Hi fifi!! I have the opposite opinion overall hihi, I thought this was their strongest title track to date! The whole instrumental being consistent was something I appreciated a lot, but I totally understand ur thoughts on it!!! Would've wanted a stronger bridge/climax towards the end as well, but I still loved the song as a whole!! Times like these really make me appreciate how safe a space it is on your channel to disagree on opinions in terms of the music~ Love ya and am looking forward to the other vids to be posted for this week!!!
For me this is their best since Zombie. Loved the more mature feel and loved the sultry instrumental. Really surprised that Purple Kiss haven't hit with you, but each to their own. For me their albums have all been essential listening.
I agree with you! I feel like their title tracks peaked in their debut & first comeback. Their bsides, on the other hand, have gotten so much better over time.
I see what you mean about the flatness, but I feel like it had a purpose, like this time purple kiss weren't about a cute gimmick or something but just horror-tinged baad bitch energy. And I think by that measure it succeeded. Btw, the rapper is yuki, and omg is she good or what??
This cb is just perfect. Ireh and dosie has vocals and chorus parts. Choreo looks on point as always. Yuki sang and rap as she should. The concept is amazing. The production is phenomenal. They need to have their first win and more for this cb😭💜💜🧚🏽♀️✨
Sweet Juice feels like a much more mature and bolder Ponzona and I'm all for it! 🙌 I feel like PURKI really cemented their overall vibe and range as a group with this one and I can't wait to hear more from them 💜
Why some people always have that idea that the chorus or in your case, the instrumentals, have to be loud or energetic, yo have to feel the initial melody to understand that the chorus and instrumentals are more than adequate, I still remember when someone criticized the song Paint Me by Mamamoo simply because the instrumentals were simple, that was the idea, to be able to show something that we already knew about Mamamoo, the vocals of the girls.
Where did I say it had to be loud or energetic? Lmao I said even a simple transition with a break in the beat leading in to the chorus would have given it more of an impact and the chorus not changing. Even a moment where some of the instrumentals CUT OUT. I don’t think you understood what I was saying and what I meant … it’s not about the instruments being loud of sounding different or having a different energy but moreso adding in small things to make it stand out in moments rather than falling flat.
Love this song and think it’s their best title to date! I hope they’ll only get better from here and wish chaein will get to produce a title track because I love all of her produced songs. The outfits were incredible and the mv was super cool too. As always, I respect your opinion and appreciate the reaction!!!! (Also yes they have a storyline, they’re witches and have posted content on it, a fun watch- almost like a little movie)
I totally agree with you on this one! I think the song is solid and Purple Kiss as a group have a ton of potential, but similar to a few other groups I feel their talents are being under-utilized. And like you said, we didn’t necessarily need a crazy switch-up but maybe could’ve used a last chorus with more harmonies or a swell in the instrumentation which I think was one of the positives of this song since I loved the orchestration. Loved the MV and styling, just wish there was that “pay-off” in the song that we didn’t quite get. I always come back for your insight and love that you’re one of the few channels that provides an honest opinion and keeps it real, thank you for your commentary!
I loved their debut so much. Every comeback after that I've only liked the title tracks. Same with this song I like it and I'll listen to it but I don't love it. Their vocals are always on point. Love the rapping! Also can't wait to see more of the choreo. Loved your reaction, thank you for your honesty
i personally love this song like i have liked their past songs but the beats have been a bit inconsistent to me where i would get tired of the song after a while because it’s too much. i think this song was great to also showcase their vocals since they amazing singers but i do understand where there wasn’t anything that made you go wow but i missed kpop songs being like this instead of being the same unpredictable change/beat but your opinion is super valid
Predebut I was extremely hyped for them because they're all so freaking talented. Unfortunately Ponzona was not my song.. I was never really able to get into their music after. the title tracks just didn't really hit, and if I've listened to any B-sides, I don't remember them now. But this song really brought back my excitement. I happen to really love this vibe and the way it gently flows all the way through to the end. In my opinion, this is how you do classical instruments in a song. Make it pretty and fit the concept. These days many groups sample older songs (this is both pop songs and classical music btw), and my familiarity with the originals actually detracts from my enjoyment of the new songs, I always end up feeling it doesn't fit well. But this was just really exquisite and I finally feel like I want to buy a Purple Kiss album. ^^
I’ve had the same first impressions as you on a lot of their songs. Like my initial thought with Zombie was that I was burnt out with that sound, and I wasn’t a big fan of some of the bsides. And I also felt like Sweet Juice fell sort of flat. Like I didn’t feel that the instrumental really fit the lyrics as much as I wanted and while the choreo was great I didn’t think it really fit that instrumental. But just like almost all of their songs, including Zombie, I now absolutely love Sweet Juice. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I swear every time I think I really dislike a song when I first hear it, it inevitably ends up being me absolute favorite. 😅🙃 it’s come to the point that if I don’t like a song I still play it when I listen to the album cause I know it’s likely just a matter of time before it really grabs me. Sometimes it just takes a few listens, sometimes it takes years to rediscover a song. But Sweet Juice hit me hard and I wasn’t ready for it. Lol. It may actually be my favorite PK song now.
I loved sweet juice soooooo much honestly !! I'm tired of Girl crush now days , PurKi's Quirky , mysterious & horror concept is what I needed . The chorus didn't had any build up and I loved it too much than I had expected . Even though there is no major change in beat & flow , idk how but , the chorus hits way HARDER like this . This album is honestly so good . I just hope they get their first win now ✨💜😍😄
completely agree with you.. it really feels that there is something missing despite the girls getting even better.. like their voices, dance skills, performance and charisma makes them by far my favorite new gg.. yet something with their music feels off that it just lacks some flare or that element that makes it slap and memorable.. something to make it catchy.. perhaps it's a mix of expecting way more out of them combined with how tough the competition is and the bar being constantly challenged on the music being produced.. aside from a few key tracks.. I did enjoy their covers and purplemances more than a lot of their tracks and even some TTs looking at it in retrospect..
I do find this song a little flat too. It feels like they’re missing something to hit it deeper in my heart(or like something that moves my emotion) but indeed is a special one compare to their previous ones. However, the side tracks are REALLY good. I am in love with the song ‘t4ke’.
I like this song a lot, but I wish their third chorus was put where their second one was (put the light adlibs in second chorus) and that their third chorus was a bit more bombastic from the instrumental (maybe some low brass?)
I totally respect your opinion :) I personally felt like it was perfect but I know that you love their music you just weren’t overwhelmed by them and that’s okay. The strings were beautiful but I get how some would think it drags a bit cause for some that tension is missing. But maybe it’s just a combination of the tempo being too level and not enough tension? This was their first title that wasn’t produced in house, so it’s a very different sound for them. I’m sure with them being as great as they are, there will be a title that just blows you out of the water someday. I mean XG we’re like that for me until shooting star but also I’m still a tiny bit on the fence cause I just want atleast 1 kickass Korean track. Thank you for your opinion/perspective, even if I might respectfully disagree. I do appreciate you and your reaction and the fact that you continue to show our girls the love. 😊 ❤❤
i agree, i feel like the chorus could stick out a little, though i still love it, they have a lotttt of potential, but it seems like rbw just doesnt know how to use them to the fullest :/
Not sure it's about RBW not knowing how to handle them, I think it's more that RBW have always been much more focussed on musical quality than being on trend, look at their groups, MMM, Vromance, Oneus, Onewe, all of them are vocally strong and are given a degree of artistic freedom that other companies don't allow (afaik Onewe do pretty much what they want). I'm not too sure about Oneus, it feels like their music is fairly mainstream but they still have a lot of focus on their concepts being unique. With PK, it feels like they tried to create a bridge between a vocal and mainstream group, it's just that they chose a niche concept that isn't on trend. This title track though sounds much closer to mainstream within the confines of their concept and I don't think it's a coincidence that it wasn't produced by RBW. I often wonder how songs popular songs would sound if PK sang them, like the New Jeans stuff, IVE, XG etc. So I do think it's a shame RBW pursued this concept, but I still like their music for its uniqueness and how fun it is to watch the group. As for this song, other than the words "Sweet Juice" (don't think "Sweet Candy" like it was originally would've been any better) and "Sweety" sounding weird, I liked it, but can see why people would feel it's a little flat especially compared to the songs being released atm with their crazy switch ups or R&B vibes. Hopefully it works for them in terms of gaining more recognition as they deserve it, there's no other group like them from what I've seen.
No I totally agree! I thought the title track was missing something. I love the concept however, the song seemed to miss for me. I love purple kiss and ESPECIALLY their B-Sides. I think Autopilot would have been a better title track compared to sweet juice. However, still love me some Purple Kiss! I hope they try another song like Zombie again in the future💜
Very true. They are so talented I love their voices and rapping and dancing but the company is doing them wrong imo. I agree with some b sides sounding great (especially rnb focused songs!) But they are making questioning decisions for the girls when it comes to the songs they choose.. also I can't take it seriously that they are talking about sweet juice?? Haha so silly to me...
Ok I'm gonna get so much hate for this I know it but first let me say I love the girls I love their voices. But it feels to me like the company first started out letting them be them then started to conform them to another Mamamoo. Each an everyone of them have a unique sound a great style but damn they are missing to me it don't feel like the girls at all. I wonder how it would be if Moonbyul or even Solar was directing them in the studio the sounds and the feel of them being them. It might help if you explained why you think they're being shaped into another MMM? Just saying that you feel they're missing and it doesn't feel like them doesn't explain anything. For this track, it felt like they didn't rely on Sujin to be the stand out unique vocalist that she is, which I actually appreciate as it allows the other members to get attention. Go Eun sounded great as she always does and seemed to take on Jieun's role as well. Chaein and Yuki sounded as per usual to me and we got the usual dash of Ireh and Dosie. Normally I feel like the focus is always put on Sujin, Go Eun and Chaein, but I felt this was much more like a group performance. Personally I don't see how anything in this track made them more like MMM, the musical/vocal style and lyrics aren't anywhere near theirs so I struggle to understand your opinion.
@@EE-Z look the company like all the others use their main artist as a blueprint for other girl groups or boy groups. Let's take vromance didn't they sound like a boy group just like mamamoo. I felt the exact same way. It’s completely stagnant. The instrumental is stunning but ends up sounding boring and flat, because there are no dynamic changes.
