A beautiful modern house perched on the top of a cliff in Johannesburg.
When arriving at the house the building is hidden from view forcing an engagement with a beautiful natural cliff side and only once you have moved around do you start to engage with the home.
The house is strongly defined by the need to sensitively engage with the natural environment, hovering over the edge and using water to accentuate the spectacular view.
Embracing the use of a fine bladed screen façade to define the form, mitigate excessive sunlight, create privacy, and give fine detail to the home. The form is organic in nature helping to frame views away from neighbouring properties while containing and celebrate the arrival area of the home.
