This is the 3rd gameplay video I’ve watch of Olivier. On offence he seems ok, mostly offensive rebounds, but as others note, the team doesn’t appear to be actively seeking him out in the post or via lobs passes. It makes me question his post scoring ability & his ability to catch lob passes. And on defence he actively doesn’t chase rebounds - it’s like he enjoys giving his teammates the stats. It’s clear when he goes for a rebound it’s one that falls into his lap. The rest of them, he only needed to jump a foot in the direction of the rebound to snag them. That sets off red flags for a future professional career. I hope for his sake there is someone who can encourage him to do that 10% extra.
He's a future pro, just maybe not a future NBA pro. It's probably the wrong style of play for him in the NBA. He'll be good in college, Europe, and international play. He's 7'7", changes ends pretty well, and he's got good touch on his shot. You just don't find that combination very often. Lots of teams want a player like Olivier boxing out instead of rebounding, for the most part. The guards are better at moving the ball after a defensive rebound. Doesn't make sense for the center to rebound, then just stand there waiting for the guard to take it! Rebounding is about giving your team the advantage, not about stats collecting. It's really the coach that decides those kinds of stats before the game even starts.
No way . Not athletic, too slow, too much height is making him a little awkward. I hope with the right train that he develop and grow out of the awkwardness.
As typical with many people his size, he lacks good coordination and speed. There is a reason guys like Wemby are so rare. Not typical for guys that big to move that well
Exactly. every player on the team is looking to get that big scholarship and they do not play team ball. Olivier is left out of the play. He could easily score 30 ppg.
He has potential, he is very young - needs to build muscle mass and a little coordination. He also needs to just more and not just use his wing span. Lastly they really need to pass to him more often, many times he has been wide open and alone and they ignore him. Coach needs to change that it will help him build confidence within and with others. Still to soon to see if he will make the NBA. I hope he does as I am also Canadian. Also look at Bol Bol he is in the NBA and he is good but they ignore him a lot also and he is a great player ! Hey if that kid doesn't go pro he could always model - He is a good looking guy and tall for sure lol
He needs to be doing everything to keep himself healthy. If that means taking some weight off, so be it. 7’7” 250# is still a beast and lots easier on the knees than 300#. He needs strength training, YOGA, massage, and coordination training.
All the players are excellent, and, let's face it, taller than the competition. That score.... was kinda' brutal. They don't really need the big man to be top there, but he certainly seems a threat in rebound country. My criticism is big guy hustle. He seems a bit lagging, but that can happen. Run him rum him run him till he's ready. Also, when 3 or 4 are on one: PASS, SCREEN, etc.. It means someone is open and not in-the-game!
Kid has very little game, slow, mechanical, can’t jump, can’t run the floor, no real offensive moves, only dunk the ball. Very stiff and robot like, just tall that’s all.
I know he is playing on a very high-level team against other top competition, but he needs to really increase his ability to get quickly up and down the court. The game is only going to be faster in college, and I know it's easier said that done at his height, but the speed just isn't there. And he seems to be pretty skinny still so needs to put on more muscle.
It's hard for a child of that height to fully "grow into his body." I hope it happens for him. The expression "tall and gangly' comes from the word "ganglion" which is part of the nervous system. Nerves are slow to mature in anyone. When the person is that tall, who knows how long it could take, if ever? IDK. He doesn't appear to have a lot of basketball IQ. By that I mean savvy or intent.
He looks like his body is going to break down. He’s 7’7” 300#. He runs awkwardly like his feet and knees hurt. I think he’s a UF commit, so he will have access to the best trainers and doctors.
Joe fan: "How deep's the bench this yr, coach?" Coach: "well, we don't even bring in the 7'7" guy til we're only up by 20+ in the 3rd, just to give the opponent a chance at keeping it competitive and to get the kids a decent sweat in..."
He needs a better coach to tell his teammates to give him the damn ball!! At least every 2nd trip down the court. The others will get open shots when they double or triple team him
NBA rules and non-calls have ruined the game; as it trickles down to HS. Example: 7:58 #5 double dribbles and carries the ball more than once (no call) the, throws up an isolation brick from 3 pt land. IMG Academy is bad for HS sports. Funneling athletes from all over the world into an athlete farm with no accountability for academics.
Let him have a drill with Olajuwon. Add more solid muscles on his arms and shoulders. Running drills everyday. More jump hook drills left and right! Why thus coaches doesnt see these???
Olivier is certainly young and “you can’t teach height”, but he sure has a long way to go in strength, conditioning and fundamental ball skills. I just hope he can stay away from injury and capitalize on his 🏀 opportunities.
I have seen as many vids of Olivier from IMG as I could find and I have to say they are not doing this player justice. He hardly gets any playing time and most of his teammates do not pass him the ball and are showcasing themselves. He really needs to get out of that program.
we all know, this guy has no future in nba, I really want him to be in nba but I do not think so then why I am typing this, to discourage him, absolutely not, just someone who is close to him must warn him to be a good student in the school, Tacko is a very good role model for him, if no future in balling then a good career related to his profession will save his future

Really impressed with #5 for IMG . The kid can play. Shalom
Kid is obviously growing into the man he has become. He needs a conditioning coach most of all.
And a controlled beer diet....😂
He still needs a lot of work and especially conditioning. Hope he figures it out.
