This is the 3rd gameplay video I’ve watch of Olivier.
On offence he seems ok, mostly offensive rebounds, but as others note, the team doesn’t appear to be actively seeking him out in the post or via lobs passes.
It makes me question his post scoring ability & his ability to catch lob passes.
And on defence he actively doesn’t chase rebounds - it’s like he enjoys giving his teammates the stats. It’s clear when he goes for a rebound it’s one that falls into his lap. The rest of them, he only needed to jump a foot in the direction of the rebound to snag them.
That sets off red flags for a future professional career.
I hope for his sake there is someone who can encourage him to do that 10% extra.

    • @ywtcc
      @ywtcc 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

He's a future pro, just maybe not a future NBA pro.
It's probably the wrong style of play for him in the NBA.
He'll be good in college, Europe, and international play.
He's 7'7", changes ends pretty well, and he's got good touch on his shot.
You just don't find that combination very often.
Lots of teams want a player like Olivier boxing out instead of rebounding, for the most part.
The guards are better at moving the ball after a defensive rebound. Doesn't make sense for the center to rebound, then just stand there waiting for the guard to take it! Rebounding is about giving your team the advantage, not about stats collecting.
It's really the coach that decides those kinds of stats before the game even starts.

He has potential, he is very young - needs to build muscle mass and a little coordination. He also needs to just more and not just use his wing span. Lastly they really need to pass to him more often, many times he has been wide open and alone and they ignore him. Coach needs to change that it will help him build confidence within and with others. Still to soon to see if he will make the NBA. I hope he does as I am also Canadian. Also look at Bol Bol he is in the NBA and he is good but they ignore him a lot also and he is a great player ! All the players are excellent, and, let's face it, taller than the competition. That score.... was kinda' brutal.
They don't really need the big man to be top there, but he certainly seems a threat in rebound country.
My criticism is big guy hustle. He seems a bit lagging, but that can happen. Run him rum him run him till he's ready. Also, when 3 or 4 are on one: PASS, SCREEN, etc..

I know he is playing on a very high-level team against other top competition, but he needs to really increase his ability to get quickly up and down the court. The game is only going to be faster in college, and I know it's easier said that done at his height, but the speed just isn't there. And he seems to be pretty skinny still so needs to put on more muscle.

It's hard for a child of that height to fully "grow into his body." I hope it happens for him. The expression "tall and gangly' comes from the word "ganglion" which is part of the nervous system. Nerves are slow to mature in anyone. When the person is that tall, who knows how long it could take, if ever? IDK. He doesn't appear to have a lot of basketball IQ. By that I mean savvy or intent.

NBA rules and non-calls have ruined the game; as it trickles down to HS.
Example: 7:58 #5 double dribbles and carries the ball more than once (no call) the, throws up an isolation brick from 3 pt land.
IMG Academy is bad for HS sports. Funneling athletes from all over the world into an athlete farm with no accountability for academics.

If you're going to make such a ridiculously deceptive clickbait title.... at least give him a tiny sliver of respect. His name is Olivier Rioux.
Everyone knows by now that Courtside Films have no morals, no shame, no ethics, and no journalistic integrity.... but if you're going to make money by exploiting Olivier Rioux's height, please have the basic human decency to use his name, instead of calling him "7-Foot-7 Kid."
If I posted a video titled "TH-cam Basketball Channel Shamelessly Exploits Children For Profit"..... you wouldn't get any credit or recognition. If I chose a more descriptive title like "Courtside Films Shamelessly Exploits Children For Profit".... then viewers would know who I was talking about.
An even better analogy would be if it was a positive news story. Imagine if Courtside Films suddenly brought in a new policy where you decided to start using accurate, truthful titles for all your videos from now on.
Now, I know that sounds crazy, and it's not a realistic scenario.... but try to imagine which news headline you would prefer -
    Headline A)
"Unethical TH-camrs Change Their Approach, Public Approval Soars by 300%"
    or
    Headline B)
"Courtside Films Change Their Approach, Public Approval Soars by 300%"
Headline B gives you recognition for the good things you have (hypothetically of course) accomplished.
Headline A does not give you any recognition, even though you would like the world to know you've done something good.
