Nissan actually deserves a better place in Indian market. They should promote well. CBU vehicles are costly. Renault triber should upgrade to 1.2 ltr naturally aspirated petrol engine, turbo, cng....so many engine options trim levels should be available. Renault triber is superb car just they need good pick up-to-date a powerful engine. Renault kiger rear seat experience is not feeling airy. Kwid can be used in city. Compact car. Nissan now in Japan, they have very good options of cars; even most of the rental car companies stock hybrid for their customers' usage. Because of this nissan note hybrid are there in many places. It is so joyful to ride and it has lot of options. And Nissan leaf is so good as an EV. I wish Nissan X-trail is released in India. Can you pls explain why these cars are unable to released in India? they need not be released as direct assembled cars. Why can't they use the designs (usually in PLM) and make them in Indian plants? Is there any limitations by Indian governments for designs to be made in India?
The tooling and infrastructure costs for a new model are very high. Even if the design is in place. Just getting the tooling for manufacturing is a very expensive thing. And in addition, the parts from OEM suppliers need to be negotiated and quality controlled. A different model also needs thorough testing over a span of 1 to 2 years in local conditions. And then, market research, marketing, sales and employee orientation etc are all expenses that run into billions. They need to get returns on such big expenses. If people decide not to buy, all that capital will go to waste. This is why only 3 or 4 brands release new models in India. The rest are just facelifts or rebadged versions
