Wow, the natural cracks gave it an aspect like it was scars, but not necessarily a warrior's battle scars, but something more like life scars, from different experiences, which made it seem like Amodius is really wise, calm and imposing and has a lot to teach us. This is amazing! Thank you for your work and your words!
You are a credit to the artistic community, your tenacity when you're met with difficulties is absolutely legendary. Your sculptures just continue to get better and better, I didn't even know that was possible because they were already incredible. The fact that you kept the cracks, and didn't attempt to repair them resulted in a STUNNING end. The cracks are as much a part of him as the delicate detail work, good for you for seeing that inside of that log. I genuinely had tears going down my face when you started applying oil. So proud of you Jonas, and honored to watch your journey!
Thank you Rebekah! This truly was a challenge for me. I got a bit emotional myself at the end when i was editing and started reflection over what a long, but great journey making this sculpture was
You're so wholesome and inspiring, I love it. Your work is incredible (as are just the sketches!). And I love how human and honest you are, you admit to making mistakes and learning, and approach it with such a refreshing and pleasant attitude that every setback is just a chance to learn more. Personally, I wouldn't get so anxious about the filming and editing, it's refreshing to see some real working and thought processes, without it being over edited to appear 'perfect for youtube' - in my opinion anyway. I really hope you get the success you deserve.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. The way i edit is very simple and easy to overcome for me so it is great to hear that people appreciate that type of editing
@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft I agree with lordflay, it's a nice, refreshing change from the typical way TH-camrs edit their videos and I enjoy hearing your thoughts and ideas throughout the video, together with the workshop audio
I love to watch true artisans creating their pieces. A true artisan is someone who knows in their heart, there is always room to learn, improve their skills and to challenge themselves.
First video I've ever seen of yours that popped up in my suggestions. I'm blowin away! An absolutely amazing piece. Beautiful work. Definitely going to be watching more of your work. You have amazing talent. Just WOW ❤😊
Ohhhhhh sweetheart, that is the BEST I have ever EVER seen out of all the wood sculpting i have seen here on TH-cam. Wow, you are not only an artist and a first class sculptor. Well done love, i look forward to seeing more of your work. I darent ask the price of this piece because i know its beyond what i could ever afford. But oh how id love to have one of your pieces here. I cant get over how good you are, not to mention how cute you are too! My husband would not be happy with me saying this. Lol. But hey, im old and withering away. Lol. Keep going love, dont ever doubt what you do, its fabulous. ❤❤❤❤ love it! ❤❤❤❤
You're so talented, and the way your channel is growing, you should reach out to these companies whose tools you want to use. I think you would be surprised by the generosity of some of the companies. Not all, but anything helps. Thanks for taking us along 👍 amazing job.
In case it helps you, the final talk you had with the audience about your first sculpture and what you wanted to do is what got me to subscribe. It's wonderful to see people coming into the realization of what they truly love in life, and to see the difference from your first, and to this latest Amodius, is breath taking. Beautiful, stunning work, and I look forward to many more over the years!

Amazing! I admire your work, master Jonas! A spectacle for learning and filigree execution, attention to every detail of creation! Thank you for your videos! Inspiration, peace and goodness to you!
That's a really cool sculpture, compliments for the commitment! I can totally relate to you wanting to start another project while you were halfway through this one: I write stories (hopefully one day they'll be published), and over the years I've been working on a book I was always tempted to start working on another idea.
You can limit the need for the bottom to be completely flat if you make a small indention in it like a lot of bottles have. It is made there so it will stand more stable. Also very nice carvings. And I really find your sketches truly amazing. =)
Beautiful. 🎉 thankyou for sharing your journey!!! So glad TH-cam algorithm put you in. Love watching your work. Your sketches are beautiful also!!! It's satisfying watching a piece go from paper to carving.❤ Jill C Tombstone Arizona
As someone who watches a lot of videos where people make, or restore things, I can assure you that there is no right order to do anything. Maybe with electronics hold up ha ha. I enjoy watching the creative process and what works for you is perfect. Just keep creating. We are our own worst critics, so be kind to yourself as much as you can. I know this is going to turn out amazing!
Omfg! Absolutely magnificent and majestic. I love how the cracks look like scars going down the side of the face. You’ve definitely outdone yourself! I got a bit teary eyed at the end lol
Your carvings are always beautiful. I would say you have your own style, and anyone that likes that style couldn't be dissatisfied with your work, no matter what it is. Thanks for the video! I learn a lot from watching you work. ✨💖✨😊👍
So Sick and Absolutely Stunning. You are so very talented and a Master of your craft. The Black stand gives your carving a bold contrast. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you design and create your beautiful masterpiece, Thanks.
You're a talented artist, Jonas, this is a think of beauty! Love the pendants as well. I remember having the same feeling of trepidation you've talked about (taking commissioned work and not wanting to let the client down) when I started my knife & tool sharpening business. If you're comfortable and confident in your artistic skills, just make sure you discuss everything as much as possible with the client, and give yourself plenty of time to do a good job. Don't set unrealistic deadlines for yourself until you have a feel for how long something will take.
Creativity, and how beautiful it is to show us a work like this for the movie (Black Panther) and the African ornament beautifying his neck👑Wakanda forever

I have watched a few different wood sculptors on TH-cam. You are the first I have seen that TRULY gave life and personality to your sculpture. It looked like Amodius was in the log the whole time. All you did was remove the wood from around his face and freed him. You are an incredible artist!
I've been enjoying your videos since you began, Jonas. Your talent and dedication is impressive to say the least. Regarding your comment about jumping from project to project and not finishing them, well, I believe you're in good company. Rumor has it Leonardo Da Vinci was notorious for his unfinished works. I guess we should be grateful for the times he felt like finishing the job! Keep working like you are and maybe one day you're name will be spoken of in the same breath... 😉 Troy

Fantastic work, Jonas!! I've been considering carving up a log that I've had sitting around for a while now, but was put off by the cracks in it. After seeing your piece however, the cracks do not hinder the outcome. They actually add a nice natural element that works well! Again, great job! Maybe soon I'll get my idea materialized 😉
Love the drawings in your sketch book. Beautiful sculpture. Enjoyed listening to you while seeing you work. Excellent. ❤ Next time save some sawdust and mix glue to fill ove screws. Or a scrap piece that matches the wood grain. Might work.
Amazing sculptures and such imaginative base sections. I really wish you the best of luck with your future, this is a talent everybody should see. I hope you make enough money to continue doing what you love and sharing it with us. Thank you.
I just stumbled across your site today and I have to say you're one of the most gifted artists I've ever seen. I've never seen anyone leave the cracks in a piece of art like this. They always try to fill it in our cut around it or hide it some way when everyone knows that all old wood has imperfections... that's what makes them beautiful. You showcase these and make beautiful art with them. Thank you.
This is BY FAR my favorite sculpture I have ever seen. I'd love to have him in my home, but since that is unlikely to happen I wish great happiness to anyone who has him as a guest. Looking forward to your next work! :)
