It's a rare day when I don't cry to a Babymetal song. When I started listening to heavy metal 40 odd yrs ago, I never thought a band could be cute and adorable and make want to cry.
Su-Metal's so-called death stare is actually the burning gaze of Alexander the Great, which seems to peer into your very soul. Queen Su has a couple other things in common with the mighty Macedonian conqueror. First, there is her self-avowed desire to conquer the world, albeit in her case through music. Then there is the story about a much earlier performance at Saitama Super Arena in 2008. Back then Su was the youngest member of a pop/idol trio called Keren Girl's. Having never played such a large venue before. the two older girls were naturally a bit nervous about it. Su on the other hand was so confident that she decided to take a nap before the show, and slept so soundly someone had to go wake her. The first time I read this story it actually gave me a chill because there is an eerily similar story told about Alexander before the Battle of Gaugamela. It was then that I realized what is so special about Su-Metal. She possesses that intangible something that is the spark of greatness. That might help to explain how such a young girl can exert so total command over her vast legions of fans.
OMG 🥺 thank u for letting us know... that is sad... may he rest in peace and the girl recover soon. You know, as children what they were doing is quite brutal. Even more so in the extremely demanding Japanese entertainment business... if she decides to live a calmer life I will not blame her. This is not for everyone, what. matters is that she tried.
@Mike Mike No she really was sick and has had a few injuries. But Yui wanted more time to play the guitar and try new things. But she took Mikio Fujioka death pretty hard as he was kind of a mentor. Girls work their asses off and frankly I'm surprised they were able to come back after that.
This is from the Legend of 1997 concert, the legend is Su-Metal and 1997 is her birth year. The song is about a 15yo girl going to her first metal concert, not about Su as when they recorded and made the official MV Su was 14 and Yui and Moa were 12. Su has one of the greatest and scariest Death Stares. Keep in mind they go at this pace pretty much an entire concert.
I’ve been privileged to see Babymetal live in concert seven times and it’s an experience every time. They’re amazing. If you like the way they interact with the audience in this one, you should definitely watch the Road of Resistance live in Japan video. It’s the finale song for most of their shows and it’s huge. Listen for the “we are...... Babymetal” call and response at the end and the “see youuuu” as they leave the stage.
GREAT REACTION! The girls and band go HARD on EVERY song, minus the 1 or 2 ballads that they usually perform, and their concerts are about 1.5 hours long. Great reaction Su has the most lethal death glare. Also if you continue she’ll take your soul. The concert was filmed December 2013 it was Su’s 16th birthday 1997 was her birth. The band backing them are the kamiband (god band) unfortunately one of the girls Yui isn’t in Babymetal anymore she left due to health issues so in later videos where their outfits change and they look older although there’s another girl Su and Moa are the main ones but there is a lot with the original trio
You want to see just how good the band is (called the Kami band).. watch Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of Gods Intro. They are some of the finest musicans in Japan. And yes SU-METAL has a legendary death stare. As for the audience - I have stood in the pit and jumped, screamed, swung my towel and sung my heart out. Their fans as insanely passionate and enthusiastic - yet also seriously the nicest and kindest fans I ever met. I can tell you BABYMETAL ALWAYS give 100% when they perform - they never coast, never have an off night, never just turn up. They work hard from the first to the last second to give the very best performance they can.
Glad you came back to them and liked it! Pausing is perfectly fine, I‘d actually recommend to pause a bit more often to be on the safe side. I also think it‘s preferable to pause for your comments than talk over the video. As you have probably realized by now, this was not in 1997. The show is called „Legend 1997“, because that was Su-metal‘s (the main singer) birth year. The show took place one day after her 16th birthday in 2013. Even after years of listening to them, I‘m still impressed by the perfection in pretty much all aspects of their performances. The instrumental parts, the vocals, the choreography and dancing, the crowd interaction, the stage presence, the energy - there‘s really not much room for improvement. And the girls‘ smiles and overall positivity are the icing on the cake. It‘s just a complete package of fun. I‘m torn between two recommendations to give, so I‘ll just write down both: - „Rondo of Nightmare“ for a deeper look into both the instrumental and Su’s vocal skills: th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html - „Pa Pa Ya“ for a newer song with similarly great live energy: th-cam.com/video/oO7Y8NsnkRg/w-d-xo.html
Great reaction, we know exactly how you FEEL, which btw is a core BABYMETAL philosophy: "Don't think. FEEL." Queen Su-metal is famous galaxy wide for her death stare. Conversely, offstage she's been described as bookish, goofy, & kinda nerdy (obviously a disguise). Subscribed! More BABYMETAL please!! Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult
Beware! After the 3rd song you will be lost! They will get you! (but in a good way of course). They will make you smile from ear to ear but they will also make you cry. The variety of their songs is just awesome. Greets from Germany and stay safe!
The statue in the background is a tribute to Metallica's "...And Justice For All" which is really shown in their closing song for this show called "BABYMETAL DEATH" which is a performance that will blow your mind more than this one! And the gong is a tribute to Japanese metal band, X-Japan. 🦊🤘
Great reaction. Their songs is different each to another. They had 40+ songs with different metal sub-genres and styles. It will be a great journey. I'm in!
This song definitely leaves you speechless with talent of the girls and the Kami Band! And too funny that you noted Su’s death stare that can melt your soul with a single glare! Welcome to the foxhole, one you enter you will never leave!!! 🦊🦊🦊🦊
Great reaction, thanks! The concert was "Legend 1997 SU-METAL seitan sai" so it was SU-METAL (the lead singer) 16th birthday celebration at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba on December 21st, 2013. And you are absolutely right: they keep the same level of energy during the whole concert, so it's amazing! As you can see they master on crowd control and audience's behavior is mostly the result of Yui and Moa's (backing vocals and dance) work while Su owns the stage and the whole venue. She's the boss and she makes sure you notice it :) The crowd is another great point here: they were super hyped for all what they were getting so they totally deserved what they got a little later as a closing number hehe... We will back to that later... in the mean time I'd like to suggest you this one: "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014): th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html Until next time!
@@pi0nvillag3r My BabyMetal concert last April was also cancelled. Their chances of this year's world tour are slim. I only hope they can tour the world or release a new album next year!
@@dingjk5630 I'm sort of hoping they do the Budokan shows, as long as that's safe to do and release some amazing show Blu-ray set so we see it all in full glory. Because I don't expect a lot of touring this year. Big maybe... starting October.
I've been around 10 times in Babymetal concert in Japan, and everytime it just likes finishing a marathon. Headband, Wall of Death, Moshing, Screaming with the girls....
Fun info: When i saw BABYMETAL in Cologne in 2016 i was lucky enough to get to barrier from start and the legs of my heavy cotton cargo pants was moving to BOHs bass in the beginning. So yeah, you feel it EVERYWHERE! Nice react! Please give us more live Babymetal.

Also I know this was from 2 years ago. I hope you both still love BABYMETAL. I’m sure you already know by now but the song is about a girl and her first metal/headbang experience. The music video is also incredible. Just an incredible band all around.
I fully believe that Su-Metal was performing as a fetus. One small correction. Your thumbnail says black night and shows a pic of Budokan black night. That is a different concert. This was 'Legend of 1997' at Makuhari Messe the day after Su's 16th birthday. Dec 21 2013. But I'm glad, this was the right video to react to.
A brilliant reaction to a brilliant show/group, great reaction, guys and don't worry about pausing/blurring/etc, it is a reaction video - anything you need to do to not get the reaction video block is fine - looking forward to more of your reaction. Cheers!
Great reaction and I'm sure you've been told everything you need to know by now (sorry I'm late). I'll just say I'm looking forward to your next BABYMETAL reaction and I hope it doesn't take as long to get to it as this one ;-)
For those wanting to know a bit of a backstory on Mikio Fujioka. Mikio Fujioka was an amazing artist & musician. My thoughts go out to Babymetal, Mr. Mikio Fujioka & his family. Mr. Fujioka was a guitar prodigy from an early age. He graduated from the prestigious musician’s Institute of Osaka. At 19 he won the GIT Masters 2000. Fujioka later went on to lecture at a music College. Before joining Babymetal in 2003. Fujioka also authored many textbooks on guitar. Shorty after Mikio's death Yui left due to a continuing illness. So things back in 2018 weren't great really. But they came back even stronger than before. Su-Metal at this point really has come into her own. Not many female Japanese bands have ever made it this far. So pretty amazing they're celebrating their 10th anniversary this year!! :b
This shit's off the hook insane..!! The whole band and performance is on another level..!! I thought bands like Rush, Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, Styx, Queen, Metalica, Jinjer, etc.... were on another level..!!! BabyMetal raises the bar to an almost unsurpassable mark!
Over 5 years I've been a fan. Su's story is fun! And Sakura Gakuin put three girls together and it been an adventure ever since! The shot of Su-Metal in the blue light with her hair stuck to her forehead has been the background on my computer for awhile now.
Great reaction. This has been a setlist staple for so long for good reason. It was this video and the official music video for "Karate" that got me completely hooked in the first place. Gimme Chocolate made me say "oh that was fun" and not think much else about it. This song though, and especially this performance of it, you can't look at this and think they aren't serious about the metal part. I've never really been much of a concert goer at all, but just watching this video was enough for me to say "I have to go to a Babymetal show ASAP" I have to recommend Karate's music video next. Great song and the production on the video is top notch.
It's reactors like you guys who make me love Babymetal much more. Watching your minds get blown away every single time reminds me of the sweet sweet pleasure of discovering Babymetal for the first time. It's just such a unique experience of pure joy. Welcome (back) to the Babymetal Fox hole. We are all eager to follow your journey.
Oh another thing... Eventually, The One (as Babymetal fans are called) will recommend you to react to Death Legend 1997 (which is from the same concert you reacted to already)... Please read the description/translation that usually comes with the video... It will make more sense as you watch the video.....i have the bluray of this concert...And it's a blast....If you watch it from beginning to end, its basically telling the story through the music, how Babymetal goes from a Jpop/metal group to a full on metal band..... and yes the real band comes in mid way through the show, incidently playing with Black Babymetal, the cutest hardcore duo you will ever see.
Your reaction channel is my FAVORITE! You told this exactly the way it should be told These are really KIDS doing all this! HANDS DOWN one of the BEST live performances since QUEEN live in the- 70s. Both band and girls were over the top spectacular. I can't see any act today, that can compare , even slightly to this!
The next song you should react to is Road of Resistance Live in Japan. Their epic masterpiece. You will have to stop every 30 seconds and talk to get past the blocks but well worth it. You will be stunned speechless to the magnificence of it all.
Thank you guys! one needs the Fox God in everyday life I'm glad you did it. get your latest LIVE BabyMetal blue-rays the things that are on YT are good but you'll see.
Yes! Anything from Babymetal is mental! Go watch everything and you won't be dissapointed, also this song MV is lit and more kawai because the girls are so tiny there, as well as different live versions, is almost like every one of them is unique. Anyway you better stop this now or else you going to fall down right in the Fox Hole and of course is trippy af, don't worry we'll be right behind you back you up! \m/
BABYMETAL will not be pigeonholed into a box. With every song (about 50) we often hear "I wasn't expecting that!" Welcome to the fox hole, where you will find many helpful kitsunes. 🦊 You can't go wrong in choosing any BABYMETAL song (there are no duds) to react to. With that being said... DO NOT react to "Babymetal Death - Legend 1997 Live" yet!! You are not ready!! It was a closing number during the same performance of what you have watched (Gimme Chocolate and Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!). This was a show to celebrate Su-Metal's birthday. (She turned 16 the day before). If you do choose to react, well... remember we are #notacult Su-Metal has some solos, which are awesome to give the other 2 a rest. Yuimetal and Moametal (known as Black Babymetal) perform duets to give Su a rest. Unfortunately Yuimetal left in 2018 due to ongoing health reasons and was replaced by non singing dancers on a rotating basis. (Just wanted to warn you ahead of time in case you review something more recent) Loved your reaction and I am looking forward and subscribing to watch your fall into the fox hole!! 🤘🦊🤘
I mentioned this in another reaction video for the same song: That's one thing about Su-metal: in addition to being able to sing extremely well, she has that "I'm so cute" look that can instantly turn into "I will cut your fucking heart out with a rusty knife" look - the definition of "Kawaii metal". But now, since you've entered the foxhole, I suggest going back to their very first official video "Doki Doki Morning". After that, there is just a crapload of songs you really should react to by them. Their latest and greatest is "BxMxC". In short: you ain't seen nothin' yet! SEE YOU!!!
There is a whole universe of Babymetal music/performances that will continually "blow your mind"! As someone else mentioned in the comments, Su just turned 16 years old here and Yui and Moa were only 14 years old during this performance! What you have repeatedly pointed out with Su's stare is Su's amazing stage presence. You need to check out Babymetal "Road of Resistance, Live in Japan" where the drummer (Hideki) was a monster and the level of stage presence and confidence by the three girls is unmatched. Talk about the ability to control a huge crowd (>37,000), Su is the master (and she was only 17 yr old then)! MORE BABYMETAL !!
Finally, after 2 months your second Babymetal reaction, thank you so much! Please don't wait that long for your next reaction. We Babymetal fans are all highly addicted to those reactions and need our daily dose. And yours is really excellent stuff!
Thanks for doing this video. Everything about this song and this music video is topnotch. Su's singing, Mao and Yui, the kami band, the choreography, the lights and set, the way the crowd responds. It's pure magic. Such a good song and a fantastic showcase of their talents and the sheer mountain of hard work they've all put into this. A joy to watch.
5:46 BABYMETAL is really special. I've been listening to metal for almost 20 years and the only other time I heard that drum roll was from Nicholas Barker in Old Man's Child. Whoever wrote this song has seriously good taste.
Shanti Shanti Shanti would be an awesome one for you guys to react to.. it's one of their more recent tracks with a new member.. they fused their style with an Indian flare and it's incredible
Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。In this video, you heard the crowd shouts some words at 05:57. The words are "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!". If you search with keywords "babymetal 2019 forum headbang" you will find videos showing Su-Metal directs her mic towards 17,000 American audiences and they shout the same Japanese words on the cue at the Forum, LA on Oct. 11 2019. Of course the same shout occurs wherever they go.
Karate, Megtisune, Rondo of Nightmare, Road of Resistance, Ijime Dame Zettai, BxMxC, Tales of the Destinies, The One, Amore, Akatsuki, etc. These are just a few songs to react, all different from another and absolutely awesome.

Road of Resistance (live in Japan) for the KO! 🦊🤘
me already lost count watching Headbanger Legend 1997 version and it still awe me.
Looking forward to your next BABYMETAL.
They won't disappoint you😄
Rondo of nightmare with the mischiefs of god intro is more cool. Please your next react.
at Budokan
I‘m torn between two recommendations to give, so I‘ll just write down both:
- „Rondo of Nightmare“ for a deeper look into both the instrumental and Su’s vocal skills: th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html
- „Pa Pa Ya“ for a newer song with similarly great live energy: th-cam.com/video/oO7Y8NsnkRg/w-d-xo.html
This comment right here!
Rondo of Nightmare next if you want to see the Kami Band flex!
Great reaction, we know exactly how you FEEL, which btw is a core BABYMETAL philosophy: "Don't think. FEEL."
Queen Su-metal is famous galaxy wide for her death stare. Conversely, offstage she's been described as bookish, goofy, & kinda nerdy (obviously a disguise).
Subscribed! More BABYMETAL please!!
Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult
At last reaction I had when seeing this😅Thank you!!!
excellent content, What on earth? you ask? not of this earth, not of this world, Babymetal is from the metal galaxy.
Beware! After the 3rd song you will be lost! They will get you! (but in a good way of course). They will make you smile from ear to ear but they will also make you cry. The variety of their songs is just awesome. Greets from Germany and stay safe!
the lead singer is 16 ... this is live ... this girl has more talent in her little finger than most so called stars these days allover ...
What was your 16th Birthday party like?
Get ready to have your mind blown, like, 50 more times...
Kitsune Dao!
The statue in the background is a tribute to Metallica's "...And Justice For All" which is really shown in their closing song for this show called "BABYMETAL DEATH" which is a performance that will blow your mind more than this one! And the gong is a tribute to Japanese metal band, X-Japan. 🦊🤘
Babymetal opened for Metallica in Korea.
Rondo of nightmares if you want to see more of the band
Great reaction.
Their songs is different each to another. They had 40+ songs with different metal sub-genres and styles. It will be a great journey. I'm in!
Please react to Babymetal - ijime, dame, zettai Live sonisphere 2014
Nice to see SuMetal's vocals impressed you (she's a soprano with a C4 to G#5 range) and that her Death Stare gripped your souls!
She's the boss and she makes sure you notice it :)
The crowd is another great point here: they were super hyped for all what they were getting so they totally deserved what they got a little later as a closing number hehe...
We will back to that later... in the mean time I'd like to suggest you this one: "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014): th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html
Until next time!
The only thing I want to say is that I also want to go to this BabyMetal concert. Thanks your great reaction.
Yes indeed. Someone gives me a time machine/teleportation device so I can kill Hitler as a baby I'm going here instead.
man my first 'gonna' be babymetal concert cancelled last year, so gutted. i hope i have chance someday
@@pi0nvillag3r My BabyMetal concert last April was also cancelled. Their chances of this year's world tour are slim. I only hope they can tour the world or release a new album next year!
@@pi0nvillag3r Same here, I feel You bro :(
BABYMETAL 🤘🦊🤘
@@dingjk5630 I'm sort of hoping they do the Budokan shows, as long as that's safe to do and release some amazing show Blu-ray set so we see it all in full glory. Because I don't expect a lot of touring this year. Big maybe... starting October.
Energetic reaction. Worthy of this song, plus points for having it play nice and loud
I've been around 10 times in Babymetal concert in Japan, and everytime it just likes finishing a marathon. Headband, Wall of Death, Moshing, Screaming with the girls....
Jealous is an understatement. Would love to see them live someday
I've waited so long for a new reaction from you guys to a new video from babymetal. you mak,e my day!!!
I was blown away by my first impression of this band. I can't wait for a North America tour.
Thanks man, drummer is a double bass monster, Headbanger live is un- believeable, check out, try BabyMetal
"Catch Me If You Can" live at
Black Night Legend Doomsday show
3 Guitar Solos, Drum Solo, Monster evil Riffs, So Metal, So Cute!!!!
Headbanging with a Smile!!!!!!!
Yeaa, finally a reaction to this song! Thank you guys! You are the best! ))
So glad you enjoyed the Ladies!
Can’t wait to see more, so many great songs, you have a long journey!
🤘🔥🦊🔥🤘
Also I know this was from 2 years ago. I hope you both still love BABYMETAL. I’m sure you already know by now but the song is about a girl and her first metal/headbang experience. The music video is also incredible. Just an incredible band all around.
I fully believe that Su-Metal was performing as a fetus.
One small correction. Your thumbnail says black night and shows a pic of Budokan black night. That is a different concert. This was 'Legend of 1997' at Makuhari Messe the day after Su's 16th birthday. Dec 21 2013. But I'm glad, this was the right video to react to.
You right she had a microphone instead of a rattle 🤘🦊🤘
She had a mic in her hand when she war born for sure haha!
When Su-chan was born she didn't cry out she she sang crystal clear. :-)
Her mother wasn't feeling her kick in the womb. She was feeling her headbanging in the womb.
Kitsunes, get in your requests! Songs and Thongs consolidating requests into one video here: th-cam.com/video/qgQJV4lmV1s/w-d-xo.html
The amount of command over crowds Suzuka has from the very beginning of her career is simply mind-boggling.
A brilliant reaction to a brilliant show/group, great reaction, guys and don't worry about pausing/blurring/etc, it is a reaction video - anything you need to do to not get the reaction video block is fine - looking forward to more of your reaction. Cheers!
BABYMETAL-KARATE (live UK Download 2016) this phenomenal performance live too very worthy of you guys react
Great reaction and I'm sure you've been told everything you need to know by now (sorry I'm late). I'll just say I'm looking forward to your next BABYMETAL reaction and I hope it doesn't take as long to get to it as this one ;-)
ring ring ring, aserazu hurry up!
OK everyone, settle down - the internationally-recognised Babymetal authority is here, with his copy and paste job ready ...
@@neilonaniet Somebody's got to do it and he does it well! In Grington300 300 we trust.
That's our Queen Su-METAL!
Awesome reaction.
BABYMETAL FOREVER
10 years and still Legends
🤘🤘🤘
All hail The Fox God
Great reaction. This has been a setlist staple for so long for good reason. It was this video and the official music video for "Karate" that got me completely hooked in the first place. Gimme Chocolate made me say "oh that was fun" and not think much else about it. This song though, and especially this performance of it, you can't look at this and think they aren't serious about the metal part. I've never really been much of a concert goer at all, but just watching this video was enough for me to say "I have to go to a Babymetal show ASAP"
I have to recommend Karate's music video next.
“The One” welcomes you! #Babymetal is not a cult 🦊 🦊 🦊 🆙
Rammstein... But they are the goats of live metal performaces.
"Yes! Anything from Babymetal is mental!" and most of it is metal too ! :-) (mental/metal, just a single letter difference)
@@autohmae lol 🦊🤘
You was catched by Su's Death Stare.
See you in the *Foxhole* *:)*
BABYMETAL will not be pigeonholed into a box. With every song (about 50) we often hear "I wasn't expecting that!"
Welcome to the fox hole, where you will find many helpful kitsunes. If you do choose to react, well... remember we are #notacult
Su-Metal has some solos, which are awesome to give the other 2 a rest. Yuimetal and Moametal (known as Black Babymetal) perform duets to give Su a rest. Unfortunately Yuimetal left in 2018 due to ongoing health reasons and was replaced by non singing dancers on a rotating basis. (Just wanted to warn you ahead of time in case you review something more recent)
Loved your reaction and I am looking forward and subscribing to watch your fall into the fox hole!!
SEE YOU!!!
Babymetal is a great band. Thank you for a interesting review.
Great reaction to my favorite band. Thanks!
1997 I not when the concert was performed but the year Su-Metal was born. Her birthday is 12/20/1997. She just celebrated her 23rd birthday
Babymetal Death, from the same show, will leave you completely blown away
If you ever get the chance to see them...GO!
Top priority in the "after fucking pandemic is over" bucket list
Off hand, the only other singer I can recall that used a mic' with a half-stand was Freddie Mercury - fitting company.
Wow, what a reaction! I have watched this four times and the both of you made this reaction a joy to watch. Thank you from Ohio.
Just a few . . fantastic order on the list above! Nice glide down the foxhole! :)4
🤘🦊🤘 1st of all TYVM for a new Babymetal reaction :)
🤘🦊🤘 I love these combination of Suzukas stage presence and voice, the neverending energy of Yui and Moa, especially how shy Yui is at Sakura Gakuin (School) at the same time, and this awesome band (Kami Band)

That's what you call a show. :)
Road of Resistance live in japan will drive you nuts. Go for it!
N yea, Su has that killer stare that makes my knees wobbly
You want to see a crowd used as a deadly weapon? You need to do "Road of Resistance". Nice "Grease" reference there at the end.
Great reaction, nearly all Babymetal songs are different so you never know what to expect. You should check out Road of Resistance live in Japan and/or No Rain no Rainbow at Legend S.
