Hey Guys - I don’t even have any words for this one, John Jamelske is sick & twisted!! Don't forget to download June’s Journey for free now using my link: woo.ga/gsbfos Hope you enjoy the video 💜💜
The city of Syracuse, Manlius and Fayetteville NY... EVERYWHERE IN CNY... We all felt like dumbfounded idiots. I personally worked in group home literally three to five doors down and there was not a neighbor who knew
Yeah, they never do. They say the 1st 48hrs are the most important etc.... Then ignore pleas for help and an investigate, they're met with *yeah I'm sure it's nothing/ nah they're a run away* etc. It results in deaths so often and they still don't learn or care. Smh
I think they need to keep record (idk if they do but idk if they dont) cause like in this case a cop remembered (luckily) Jennifers story. But what if he didnt? Theyre must be a special system
One of my friends was teasing me about my true crime fascination. These women are the reason. They survived. Every story teaches us, to trust our guts. To learn the word "no". To disassociate. To fight. To plan. To endure. I am so sad that they went through this. I am so amazed by thier strength.
I find mainly women listen to true crime. I think there's a kind of solace we all feel when we listen to the stories of women who also didn't make it. By the time we reach 18 years old, we've all had an experience that could have been the beginning of one of these stories. Even listening to the stories of the women who didn't make it gives solace to me - if I can care about a woman who has died, who I have never known, then if something would happen to me, there could be someone else would care too. And if I live like these strong women did, I can have confidence someone would believe me. True crime isn't about loving crime - its about caring for each other.
I watch it cuz I’m interested in learning about why the criminal does it and how their brain works different than a normal person. And of course the womanly side of it.. intuition and such. Mostly for scientific purposes for me!
I remember a murder story. Forgot lots of details, but once she was found, family/friends told the cops to look under her fingernails because she was a true crime fan and had told them to scratch an attacker. Didn't stop her from getting murdered, but she had his DNA
My bf always teases me about my true crime obsession, too. He says he knows that if I wanted him to disappear, I've probably heard 10 ways to make it happen. 😂 Luckily, I don't have a mean bone in my body. 🤷🏽♀️
Don’t ever apologize for being gone so long to research a case. We all LOVE that you actually take the time to do the research and get the facts right rather than just throw together a video with misinformation. You’re amazing, and you do an amazing job! So thankful I found your channel! Much love from the US ❤
Years ago, I was poisoned by a close family member. The police didn't want to know. The doctors wouldn't listen. TWO WEEKS after the event, I was finally able to get a test for one of the poisons I believe was used, a urine test for arsenic. Came back positive for the small amount left in my body. Doctor blamed it on eating contaminated fish.
It's the idea of seeing this literal monster CRAWL towards them, out of the dark, whilst being buried and chained to a wall....makes me shudder. It gives me the creeps SO bad. Just waiting to see if he's going to come scuttling down that tunnel on his hands and knees. I really hope all those strong survivors are able to live a life where they are being treated right and sticking it to him by living a good life that makes them happy. All my love to them.
I know, sometimes we listen to these crimes and it can be hard to actually put yourself there. I do not think the courts actually get that sometimes especially when it comes to kids.
This feels so much like The girl in the box case. The fact that he told her about the cult he was in and that he will kill her family if she tried to escape, and he let her make contact with her family. Such a sick and demented person. I can't wrap my mind around how these girls survived.
yess. so many criminals came up with that sex cult story that makes me wonder if they were inspired by each other or if maybe they are only half lying and there is such a thing - only that instead of influential people, it's made up of deranged monsters.
There were like 5 girls.. and they lived in a bomb shelter under is backyard. The only reason the last girls got away is because she got him to trust her
I thought about that ! I wonder if there is some kind of “manual” for these psychopaths because it’s “odd” that they have the same idea in a time where information is not as disseminated as today … don’t know
@@alexandrafonseca426 maybe there's something in a dark web? idk, it may be too far fetched, but I don't doubt it. pretty sure there is a criminal out there who wrote manuals for this type of stuff
@@alexandrafonseca426 It is really odd. You can't help but wonder if they somehow research other people who have done the same thing and try to copy them or something like that. Which is why they're so similar. Can you imagine if they had some type of "manual". I wouldn't be surprised because they honestly live in a sick world that is completely their own.
Disgusting yes but that would mean the women would have to testify against him in open court, the prosecution took that route to spare them from having to relive the trauma since the scumbag never admitted anything, if he actually owned ul to what he did he could spare them that pain but his personality obviously feeds on the concept of causing pain and distress, the authorities did the best they could in the circumstances so the best we can hope is that his parole continues to be denied
@@valentine4287 I guess in my mind I just wish every victim could get the utmost justice. In my heart, I know you're right. I can't imagine if I had to face my rapist ever again, either.
Its a tough call from whatever angle its looked at tbh, i personally hope they put him in general population in prison an "accidentally" let it slip that some of his victims were children, that kind of scum doesn't get treated well by the other inmates
@@victoriaskellington Thank you as well. Sometimes people who are respecting, and protecting the victims get lashed out at. The more horrific and gory the story is, the more views they receive. There are all too often TV cameras, and News Papers camped right outside of the victims door, just so they can be the first ones to get all the juicy details of what happened to these poor souls.
He has also said that it took his lawyers days to convince him that what he did was holding the victims captive. What a sick individual. It's terrifying that there are probably so many more individuals out there that think like this
I just want to thank you for covering this case that I have a personal connection to. I was at the bar, called Freddy's, the night Jamelske took his final victim out. There were murmurs about a strange couple. My family and I had several tables pushed together for the earlier trivia game. The victim asked me if I had a light for her cigarette. My brother was quicker on the draw and handed her his lighter. Before she could bring the lighter to her cig, Jamelske appeared right next to her and watched her like a hawk. She thanked me brother and Jamelske guided her away from us. I didn't think she looked old enough to smoke let alone drink, and then her "date" seemed old enough to be her grandpa. Then they got up and sang karaoke. A Brandy song. It was bizarre, awkward, & tense. My SIL & I noticed he stuck to her side like glue but we followed her into the bathroom. It was small & crowded and my SIL asked her if she was ok but the door opened for another person to come in and Jamelske was right there waiting for her to come out. She left the bathroom and we lost track of her and heard that they both left together. It was so odd. Soon afterwards this victim was rescued after calling from the redemption center and her ordeal came out in the media. We were all shocked at the severity of it all, but grateful she survived. Eventually we learned about the other victims, and it turns out one of them also went to school with my brother and he remembered that no one believed her, they thought she had run away and made up some crazy story upon her return. This case is so sickening and insane and I don't know why the coverage is so limited. A cautionary tale if I ever heard one. I drive by the house where the dungeon was on the way to my parents neighboring town and I always think about that night at the bar and the young black girl and if she's ok today. I hope all the victims have healing and peace. And I hope they never let Jamelske out of prison, may he rot in pieces.
wow, that's crazy tbh, I'm sorry for his victims, I'm glad he didn't choose you though, you were so close, it must be so scary now knowing that you were that close to someone so dangerous! Thank you for sharing this
I'm a native of Syracuse, NY and I remember when this case first came to light. It was horrifying! This happened in my own backyard. I've been in that neighborhood and driven by that house numerous times and never knew what was really going on there. It still gives me the creeps! Those poor girls and their families. What a monster.
I lived in Dewitt, and worked in Manlius...literally, driving by that house every day! It was so eerie after he was arrested, knowing that dungeon was right there!
Imagine going through that and finally getting free but you are either too scared or not believed . Then after years he is finally caught you find out there were 4 OTHERS
It struck me as truly sad that when the police reacted to both 'Tina' and 'Jennifer' the way they did, they almost confirm john's claims of there being a "sex ring" and the officials being involved!
EXACTLY!!!! After they ignored them, the women must have at least wondered if maybe he was telling the truth and that wonder must have filled their lives with fear. Those cops are PoS. Either act on the citizen's alegations or investigate the posibility of false alegations, which must be unlawful as well. If they actually did their job, it could have all ended with "Tina" or in the worst case "Jennifer"
@@dominiquejeanson3536 police never pay for their negligence their other police buddies ALWAYS cover for them. That's why not many people trust them anymore.
I have been waiting patiently for someone to do this case. I lived about 15 minutes from this man and was in my teens when this case was uncovered. It was terrifying for a quiet community that he lived in.
I worked on the same road like three doors down with special need kids. No ONE knew. His property looked everyone else's, he spoke to us. I know people that worked with him... It was TERRIFYING
Hi Danielle! These kinds of cases are so terrifying. I’m sure you’ve heard of Josef Fritzl out of Austria, who locked his daughter in a dungeon under his house for 24 years. Having several children with her. It’s absolutely insane but in the off chance you don’t have it on your case list, I wanted to suggest it!
I can hear how much you empathize and care for these women in your voice. You are doing these women justice by telling their stories and bringing awareness to the dark aspects of human nature so that we may learn and do our best to stay safe and aware. I appreciate how you respect and humanize the victims in these cases. You are the best true crime TH-camr in my opinion because of the empathy you share. Thank you.
This actually made me physically vomit 🤮 As a survivor of rape I can comprehend a little (and I mean little!) of what they experienced. I am 62 yes old now and still suffer to this day so I can’t even begin to imagine what his victims are going through. I pray they find peace one day. Love to you all x
I’m so sorry you had to go thru something so horrible. When the time you probably had your rape they weren’t as many support groups they have today. Hope you got the healing that you needed. God Bless you.
The interviewer's reaction is great. I love it. There are so many interviews where the reporter is stone-faced (because I imagine they have to be for their job). But this guy is just SO DISGUSTED by Jamelske he can't hold it back. Love to see it.
Girl don’t you ever apologize! You’ve become my absolute favorite true crime story teller because of how much research you do. We’re so happy you’re back, and I can’t wait to listen to this one.
If they found the journals and diaries for/from all 5 girls, you’d think they would’ve found more if there were other victims. I want to hope no one else went through this 💔
Danielle's voice after reading the statements... she genuinely feels for the victims in every episode. I really respect all the seriously hard work she does but most of all i respect her humanity
I can't imagine how awful it was for these poor girls. This man is a monster and the only consolation is that he knows how awful it is to be trapped in a concrete cell, with every aspect of his life controlled, in a prison.
Good point!! Unfortunately he’s being treated 100x better than they were... At least he gets fresh air, a comfortable bed, clothes, regular meals, plenty of water, an actual shower, a running toilet, and isn’t freezing cold 24/7 while being naked, and the ability to socialize and make friends. He’s only getting a tiny small taste of what they went through 😒. He needs to be in solitary for a while with very little food and water and a bucket to go to the bathroom so he can smell his rotting waste💩 flowing in the air all day with no ventilation🤢. That sounds a little more fair to me!!! 🤷♀️
The cops who did not take this seriously the first time should lose their jobs and have the shit sued out of them. As a matter of fact, they should be tried as accomplices. It was their inaction that allowed Jamelske to grab more than half of his victims.
Absolutely disgusting excuse of a human being!!! And I definitely wouldn’t consider it a sex dungeon, that’s being too nice, it was a “RAPE dungeon!” Thank you for doing this case though, I’ve surprisingly never heard this story, and you did a great job telling it, like always ❤️
I do not normally comment, but this one got to me. The delusion within his head is unbelievable. To think he thought he would only get community service. Thank you for your compassion for these victims. Really enjoy your channel. Great for listening while I am at work.
You have done the women who went through this right. You told their story with such respect for them. You made sure their voices were heard…. I’m so glad you put so much compassion into your work. I watch your videos every week… this man is lower then most… Actually thinking that he was giving these girls a “beautiful room”…. It makes me sick…. Disgusting vile man… I hope that the parole board truly has their wits about them… And to these women… you are all SURVIVORS. Don’t be his “victim” for one more second. You are strong and beautiful. We all see your strength.
I saw this case a long time ago on Oprah. It sticks with you but yes, the thing that I most clearly remember is him sitting there with a straight face saying he didn’t think the women had it too bad. I’ve never wanted to kick someone in the balls so bad in all my life.
Danielle, you have such a beautiful heart. Thank you for sharing these stories, not because of morbid fascination with crime, but because of your deep sympathy and compassion for the victims and survivors. I'm so grateful I came across your channel recently. You are beautiful, inside and out!! ❤
Actions speak louder than words. He can says he believes they were there willingly all he wants, but if he actually believed that he wouldn't require chains and padlocks and such. He damn well knows 100% they would leave if he wasn't holding them hostage 24/7. He knows it and he acts on it.
Syracuse native here. We used to always pass by his house on the road to one of the outlying villages, and every time we passed by we’d just get the most uncomfortable energy, even though it had been completely flipped. Thank you for calling attention to the story of these poor women and what they went through.
This happened in my hometown and he turned into a 'boogeyman' that kids would tell stories about. For a while I didn't realize he was real. Also, the bottle collection is still active and I used to bring bottles in high school to get pocket cash 😅 Edit: OH, and he lived across the street from the elementary school 🙃
Wow... he deserves to be UNDER the prison. 😡🤬😡 PLEASE keep us posted with what happens at his parole hearing. Thank You So Much for covering these stories. God bless EVERY victim you've ever mentioned.
As long as he continues to deny wrong doing the parole board most likely won't grant parole. In order to get parole among other things you have to take responsibility for your crime(s) and show remorse.
It's kind of adorable that you said John used "chlorophyll" instead of chloroform. In the midst of disgust, I imagined an underground world of little criminal insects🐞🕷️🐝🔪
HEE HEE... that insect world would most likely be very efficient! And there would probably bee a lot less crime! ...hhmmmm Ya know what? It just occurred to me that although we find them disgusting and believe ourselves to be superior and, of course we are, but in one way, they (the insect world) have and always will have it over us... they are not capable of greed or personal gain. they understand that to take away from the the group also weakens themselves. There are many humans that could learn something from an insect society .. but....Alas! Who could translate?? lol
I've never heard of this case but Holy shit. That man is a delusional monster and I honestly can't believe it took 3 separate victims trying to contact police before he was finally caught. I hope he has a miserable time in prison and I hope his victims find a way to move past the things he put them through. Thankyou for sharing this case with us!
Me and some of my best girlfriends love watching you videos while chatting about the cases! Also, we're all Brazilians and we absolutely love your English, it's so clean and pretty, even the two of us who don't know much English can easily understand you 💜
meu deus, eu tbm sou brasileira kkkkkkk acho incrivel como é possivel encontrar outros br em qualquer vídeo do youtube 💚💛💙 eu uso esses vídeo para manter meu ingles "afiado"
This man is absolutely sick. And the nerve for him to say that the dungeon was wonderful.. I- 😶 Thank you Danielle for telling this story. I think we can all learn (our kids) to NEVER step in a stranger's car. Run away and scream as hard as you can. 😰
I was a weird outcast who was bullied from kindergarten through high school. Then I got into a religious cult in college. I would never consider doing anything awful to another human being. A lot of it is having unconditional love and support from my parents and enough true friends along the way to have an internal anchor. Getting diagnosed and treated for depression and anxiety has also helped. But guys, don't bully. Just don't. Be the person who reaches out.
I’m from Syracuse Ny and it remember all this happening. The women known as tina was a strange kind of bag lady from the north side. She was released and told everyone and no one believed her. Everyone thought she was crazy. This makes my skin crawl bc the area he was in was a really good neighborhood. Thanx for telling the story with respect to the victims.
I’m a single mom of 2 kids and rarely get time to myself but I do get Saturday nights and sundays usually and the fact that you put your videos out during the the time I get to relax and watch them is always such a treat and it’s been so nice to have this..hobby? can you call it that? 😅 just thank you, seriously, but also, I’m so glad that the community you have here is so supportive of you taking time for yourself and taking your time for whatever it may be. It just gives me…hope? Lol which when your content is solely based around true crime…I think that really speaks on the kind of person you are. You’re great 🥺😭💜
I think of that sometimes.....someone's being held somewhere horrific right now. Someone's being assaulted for the first time or the 100th time right now. It makes me heart sad.
Taking in bottles and cans was how I kept my twin babies in diapers as a 16yr old single mom. Still use can recycling to pay for toilet paper and cleaning products. Life saver for many here in Oregon USA. AND GOOD FOR THE PLANET!
@@sundinfamforlife4129 I turn my empties in all the time to help with groceries. I don't know what I'd do if I moved to a state that doesn't have a deposit.
I'm not sure if we still have it on like plastic bottles or cans, but there is for beer and liquour bottles here in Ontario Canada. Back when we were like 19-20 my one friend and I would save all of our bottles and make sure her mom and any friends she had over saved all of theirs and when we were broke we'd load up my trunk and back seat and go get some beer money 🍻 It's not much, like 10-20cents depending on the size of rhe bottle but it sure added up! Anytime we threw a party at her house we did amazing! 😂
I got choked up with you. I experienced that stuff when I was in foster care in NY and I am so beyond proud of all people who have to wage a war inside them and still get up and not only live, but THRIVE!!!!!!! We’ve got this!!! Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I had never heard of it!
That underground storage room is a root cellar or a canning cellar. Thank you for your discretion and empathy towards these ladies. Great job with the timeline and storytelling. Truly enjoy listening to you.
Is there anything like a petition we could sign that would put some sort of a dampner on an early release for this monster? Great to have you back Danielle, one thing I love about your videos is your empathy and sympathy towards the victims who cases you cover. You and Kendal Rae are perfect examples of how to spread awareness and at the same time, do so much to help others who have gone through atrocious things. Thank you❤
The one thing I kept finding myself asking over & over was, how in the hell was he finding out the girls addresses & where they lived? Being able to do so much as show up there & get inside & even take pictures, to then come back & show the victim, is absolutely mind boggling!
danielle's case telling skills are UNMATCHED. i am here for your commentary and explainations and the tribute you give to the victims and the respect you show. love u danielle
She’s definitely one of my favorite story tellers for sure. And she’s so respectful, insightful and I love when she dives into her criminology degree. She’s a queen!
Thank you for telling their story. In my opinion the police should be held accountable for being complicit. They have no right to make such a strong and dismissive judgement call. It makes it glaringly obvious that they were assisting this man to live in his illusion with zero regard for his victims. And to be let out....if I were his victim he would be praying to stay in jail.
About the bottle collecting stuff: we actually have this system in Germany. It doesn't count for all bottles but it does for most PET bottles and you can put them into recycling machines that are in basically every supermarket and get 25 cents for each bottle. I think beer bottles made of glass bring 8 cents. A lot of homeless or jobless people usually also walk around cities looking through the trash to see whether they can find some bottles and at basically every concert there are a bunch of people collecting bottles (since you usually can't bring them into the venue). I was pretty surprised when I found out that not many countries have this because I think it's a great system.
We had the same type recycling machines at quite a few grocery stores around Southern California. You have to stick pile the plastic and glass bottles and aluminum can. Crazy, I moved one state over and they don't do this here
Aside from that, Danielle, you are doing an amazing job and keep up the great work but always remember, we will be here for you but If you don't take time off for yourself, you can't be here for us. So stay sweet, keep em coming and always take time to recover from all this. YOU'RE THE BEST!
We have it in the United States too but you only get 5 cents for any bottle or can 10 cents if you’re in certain other states we have redemption centers and then machines in stores
Just wanted to let u know that Bailey Sarian is back but will only be doing 2 MMM every Monday + Dark History. She said its because doing so much murder is hard on your mental health. She did a live & encouraged all of us to watch others who do makeup & true crime! That is awesome of her & you are doing so amazing! I love your vids & how well u research. I've been subscribed to u for quite awhile & u put out so much content I still am catching up! TY 💖💖Love u too Danielle & wish u the greatest of success! U are headed towards 1 million subscribers I see it!
I saw this too I wanted to scream to everyone to check out Danielle because anyone that watches MMM will love Danielle … honestly she quickly became my favorite ❤ she just covers the most interesting cases in my opinion and is not afraid to cover the rough stuff she also puts so much work into it and is such a good story teller and omg a beyond amazing makeup artist … I’ve binge watched all of her videos this summer 😂 im also always so excited to see her makeup looks there is something so visually aesthetic watching her do her makeup while telling about these cases most of which I never heard of because she doesn’t just cover the same stuff as everyone else.
Why do people always bring up this other channel? Who cares? People are watching this one. I don't really understand the purpose of mentioning other youtub channels. Are you trying to get people to go there? Is it your channel? Seriously, who really cares? To me, this entire comment and responses should be on reddit.
You really fought through this video. 1:15:00! Thank you Danielle! You always care about the victims and families and hope you are also finding peace and happiness in what you are doing. I think your work does do good for viewers, families, and maybe even victims who may watch your videos. Thank you for being sweet, hard working, and just great!
This one hits eerily close to home. I grew up in Syracuse during this time, though this is the first time I remember hearing about this. Heartbroken for the victims and it's terrifying thinking that I easily could have been one of them.
When you said the last victim's name, I got chills. My oldest daughter has that name and she was born in Oct. of 2002. I hope these women have found peace.
I just heard an unbelievable case that I would like to hear you cover. This might be the most disturbing I’ve ever heard. Junko Furuta. Over 40 days of kidnapping and torture. Many, many people knew this was happening and participated. Reports vary but it’s possible up to a hundred people participated over the 40 days. Love your channel and your unique take on these cases. Your empathy for the victims is obvious and I love your respectful coverage of these terrible crimes and commitment to bring these stories to light. ❤
It was the most horrible case I've ever heard about - but also so similar to the hell that poor Sylvia Likens was made to endure in strangely-similar circumstance.
This was one of the few cases that when I was watching a video about it I had to stop and take a good 2 hours or so before i could finish it. True crime is an interesting topic to me and that particular case made me reconsider my interest in it.
I had to look this up and it made me so sick and also so mad. Those boys need to have the same things done to them as they did to that poor girl, maybe worse.
Great video as usual 😍 note: in sweden we recycle plastic bottles for money. Households collect them and go to the grocery store, recycle them through a machine. Then you get a ticket that you can use at the grocery store. The more bottles you recycle the more money you get.
The unbreakable kimmy Schmidt is loosely based on this story… John Hamm plays a rendition of John that’s kinda spot on 😳 Thanks for your videos girl! 💕
In the U.S we still get money for recylcing bottle and cans. We do that in my family and almost every grocery store has a recylcing center where you can do this. There are also independent recylcing centers.
1:14:35 ok I was already bawling and your tribute to those poor women was beautiful and straight from the heart. I love your empathy and compassion. Much love from sunny FL
Don't think anyone minds waiting while your doing through research! Also love how respectful you are towards the victims also! As someone who's been through r*pe/sa. Its appreciated how respectful you are! X
Thank you for doing this! I used to pass his house on the way to work and it always stood out. The junk cars, the lack of upkeep. I had no idea that just yards away that this nightmare factory was in full production. I similarly had looked for information on this over the years and also found it lacking. I did, though, find bits and pieces scattered about. I'm glad that you took the time to assemble this so that others can get the full story in one place
Hello! I am neurodivergent and have difficulty understanding people with accents. (I’m American) But I wanted to say thank you for being so clear when you speak. I really love your videos, the topics, the makeup, the crimes. I appreciate your videos sm ❤️
Greetings Danielle 😊 First, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate what you do on this site. I have watched MANY of your videos and am really impressed with the detailed research you do regarding the backgrounds of all the individuals involed. Your narrative is nice to listen to and the information is easily comprehended. I also like how you go above and beyond to not only defend the victims in these cases, but also attempt to explain why the perpetrators became the way they are. *ALSO, as a person who almost NEVER gets involved with sponsors connected to the sites I watch or subscribe to, yours is one of the VERY FEW I have not only listened to, but have taken your advice and truly appreciated your suggestions regarding each sponsor. (I LOVED the "Thursday Murder Club" and the resulting two other books, as well as some others you suggested on your channel)* I am the Daughter of a retired Michigan State Police officer and, apparently, his interest in criminal justice has rubbed off on me. I am passionate about behavioral science and I approach these cases in a purely educational manner. The more I learn about the "hows, whys, wherefores & whatnots" in reference to the behavioral patterns of these individuals, the better I get at recognizing them. This particular case got my attention because of a similarity I realized had come from another case you covered earlier this year. The case of John Jamelske, strangely echos the case of Cameron Hooker/"The Girl in the Box". Their M.O. seems to EXTREMELY and FRIGHTENINGLY follow along the same path: - abduction of a woman/or women against their will by initial coercion or false pretense - extreme isolation under terrible conditions - long term physical/sexual torture and psychological conditioning And the thing that struck me the MOST (as if it wasn't already bad enough): - threat of extreme harm to persons related to their victims under the guise of a large, powerful, criminal organization if the victims did not comply. *Both men (Hooker & Jamelske) also introduced themselves to these victims using their "False Name" or "Identity" within these supposed powerful organizations to shed an almost "Masonic-like" or "Illumunati-like" (not sure I spelled that last one correctly) aura which must have served to heighten the level of power these supposed organizations had in the eyes of the victims. (ie. "Michael Powers"/"The Company" [Hooker] & "Mathew"/"The Organization" [Jamelske])* I recognized this eerie similarity in the way that both men handled the whole thing. In addition, both men developed delusions of romantic or personal attachments after a period of time. In both cases, the delusional behavior of both men in their beliefs that they had complete control and had, in fact, "won over" their victims had heightened to a level resulting in their absolute shock when their victims had the courage (or "audacity" in both mens minds) to escape. I wonder if the similarity of these two cases might be linked in some way...maybe one knew about the other and found inspiration in the way the crime was committed. I only say this because that threat of a powerful organization being in control of these women by their captors is what caught my attention and seemed so bloody familiar. The cases seem to parallel each other (although there are definitely marked differences in details between the two cases). I'm interested in your opinions of these observations. Do you also see the parallels and similarities I have found between the cases of Cameron Hooker & John Jamelske? I would love to know if you observe the same things as well. Thank you Danielle. Great work! 👍 I truly appreciate what you do and look forward to more cases in the future.😁
Danielle I see your pain for those girls . What he had done is so terrible it impacted me with feeling of so much hurt . I have two teenage daughters ,and something like this would be my worst nightmare I'd rather be dead than for something like this to happen to my daughters
And there are so many sick men out there. Especially pedos and youtube supports pedos. They are deleting all youtube channels of predator catchers.. the ones still left are Colorado Ped Patrol Predater Poachers and PP Toronto. There used to be about 50 of them.
Omg, danielle I am 52yrs old and have been a true crime fan for 30+ years. I have NEVER heard this case!! Congratulations on telling this tale with such respect for the victims keep up your excellent work
I would love love love to see you do a video on Josh Powell and the whole situation. It’s a crazy and incredibly sad story. His father also got arrested and his brother unalived himself after everything. You should look into it.
Danielle...how do you cope after filming a video like this? I can tell you are always deeply affected emotionally. By the amount of empathy and compassion you show to the victims, the way you discuss their ordeals and really highlight their trauma, it's obvious your heart breaks every time you film. Are there are any particular self-care things you do to look after yourself after you film and edit? If not I hope you do set something up. I'm really worried about the impact this job might have on you as you are obviously a very sensitive and kind person. ❤
How thoughtful and selfless of you to comment this; it's not everyday you read a comment so 100% free of selfishness. I hope she responds because I truly would love to know the answer to your question as well. Thank you Danielle! I watch your stories nearly everyday; if not every week you post a new story. Your doing an amazing job keeping the victims stories alive and spreading awareness and information to the masses in such a beautiful manner. Your makeup is always on point, fyi, just so you know.....and I forget how effortlessly you manage to do BOTH a hard story AND your MAKEUP at the SAME TIME. I can barely do my makeup just talking to myself, let alone looking at a camera and talking about researched criminal cases! Let's not forget the amount of underlining skill one would need to accomplish these tasks in a one hour sitting....so, just know we all acknowledge that and appreciate it so much. I've never got the inkling you resent the "makeup" part, ever, and it genuinely appears you enjoy what you do....despite how hard it obviously is on your emotional well-being at times. I do hope you answer this woman's question for us, if not just consider pondering it for yourself if you haven't already. We love you and I hope to always have your videos to watch each week! If you ever choose to stop, however, I bet all of us will be behind you 100% ; regardless of how heartbreaking that would be for a time. You should remember to put you first in the end, okay? 😊
@@corinneingram8444 Thanks and what you said to Danielle is so lovely too. :) A lot of true crime TH-camrs only do this for a couple of years and I guess there's a reason for that. I do believe that Danielle and most of her colleagues genuinely care about the victims and when you are a compassionate person, focusing day in day out on the innocent people being harmed would really become too much eventually. 💔
I love both of your comments to Danielle :) I noticed when I listen to her podcast, you can really hear her frustration and emotions towards the victims come out. I hope she’s okay as well with all of the hard work she does to put out such quality content for us all. You both are so sweet and it’s true, very rare to find genuinely kind people on youtube, especially in a comment section.

This case happened very close to where I grew up!!! I'm from a small town outside of Syracuse new York and lived in Syracuse for many years. Thank you for doing a case from close to my hometown and I love how you took your time to make sure it was perfect for us subscribers!!
Okay. I know this is from a year ago, but I really love your videos!! I'm going on a solo roadtrip soon and, listening to your videos is REALLY helping me become more aware of my surroundings. That's AMAZING because I'm autistic and have ADHD so things like that aren't a thing, but you're helping me! Thank you! Also, makeup on or off, you're GORGEOUS!!!
Thank you Danielle, for always telling these awful stories with such compassion. You are so authentic and caring, and it really comes across in your concern for the victims, always wishing them the best. You’re one of my favorite TH-camrs.
I'm so glad you covered this case! I went to school in Syracuse, NY and was told about this case when we passed by the house. I've always wanted to know more, especially as it was part of the inspiration for The Lovely Bones.

I live in Oregon ! Collecting and returning cans and bottles is very common ! Here in Oregon every can has a .10 deposit and we have these recycle centers you bring your bags into. Just put each can or bottle into a machine that counts them and spits out a money voucher when your done, scan your ticket at this little atm kiosk and get your money .. I took about 5 10gallon garbage bags in last week and got $50 from them
I live in Michigan and we have .10 deposit too. I love it because my sister always saves her cans for me lol. And it definitely came in handy during some of the harder times in my life.
Unless he takes responsibility and shows remorse I don't think they will ever let him out. It is for the best because someone like that will definitely do it again. He would need to be monitored at all times and would be a high risk to the public. I would not feel safe for myself, other women and young girls if he were released. Sick. Kirsty always does a wonderful job of explaining these cases and I was already emotional but seeing her trying to hold back tears to get through telling this case undid me.
Danielle this has been the most emotive case I have ever heard. You covered it with great compassion. Thank you for researching this story and bringing it to us. I hope you can shake off all the feelings xoxo
Hi Danielle!! Yes!! My hubby’s father was one of those “bottle guys!” He started in the 80’s, like you mentioned and kept collecting plastic bottles and aluminum cans that had a “Deposit” on them anywhere from 5 to 10 cents… He went out every morning before he would go to work up until he got sick with Colon Cancer in 2011. My husband’s family wasn’t poor but they were able to go to Disneyworld, Las Vegas and an Alaskan Cruise over the years thanks to his Dad saving all the money from when he would cash in his can money!! 👍❤️🙏🌟 What a brutal case… wow… 😳🥺🤯 Thank you for all your hard work on all of these cases you do including this one ☝️ 💜❤️💜❤️💜

The amount of times I've heard, "the cops didn't believe.." in some of these cases is just disgusting.
Yeah, they never do. They say the 1st 48hrs are the most important etc.... Then ignore pleas for help and an investigate, they're met with *yeah I'm sure it's nothing/ nah they're a run away* etc. It results in deaths so often and they still don't learn or care. Smh
The first 48 hours are the most crucial but they tell people "we don't consider someone missing until after 24 hrs" like what the actual fuck
literally proof of how cops do not exist to help anyone. that isn’t even their job. they exist to oppress the poor and serve the state
I think they need to keep record (idk if they do but idk if they dont) cause like in this case a cop remembered (luckily) Jennifers story. But what if he didnt? Theyre must be a special system
I honestly want to interview a few. I want to know if they can sleep at night after finding out that the victim was telling the truth.

For real. Super sad.
One of my friends was teasing me about my true crime fascination. These women are the reason. They survived.
Every story teaches us, to trust our guts. To learn the word "no". To disassociate. To fight. To plan. To endure.
I am so sad that they went through this. I am so amazed by thier strength.
Same here....my daughter says I'm obsessed with True Crime but I've learnt so much. These 5 women are incredibly strong 💪 ❤️
Much love from the US ❤
Totally agree with that

I agree! 😊
Same!
The police in this case are absolutely disgusting. Why would people make this up, and they owe the public to try. Protect and serve?
Especially victim #4. She gave so much detail. How the hell was that fake??
I think you're describing a root cellar a place to store food stamps for the winter. In the midwest they're all so used for tornado shelters.
That's just the evil nature of the police and judicial system. All government organizations are evil
Years ago, I was poisoned by a close family member. The police didn't want to know. The doctors wouldn't listen. TWO WEEKS after the event, I was finally able to get a test for one of the poisons I believe was used, a urine test for arsenic. Came back positive for the small amount left in my body. Doctor blamed it on eating contaminated fish.
unfortunately the police are no longer sworn to protect and serve any more
It's the idea of seeing this literal monster CRAWL towards them, out of the dark, whilst being buried and chained to a wall....makes me shudder. It gives me the creeps SO bad. Just waiting to see if he's going to come scuttling down that tunnel on his hands and knees. I really hope all those strong survivors are able to live a life where they are being treated right and sticking it to him by living a good life that makes them happy. All my love to them.
And you cannot just die, even if you pray to God to take you, so you have to not die and live in absolute terror
Terrifying
OmG ..yes ..he's the literal shadow monster 🤮😡😵
god..when you put it like that. nightmare fuel..
No rape charges?? HOW???? Ugh!! That seems like a huge miscarriage of justice. Those poor, poor people. 😭😭😭

@@victoriaskellington Thank you as well. Sometimes people who are respecting, and protecting the victims get lashed out at. The more horrific and gory the story is, the more views they receive. He has also said that it took his lawyers days to convince him that what he did was holding the victims captive. What a sick individual. It's terrifying that there are probably so many more individuals out there that think like this
Omg.. it was sick. He took the last girl on dates and to Home Depot. They were his girlfriends.

You are doing these women justice by telling their stories and bringing awareness to the dark aspects of human nature so that we may learn and do our best to stay safe and aware.

You’re great 🥺😭💜
The fact that he got away with this for so long makes you think how many other people out there are currently getting away with things like this.
We have the 10 cent refund for cans here in Michigan as well, I also turn them in for food and diapers and such.
No, it was built as a bomb shelter. The construction is WAY different from a root cellar
Truly a sad and furious case. I'm just glad that all victims survived. I hope they continue to thrive and live in happiness.
Thank you❤
That is literally what I was thinking. Can someone make that please?
@@Friendlyneighborhoodathiest I wouldn't have the first idea how to do so as I am in Ireland. It would be great to see it up and running
Someone in NY would be a good person to get a petition started. I'm busy trying to help correct my own state right now.
Well he was denied parole, thank goodness. If he cant accept responsibility how could he ever be released?
The one thing I kept finding myself asking over & over was, how in the hell was he finding out the girls addresses & where they lived? Being able to do so much as show up there & get inside & even take pictures, to then come back & show the victim, is absolutely mind boggling!
Small town and right next to the high school. I’m from the area. White pages give addresses.
Back in the day you could get a person's address from the DMV too
danielle's case telling skills are UNMATCHED. i am here for your commentary and explainations and the tribute you give to the victims and the respect you show. love u danielle
We have it in Canada too but mostly in grocery store
We have that in Canada too
We have it in the United States too but you only get 5 cents for any bottle or can 10 cents if you’re in certain other states we have redemption centers and then machines in stores
I love how Danielle always tries to match her eyeshadow color with her nail polish 😍
Yessssssss iv also noticed. It's all in the detail. 😍
Always the 1st thing I look out for lol. Then I go into the description to see what colour polish she's using
He is a danger to society. He would absolutely do this again. The thought that he could get out is terrifying
So does that mean Bailey isn't doing any more MMMM? Because she's already done two episodes since she's been back. So are those the only two?

@@totally_a_spy Oh. Thank you 😊 Two is better than none.
Why do people always bring up this other channel? Who cares? People are watching this one. I don't really understand the purpose of mentioning other youtub channels. Are you trying to get people to go there? Is it your channel? Seriously, who really cares? To me, this entire comment and responses should be on reddit.
I love love love the fact that you respected the victims ❤️ it truly speaks well of your character
Hello. Danielle always does, doesn't she? And she gets sassy, which I love!
I think a lot of cases that broke in the very early 2000's didn't get as much coverage due to the news being so saturated with 9/11 and the aftermath
I love how much dignity you always bring to the victims mentioned on this channel.
Take this off the internet you just doxxed your family
I just heard an unbelievable case that I would like to hear you cover. This might be the most disturbing I’ve ever heard. Junko Furuta. Over 40 days of kidnapping and torture. Many, many people knew this was happening and participated. Reports vary but it’s possible up to a hundred people participated over the 40 days. Love your channel and your unique take on these cases. Your empathy for the victims is obvious and I love your respectful coverage of these terrible crimes and commitment to bring these stories to light. ❤
Yes this case is insane, Rotten mango covered it, would love to hear Danielle do it 🙏🏻
It was the most horrible case I've ever heard about - but also so similar to the hell that poor Sylvia Likens was made to endure in strangely-similar circumstance.
Is this the girl that was stuffed in the chemical barrel after weeks and weeks of torture?
This was one of the few cases that when I was watching a video about it I had to stop and take a good 2 hours or so before i could finish it. True crime is an interesting topic to me and that particular case made me reconsider my interest in it.
I had to look this up and it made me so sick and also so mad. Those boys need to have the same things done to them as they did to that poor girl, maybe worse.
I love that you give us a very brief trigger warning at the beginning. It’s so thoughtful ❤
Great video as usual 😍 note: in sweden we recycle plastic bottles for money. Households collect them and go to the grocery store, recycle them through a machine. Then you get a ticket that you can use at the grocery store. The more bottles you recycle the more money you get.
Netherlands, too.
The unbreakable kimmy Schmidt is loosely based on this story… John Hamm plays a rendition of John that’s kinda spot on 😳
Thanks for your videos girl! 💕
Whoa!! That I did not know!!!
Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne!
Yes that came to my mind as well....
Unbreakable is based on the Elizabeth Smart story by abductor David Mitchell.. same horrible concept but Elizabeth was held by a married couple..
I was wondering if that was true, it was my first thought too
In the U.S we still get money for recylcing bottle and cans.
Greetings Danielle 😊
First, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate what you do on this site.
(I LOVED the "Thursday Murder Club" and the resulting two other books, as well as some others you suggested on your channel)*
I am the Daughter of a retired Michigan State Police officer and, apparently, his interest in criminal justice has rubbed off on me.
Their M.O. seems to EXTREMELY and FRIGHTENINGLY follow along the same path:
- abduction of a woman/or women against their will by initial coercion or false pretense
- extreme isolation under terrible conditions
- long term physical/sexual torture and psychological conditioning
And the thing that struck me the MOST (as if it wasn't already bad enough):
- threat of extreme harm to persons related to their victims under the guise of a large, powerful, criminal organization if the victims did not comply.
(ie. "Michael Powers"/"The Company" [Hooker] & "Mathew"/"The Organization" [Jamelske])*
I recognized this eerie similarity in the way that both men handled the whole thing.
Great work! 👍
I truly appreciate what you do and look forward to more cases in the future.😁
Congratulations on telling this tale with such respect for the victims keep up your excellent work
I'm just wondering why most of us have never heard of this case...??? 🤔🤔
Thank you for your respect and passion while telling these girls stories!
Thank you Danielle for being here and sharing your stories, I appreciate everything you do 🥰 xoxo
I love waiting for a long, in-depth documentary style episode. I listen to these while doing the dishes and house chores on my cleaning day.
A lot of true crime TH-camrs only do this for a couple of years and I guess there's a reason for that.
You did a wonderful and tasteful presentation of this horrible man and his victims.
You didn’t end on a sad note. You shared their stories, and these women will triumph. The only sad thing is this man. ❤
It's a shame his prison cell is even better than the "dungeon of every woman's dreams" he built. He must feel like he's in heaven...
Edit: sorry it just makes me so mad, these women "managed" to survive. Oh, all the charges that flew right over his head...
Yeah, exactly. Like I wonder how many women actually dream of being trapped in a dungeon!
I really love the colours on your eyes! So tallented! Well done.
Poor girls. This story broke my heart.
The respect you have for survivor's wishes is admirable. Glad I found your channel!
I always look forward to your uploads! You always tell the case in such a respectful way and it's always hard to do that.
