Yeah Tony, these botany walks with you over the years have proven to be ‘extremely beneficial’ for myself and countless others. Timeless content, this shit will age like a fine wine. Now go fuck ya’self, bye!
I don't think he did, he was talking about how lonely it must be for the euphorbia up on that ridge with no other plants. Also he mentioned incredible place. Those areas in South Africa are crazy, I know because I was born there, The Valley of Desolation in Graaff-Reinet is another place that does that to you

incredible Ficus, what an alien looking place, I’m sure the video doesn’t do the terrain justice. I sure hope you don’t stop making these videos, I look forward to each one!
So glad your videos are available for free, I’ve been having financial trouble and couldn’t afford TH-cam premium or your Patreon anymore :(. Once I get some funds I’ll be supporting you again on Patreon but until then, thank you so much for these inspirational, entertaining, uplifting and beautiful videos. It’s needed in this bleak shitstorm out here. Thank you so much man, nothing has ever inspired me to keep learning and not give up as much as your videos and podcasts. ✌️💚
Was just thinking about how I hadn’t seen another video from you in South Africa lately, and not 1 minute later this pops up… and transports me instantly away from the doom I was reading about. Thank you for the escape I needed. 👍
423 views and 332 likes: that is an incredible like to view ratio at the moment. Well deserved: that lotto ticket rant was pure gold And congrats on finding that new-to-science species
The Africa content is great, we are lucky to have you as our guide to these wonderful, beautiful plants; I'd never see this without CPBBD. Thanks Tony!
I was fascinated by that Cleome angustifolia @ 16:44 and then the Euphorb next to it, and of course the one at the end was nice too. But that Cleome! Looks like a hydra (the aquatic organism, not the mythological beast) and I could not get enough of that one. Thanks for that, as always!
You'll be glad to hear that area got some very good rain yesterday. From 5 to 30mm of rain was recorded. Second time in 30 days that desert got rain so this will be their wettest year since 2013 🌧️
I don’t have the mobility I used to have. I really enjoy watching your videos. I love to explore with the truck and dog and get way off the beaten path. Your reverence for nature is what this world lacks. Please keep up the great work.
The sound at 15:12 made me kinda jump a little what the fuck. Otherwise a great video, crazy how much beauty over there! And that rocky canyon with the ancient Ficus has a serene and somewhat alien vibe to it
Never boring.. we have similar brains and I am kn constant awe of the natural world.. Some of the most beautiful plants, thanks so much for sharing. You are the most awesome botanist! I would so love to have an uncle like you. Much love 💕
Don't worry about being entertaining. Your encyclopedic knowledge of plants is always fascinating. I know learning how the rocks and soil as well as climate and the predators affect the evolution of the plants in any one spot. I really appreciate how amazingly adaptive plants are. I do long for a visit to a place that doesn't feel like it's been completely trampled by people. I'm not sure where that could be...up in the artic circle I guess.
That doorbell sound effect made my dog growl and be upset nice but I always appreciate your content after a long day thoroughly encapsulated by the human tumor. It renews my wonder in the world. Thank you.

Thank you for what you’re doing. I’m sitting on my little Santa Fe patio being with the native and probably a few not native food plants that have made it through this summer so far with me. I’m thankful for being able to listen to you. Thankful AF.
Ahh, yeah!!! Another banging episode. Foul smelling shrubs, and maybe a new species? The geology in that wash out area was nuts. Cheers, from Southern Oregon

Hey buddy! Have you ever thought of going back to the home country? (Italy) and saying hello to and teaching us about all those beautiful Mediterranean plants?
the rogeria longiflora , looks so much like the sonoran desert devils claw. Makes sense it being very related, they too smell like death!! Beautiful flowers on both .
Wow, 20:00 really did look like dead cacti. This trip has been better than I hoped for and you haven’t even gotten into the African plants I love the best.
Huh, the sandstone-y rock towards the end is (superficially?) very similar to the sedimentary rock in the coast range of Oregon. Most of that material is very crumbly, but some of it (mostly near the Columbia River Basalt flows) is surprisingly well metamorphosed. However, those pieces also have a more obsidian-like appearance. Would love to know what that Namibian sandstone is left over from.
Hey man, been watching your stuff for the past few months. Gotten me into a big botany kick. I've been growing (sometimes trying with horrible results) many of the species you show in your videos. I have an oddish video request which may be out of your focus. Are you able to do a video about growing species to conserve them? (if that makes sense).
