Wait I'm slightly confused...what was the point of making sure they're being backed up to Google Drive in Google settings if you're just using SMS Backup & Restore?

This didn't retrieve any old messages for me, even with my Google drive backup active
I did every step but after I click on back up and try to find google drive there is no option for me to click on it saves the backups to Google 1 and I there's no file created I can see the files there I just can't view them

Can you use this to ONLY RESTORE an existing backup done by Google Drive? (Restoring Google Messages texts to a Samsung phone). To clarify... not setting up backup and restore - just restoring.

I tried the way you explained I backed up 1324 messages from a specific individual but after restoring it on another phone I can only found 50 messages of that individual. Help me with this

Android 13. Google has made a REAL fucking mess with backup and messages (sms). Phone A (old) to phone B (new),.. I 'backed up' the old sms messages (it says it's backed up 9Mb),. but on the new phone there's no way to transfer them from the backup. It's SOOOOO confusing and MAJORLY convoluted.
In my Google Drive, I see there's the backup from my old phone,. BUT, I cannot access it,. all I _can_ do is SEE what's backup. I cannot do anything with it except see a list of what's backed up. HELP!! I am NOT paying for a backup, we never used to have to years ago, so we shouldn't now.

Plus, I'll be DAMNED if I'm going to install a dodgy 3rd party app to sort out my messages; you really think anyone with half a brain is going to install that shit? No fucking way pal, no fucking way.
Okay pal, I did not force you to install it. At the end of the day, it's really up to you. But the app is working even on latest android version

But you're blind to that since you (probably) want as many people to install it as possible. EVERY person from India who's uploaded a video tutorial to explain how to get SMS messages transferred from one phone to a new one ONLY seems to expect everyone who sees them to install that very dodgy 3rd party app. NOT happening with me, no damned way in hell it is!! NO one should have to install a dodgy 3rd party app to do what should be a simple task, NO ONE!!
I don't force people to install it, if you want to install it or not it's ypur choice not mine. I only give you a choice that will help you to backup and restore your messages

No option to force backup of SMS... that didn't work. Android 11 & 12

If you have a backup in the drive, it will surely appear.
@ComputerEverywhere it didn't, there is no backup folder it says, but there is back up, only way is to reset the phone i think
