This was a 58 year old Thorkell, had it been a 50 year old one I feel like he would have won, he was at one point the second strongest charcter in the series, not now with age though

@@MangaXo he was tired, maybe he went 85%, but cause of his age couldn't go the full 100% idk lol, but I do feel like age slowed him down some, even strong characters like Askelad admitted he was no match for Thorkell, and He nearly killed Thorfin twice, Thorfin only won the second time cause of Askelads help,

so Garm was wounded by Thorkell weapon, but Thorfinn, at the age of sixteen, was not wounded an inch
...his arm got broken, that's a bit more than an inch
Thorfinn’s a lot shorter, but evenly matched with Garm’s speed. Granted, knives gave the edge in terms of mobility, but lacked the range a spear does. Thorkell just caught Thorfinn by surprise, if the fight continued like Garm’s, Thorfinn wouldn’t have gotten hit.

Both Thorfinn and Garm lost to Thorkell. Thorfinn won through cheating with Askeladd, and Garm tied because Thorkell spared him the killing blow.
This fight was really short only a few panels I hope when it gets animated I hope they show some more oh how Garm and Thorkell were fighting and how they got a ton of bleeding

Do you guys think young Thorfinn is stronger than Garm or the opposite ?
Garm is def stronger than Young Thorfinn in my eyes. This Thorkell may have only one eye and a little older but I think he is much more experienced now especially after fighting younger thorfinn. The Thorfinn we also currently have is stronger than his Younger self, in my eyes at least our new thorfinn has a stronger body AND has had to adapt to various opponents without using his blades. Basically the younger thorkell was stronger than younger thorfinn so much so that they had to kinda "cheat" to win but Garm has to fight and even stronger thorkell and go evenly matched with him.
The author drops several heavy-handed character statements that Garm has more potential as a fighter, but it's also kept intentionally vague.
Thorfinn would have lost against Thorkell during their duel without Askeladd's support whereas Garm fought him to a draw on his own. HOWEVER, Garm confirms that Thorkell was holding back at least one killing blow. So at the very least GARM believes Thorkell should have won their fight.
Garm states to Thorfinn after their duel "You're on a higher level I'll admit. You're more experienced, however I have more potential/talent! You're dead next time we fight!". HOWEVER, Thorfinn points out that it takes more skill to fight non-lethally.
Personally, I think the author is trying to tell us Garm is the more naturally gifted fighter, but he's leaving enough wiggle room so that those who really want Thorfinn to be the best can make a case for it. It's excellent writing :)
@@dressednplaid4875 I think young Thorfinn would win. if you think about it Thorfinn never got wounded in fight by Thorkell weapon, while you see scratches on Garm and axes’ wounds made by Thorkell should be fatal wounds, but just like Garm said Thorkell holded the killing blow against Garm, meanwhile with Thorfinn you could argue he didn’t cause he wanted to fight what remained of Thors at his might or you could argue that he holded the killing blow on Garm simply because he got older or maybe for the influence that Canute had on him or maybe that for the lack of wars in that period he didn’t want to lose a new toy like Garm(we see him trying to find new toys to lose time and to get entertainment after slave arc). By seeing Thorfinn weaponless vs Garm one could theorise that Garm would be stronger than young Thorfinn, but you have to consider that Thorfinn doesn’t want to kill and that knives make great difference in close quarters because every dodge could be a fatal blow and he could parry Garm’s strikes with knives. By seeing the difference in the fights between Thorfinn vs Thorkell and Thorkell vs Garm you could see that Thorfinn in close quarters should be stronger than Garm and he could kill him. I still think that a fight between the two the outcome shouldn’t be predictable, but I support that Thorfinn should be stronger than Garm.(see even Thorfinn vs Snake, every dodge he did could have been fatal blows cause Thorfinn mostly countered after dodging a blow, like his kicks would have been fatal hits with knives)
You must have an IQ of 5 if you think young thorfinn is better than Garm.
Thorfinn would lose in speed and range. Not to mention young thorfinn could be outplayed relatively simple, as that was his biggest flaw in Season 1.
