a more surprise attack style, I'm curious what a second kit could do as having a bomb for poking could be really good. Also maybe I'm crazy but I think Ink Refill might be better than Saver with Dousers as the individual shot aren't that ink hungry.
I can concur with this. It feels like once you get some hits with the long range, you dodge roll forward immediately to guarantee the kill with the faster fire rate.
Lots of the new weapons seem to be made so that you play them very aggressive. I really like how it changes up the role of dualies and dodge rolls, although I do hope they make it slightly more ink efficient.
Something neat I just noticed about the Dousers today, and I think might have a hand in why I like them - the dodge roll distance is the same total distance as the dapple dodge rolls! They almost feel like long range dapples, to me, and I kinda love it. Dapples were some of the earliest dualies I picked up in Splatoon 3, they really helped me get better at the game, and so it’s neat to have something that feels like an Evolution of them
Douser dualies is definitely already one of my favorites already it may not paint well and have a lot of ink usage, but the range and shooting speed is incredible!
I'm not good at gear building, but I feel like Ink Recovery works really well on it. More so than Ink Saver Main, cause I feel like you still run out of ink too quickly with only ISM. But, Ink Recovery can quickly give you enough ink, from empty, to get a roll and enough shots to take out someone with some leeway. It's still early and I'm not good with gear, but I just wanted to share my thoughts.
I really enjoy the weapon, however it really messes with me because I main splat duallies. Having only one roll and such a huge ink consumption makes it feel a little clunky Cant wait for more douser duallie vids from you Chase🙌❤
Ink recovery + main saver lets me cover the entire map in ink at lightspeed, spec charge for wail spam, ink mines just to annoy the enemy, range to rival jet squelcher, insane firerate. Im def using this before it gets nerfed cuz OMG ITS OP!

Played terribly with the Dousers last night Watched half this video, went 15/4 and 13/4 in the first two turf wars I picked this thing up in Coincidence? I think NOT
Even though both of their gimmicks are generally "range", they're actually quite a bit different. Squelchers have jump tech and that little slide after each roll, giving it a ton more mobility over dousers with their one roll. But dousers get an advantage on having both more range before a roll and more damage after. I would guess that you're really used to the mobility of the squelchers, which can make the transition to dousers difficult. You'd need to learn how to lean into the dousers' advantages, which may not be worth it for some people.
I was really surprised to see its damage in-game, in the trailers it was a 5 shot but it seems they fixed it to a 4 shot Now do that to Nova, Splatoon devs. Let it finally leave behind its nickname of "Long Aerospray"
@@NotSnak what strengths does Nova even have aside just being a shooter? It's okay to like it and all, this is someone who plays Short Aerospray talking, but the Long Aerospray really needs buffs
@@Pearl_Blossom Nova is a weird one. It fires pretty quickly and has long range so its pretty decent at pestering people from afar. Because its a shooter is can go in and out of ink faster than other weapons its speedy. It's worse than dualie squelchers, actually. The difference though is that Douser's bullets are bigger so it can kind of compensate. I'd say with that its even with dualie squelchers, both are terrible though
@@Chase247 That's right, I forgot about the bullet size difference, thanks for reminding me. It still felt better than squelchers' for me, but that might just be a psychological thing. Haven't taken a look at the stats yet so not gonna pretend I have any authority on that.
@@br_matias_br Maybe it helps that since the spread mode is longer range, you're less likely to get punished by missing shots. So it seems like it's being more effective. Or it could be the chonk bullets, idk lol
@@Fisherington The range might be it, yeah. I went to the wiki to check the shot spread angles but didn't find squelchers' ground angle in the S3 section of data, so it probably hasn't changed since S2 (I never played S2). According to the wiki, the maximum grounded shot deviation angle for squelchers is 4 degrees, compared to dousers' 2.5 degrees and they share the aerial deviation of 8 degrees. The extra range dousers have over squelchers might make their shots land further from their targets at max range than the latter, even with their deviation being lower. Dousers' shot hitbox having a 25% larger radius makes up for the previous distance-from-target difference and makes both weapons end up feeling even, as Chase described.
