    hi i hope you can see this message, i have one quick question: is your manometer reading in centimeters or millimeters? i used this exact apparatus and i am currently writing a lab report on it
    thank you

    Can you tell me the components of the machine? Especially the hose and fittings used for the pressure of water be read by the manometer

    • @medoKhatat
      @medoKhatat  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It just a water pump connected to water tank, and different sizes of pipes. in order to study the pressure drop you have to connect the two hoses of manometers to two points you want to measure the pressure differences between.

      This experiment is used to determine the pressure drop in pipes, which is used to calculate the friction factor of the pipe by applying Bernoulli equation.

      Yes, You can study the friction loss in different pipes roughness and compare the experimental results with Moody Chart

    Why is head loss different in contraction and expansion

    • @medoKhatat
      @medoKhatat  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because there is another contribution to the pressure drop which is the change of kinetic energy due to diameter. Apply Bernoulli equation to get it

      Accelerating a fluid causes less losses than decelerating it.

    the manometer reading are real losses?
    manometer tubes are connected at the top and working air?
    Study the pipe is 1"?
    sorry, I dont speak english! xD

    • @medoKhatat

      Hi Jose,
      Any manometer when connected between any two points it reads the pressure loss between those two points by applying the Law (pressure drop=manometer drop x density of the manometer solution x gravity). Pressure drop represents amount of energy lost per unit mass between the two measured point by applying Bernoulli equation

      Oh very well. Thank you!
      my question is because I want to know how to calculate an estimated height of liquid in the Manometer, I use the ideal gas equation to see how much water compressed air at a first point? and the calculated pressure drop, I can know what is the height of the second column.
      It would be good?
      Thanks!

      and very good videos, I subscribed!

    • @medoKhatat
      @medoKhatat  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most welcome Jose,
      Manometer can't read absolute pressures at any point. It only measure the height difference produced due to the pressure drop between two points.
      You can use a product like this www.cpap.com/productpage/guage-manometer-pressure.html to measure the pressure at one point

    • @josevalera8215
      @josevalera8215 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, I understand that.
      and excuse me, I'm over here with the theme
      I am designing a manometer like that, to measure the difference between two points, college work.
      if I know which is the system pressure.
      through the ideal gas equation, calculating the compression of the air, so I can know what will be the height of liquid 1, then calculating the pressure losses I know what will be the height of the column 2.
      with this I want to know if the readings are maintained within the manometer.
      I do not know if you understand me. xD
      thanks!
