I went to a used car dealership and a guy tried to talk me into a car with a gigantic crack across the windshield. When I pointed this out, he said I should just buy it and then make an insurance claim. He literally told me to commit fraud.
I for one am quite surprised, as my local Honda dealer is absolutely fantastic and they have always treated me with respect. But also, there's other Japanese car dealers around and I can't say the same about them. So I guess it's not really the brand, but the people that run the dealership. Especially that Toyota dealership, they treated me like a complete idiot (I know the difference between an automatic and a manual you tw*t).
I had a sort of bad experience with honda but thats cuz they secretly added "titanium wheel coverage" and i told them that i didn't want it cuz i had wheel covers. After a few months I realized that they did add it anyway. I was livid. But 3 years later, im happy with the car itself. Just hate Val and Brian from Culver city honda.

There is a Ford dealership in Victoria BC that does the same as the first one. Until someone finally called 911 and said that he and his wife were being held against their will. They (the dealership) got in big shit over that. Edit: Never give them your keys, all they need is a photocopy of your drivers license for a test drive. A good salesman can sell a product to the customer. A great salesman can talk customers into buying a product and other (Unnecessary) add-ons. The best salesman, however, makes sure to find the customer exactly what they (The customer) wants.
they don’t care about you, being a saleman is about commissions as the pay is dirt. my dad used to work like that and he told me he hated being a jerk to get a little bit more money but it was the only way to make enough for us.
Derpo Cheeseball not all salespeople are like that. I was in gym membership sales for 7 years and the ones that pressured people never had good sales. It’s all about actually helping people get the right product/service and leave them with a good impression of you and the business. That way they’ll tell their friends positive things to get you referrals. That’s where you start making the big commissions. Majority of my sales were all referrals from someone I’ve signed up before
@s cass Also depends what you're selling. If the motorcycle shop/dealership (they sell parts as well) close to me tried to strip as much money out of me as they can for the one first time purchase, I would never go back there. Because I've never been dissatisfied with their service I've went back a multitude of times over the years. They never try to push anything on me and just ask if I need anything else, so not only are they respectful, but they've also gained my respect and through that a loyal customer. Sure enough, car dealerships can act differently, since it's such a big one time purchase.
@s cass as others have mentioned this isn't true at all, often the best sales tactic is to NOT try to upsell on everything to get the biggest possible sale but to, instead, establish a strong and reliable customer base with a good reputation for helping people as this will bring the best long term profit. What you suggest is a good way of losing money in a sales job.
It wasn't directly aimed at me since it was a TH-cam ad, but towards the end the guy slipped up and more or less admitted it was a scam. The ad was for something called salt therapy which is apparently some kind of holistic BS that apparently helps with your breathing.
Idk what exactly the ad was for, but generally I thought like some salt stuff can help with breathing. Like at some point in school we learned about some building that Idk but it helped with breathing problems. So how did he admit it was a scam?

I've been to a therapy where they used something like that (it was salt water vapores if I remember correctly) and they claimed it helped with asthma (they mostly dealt with people who have asthma) but I didn't have asthma and I had to do it anyway (I was a kid so they forced me to do it) and I'm not sure if it didn't actually make my breathing worse. I know for a fact that after each session of that I would cough my lungs out bc of all the moisture in my airways. That place was a total nightmare for me and it made me feel uncomfortable around the Sea...
I was interested in a speed reading course, but the guy started bragging about how I was falling into every step of his salesman tricks. I was weirded out of there, but the guy call me a couple of times after, somehow convinced that I was still interested on his deal. Also, my mom had to deal sometimes with people who try to sell her clothes 100% polyester, claiming thats the english word for "cotton"
I went to a local store for a new phone. I researched everything I wanted in my price range before this and walked confidently that I will make a purchase that day. The man showed me my phone and when I mentioned the camera he continued to show me "better phones" that have the best cameras, which were above my price range. I specifically wanted a Xiaomi and he kept pushing a Samsung that I could not afford. When I told him I am not interested in other phones, he kept pushing me by saying that Xiaomi are bad phones and Samsung are the best. I was so disappointed because I was ready to buy the specific phone I came in to buy...the moment he went to grab another phone to show me while talking like I was near him...I heard 20% of what he was saying...and I turned around to never come back. Ironically, there was a store right next door, I bought my desired phone in minutes and couldn't help but pass by the first store while flaunting the bag from the second store with my new phone in my hand. I don't know if he saw me but that was enough for me.
I had a window guy show me windows and a sliding glass door. They were all way to much money for our small house and he pretty much said. "Dont buy this it's too much money" we appreciated his honesty. Good story I guess
I love honest salesmen, if they try to sell you expansive stuff and they agree with you that these aren't worth it some of them might be going to show you how to get the same stuff cheaper (different brand name but the same manufacturer mostly). I am more likely to buy from that guy, because I appreciate the honesty and that they really listened to me when I said "sorry I can't afford that"
Once had a guy try to sell me a water purifier that supposedly "split the molecules of the water apart to leave only pure water" now im no physicist....buuuuuuut....
I spent 15 years selling Honda’s. Most salespeople don’t know when to shut up. Listening to your customer makes the process much easier. A lot of Honda owners know more about the product than sales does so don’t make crap up. I always tried my best to never act like a salesman. I knew the end was near for me when new leadership decided that they would no longer provide all details of pricing to the customer. Shady very shady. You also try to build repeat business but with Honda’s value and reliability I might not see a previous customer for years. So I just tried to stay in contact through the years. It also helped if you drove what you sold. My 2006 Ridgeline is still going strong. Some of the business I miss but I’m not going back!!!
As a Die-Hard Honda Fan Boi I love this. Yep. Friends with my dealer service department. I usually diagnose the problem and tell them just to replace part XYZ. LOL. You're definitely right about Honda owners being well educated on their Hondas!

I know you want to be the one to get a sale, but if I don't know what I want I'm going to look around and find something I'm interested in, and I don't need help with that. If you want to come out and give me your card and then leave me alone, I'd be perfectly happy to make sure when I come back I'll come to you. Otherwise leave me alone.
Walked into mechanic shop, asked about getting a tire. Guy raises his voice to me "HOW AM I GOING TO SELL YOU A TIRE IF YOU DONT KNOW THE SIZE" I didn't even yell back just replied "You're not" an walked right out. I can tell he wasnt expecting it
I remember around Christmas of 2015 me and my father went to game stop to buy the brand new call duty. We wanted a used copy to save money. So we walk up to the counter and the game stop employee says it would cost nearly $60 for a used copy. Excuse me What?! We Went to a nearby target and found it for $30. I’ve never trusted a GameStop after that.
I had a similar experience with Xenoblade Chronicles when it was only on the wii. They were selling only used copies for $80, when the new game was only $60. Turns out, they were opening brand new copies of the game, which allowed them to put their own “pre-owned” price, which was why each copy was $80. It was hard to find that game to begin with, but GameStop’s dishonesty is the reason I refuse to buy anything from them again. Customer service is a whole other headache as well
That's how GameStop runs their business. They buy used copies for dirt-cheap then sell it back at stupid markup while abusing their employees and not paying them livable wages. Zero Originality blew the whistle on them back in like 2008 but his channel got deleted.
I went to a car lot with a friend. The guy ends up talking to me. I had informed him at the outset that I was just there with my pal, that I wasn’t buying anything. Meantime, my bud is in the office. And this salesguy is keeping up his patter to me. “Sign this intent to buy, and i can guarantee you I’ll have you in a vehicle for $100 TODAY!” I reminded him I’d already told him I WASN’T BUYING ANYTHING. Then he did one of the dumbest things a salesman can do: out of sheer desperation, he tried negotiating from a position of weakness. “Bob, listen to me, this is my profession, this is how I make my living.” Me: “Keep trying, I’m sure you can do better.” My bud came out of the office and we left. He told me that their pushiness and refusal to listen completely turned him off.
To the last guy, I know he won't see this but I want to put this into the universe. That ahole sales rep was the universe telling you not to go through with it. I want you to know that there are strangers out here who care and I praise your strength for not succumbing to those feelings. I hope your life is in a place where you are happier now and are free of those feelings. I remember a few years ago, my parents had someone from a waterproofing company (our basement had flooded a few times) come to our home. The company's name had something to do with Star Trek (think of the hand gesture Mr. Spock makes). Basically, the guy sat down with my parents in the dining room and told them how a trench would need to be dug around the perimeter of the entire house (at a cost of about 20 grand) to effectively waterproof the house, otherwise we could be subjected to future, more catastrophic flooding. My mother told me he was essentially trying to scare her into the sale, but both she and my dad knew better than to go with that option.
So the one where the guy had to demand his keys back 4 time has an easy fix, that being the fact they are holding you against your will and keeping your property from you. Simply inform them you are calling e police about the attempted theft and unlawful detention, take out your phone and start dialing By not giving your keys back that means you cannot leave because if you do who knows what will happen to your car for all you know it ends up in a chopshop as well as not having a reasonable way home since you drove there. They either give the keys back or get to have fun with the police.
I have a story: Not me but my dad. We have a large pool in our backyard with the thing that blows out water (don't know how to traslate it) and one day it broke and when the guy from the company arrived and looked through what was wrong He said that „the 0 plastic cover is broken” wich was basicaly just a *pice of plastic* that was about 25 cm high and 15 cm wide. So my dad asked him how much will a new one cost (He was expecting roughly 20-50 usd since it was just a plastic cover and nothing else, but the guy topd him it would cost *580 usd* (WTF) and my dad just looked him dead in the eye an said „get the fuck out of my house” and the guy was gone.
My in-laws had my husband verrry late (like the latest his mom could before her hot flashes) some body called my father in law “great grandpa” when he was holding my daughter. It was very awkward because he corrected them and got offended, it was so abstract. Also my dad looks 25 despite being in his forties so people would think he was my older brother and my mom was his mom

I recall Mall venders, especially during the holidays, trying that shit where you go look at something, they maybe hassle you a bit, and before you leave they're like, "So you just gonna do me like that? Spend all that time looking and browsing when there's a good deal there?" And then gimmie a sob story about trying to provide money so they can buy toys for their kids... Um, dude, you're SELLING toys as is! Then they tried to get cute and send an attractive woman to random guy (in this case me) ask to "come here" and then proceed to lotion down my black, ashy-ass hands! xD And then be like, "So how many should I put you down for? I'm giving you a discount because I think you're cute!" ".....I never asked for it. Have a nice day,"

Oh yeah, wow. This is one of few reasons I hated working for Kmart/Sears. I'd have to ask all of that information for the Shop Your Way rewards card/account, and ask for a phone number for EVERY CUSTOMER. Exhausting, and people were AWFUL about it (understandably so, it's annoying!). It's probably the same for Bed, Bath & Beyond - the manager breathes down the cashier's neck and threatens that they'd be let go (or subject to some scalding performance reviews, which then leads to termination) unless they get all that information from a customer.
I always pretend I don't have my phone on me (luckily I'm one of those who always keeps it in their bag), and that I don't have the number memorized. I also made a dummy email account with a very offensive name just for such occasions.
Working in retail that pushed in getting customer’s information, I would just type in a random email and phone number if the customer declined, just to get it over with.

I remember a couple of years ago my mom was looking for a new car. She’s not a big car person so she really just wanted something of good quality and not ugly. The salesman started out really charming: laughing and whatnot when we were initially talking about something pricey. Well the conversation drifted a bit as my mom went through her options and she asked about a car that was on a lower end then the initial car. Well the salesman laughed and said something to the effect of “I just think it’s funny how we go from car A to car B, but I guess it makes sense to people who don’t know cars.” And proceeded to make a bunch of other condescending remarks to her like she was stupid. I think we were both immediately turned off and we ended up leaving not too long after that.
Dealership's think this is a good thing to do treat women like crap, treat people like they are stupid, and keep harrasing until you make a sale. The dealership I found asked me once if they could help me when I said not yet, he said let me know if I can help you and left us alone until we were ready. We've bought two vehicles there.

Sales associates that are condescending towards women lose my business automatically. My mom was a successful international business-owner, as well as CFO in charge of all finances both in the company and at home due to her financial expertise. It's also a cultural thing in my background where women tend to be in charge of family finances, since they're the ones managing children and household affairs, and likely the family business (if any) to boot. Applies to my grandmothers, aunts etc. I once had someone in the West try to sell a private healthcare plan (corporate-style) who kept saying client "and wife". I literally couldn't understand him till the third time (had to keep asking him to repeat) because the concept was so foreign to me: I kept thinking...my mom doesn't have a wife. Needless to say I walked out of there.

During my 5th grade year is when my dad straight out screamed his head off to demand a door to door salesman to leave. My dad had already answered the front door and said "no solicitors." The salesman was just standing on my front lawn when my grandmother arrived to drop me off from school. He on purposely stayed to talk with her instead but acted as if I wasn't even there when I went to go inside my house. The salesman legit ignored me when I even told him I would let my dad know. My dad was just so pissed off when I went inside to tell him.
My biracial self went car shopping with my white father. Every dealership we went to the sales guys wouldn't be able to hide the reaction when I said he was my dad. They though he was some rando standing too close to me.
When he said I couldn't afford it. I had the cash in my back pocket... I was spending 20k on a car, showed up the next day with a 100k car and had the salesman fired for treating customers like shit.
When I first moved out of home at 18 I had to go furniture/appliance shopping using a fresh credit card with no interest for 9 months so basically had several thousand dollars at my disposal. I was constantly profiled as someone looking for trouble because of how young I was and walked away from plenty of inept salespersons on attitude alone.
I’m kinda glad I found this, it reminds us that despite all the Karen and malicious compliance stories, the employees can be just as bad with the customers.
When a dude said I could see the cars history records only after I bought it. They went out of business 4 months later. And when I walked into a dealership and the salesman said he had to talk to his boss. He walked 3 steps and had a conversation right behind me and talked as if I wasn't there. And the boss was an asshole. When the salesman sat down, I already knew the stupidity that lay before me. He pushed a paper in front of me and said that he could drive me over to their neighboring dealership to check out the car, but first I had to sign a paper that would injure my credit score and have me pay a fee for services. I said hell no, I'll just drive myself there, and he apologized the I couldn't be more reasonable and that it was because of me that a deal couldn't be reached. I laughed and drove 10 minutes to their 2nd dealership and the car wasn't even there. It had been sold a year ago and nobody had bothered to put it in the system. So I dodged a bullet, and learned to never trust that dealer. Never going back. Oh! I just remembered another! This one takes the cake! I went to test drive some cars and a dealership got me into them, no strings attched. The only problem was, the 2nd car wouldn't start. Got in the 3rd one and the drivers' seat belt was missing. I only got to this point because the car I wanted (and had scheduled an appointment for) didn't even exist. After the 4th one, I looked at the lady who was clearly embarrassed and I said jokingly, "I'm gonna stop this right here before something really tragic happens. Thanks for the adventure!" And went across the street to another dealership. We couldn't get into the 4th car because she had trouble finding the keys to it and when she asked if I could wait, my brain kicked in and said, "why should I?" Definitely sticking with Carmax from now on.
I can't stand car salespeople who play games. They talk really fast and leave me hanging while supposedly talking to the sales manager. I remember when I had a Toyota Corolla. It was a good care that I drove for work and it was dependable. But I wanted a truck. I found a 4 door midsize Dakota that was 9,000. I didn't want to get a new 40,000 truck and I don't care for 6 years of payments. I went into the dealership. The salesman was cool and he let me park the car there and take the truck for the night. I drove it hard. I went over it and it was in excellent condition. Just had normal scratches and dings. I thought I hit the jackpot. I went into the dealership and said I want it. He said great! He and the finance guy had the balls to work up a deal to get me financed for a new Ford Fiesta!!! I told him that I came here to purchase this truck. He said but with a new car you get a warranty, and with you traveling for work, it will use far less gas. He then said that sometimes you have to consider your needs over your wants... I told him I need a truck and don't want a car. I was furious and left. The next day I calmed down and got to thinking that the truck is an awesome deal. I checked online and they still had it. They lowered the price by 500.00. I went back to the dealership and the same salesperson said did you come back for that car. I said No, I came for the truck and that is what I want. I also want it for the new lower price. He wrote up the paperwork and sent it to the finance guy. He did not write it up for the new lower price. The finance guy had to redo the paperwork. I have bought numerous vehicles over the years. Normally at the end of the sale I am shaking the salesmans hand and we laugh and chat for a bit... This guy didn't hand me the keys. He said to me that I am going to regret the purchase as I will have problems with that truck. I told him that he was an asshole and flipped him off in front of the other salespeople. But I have owned the truck for 5 years now and only had to perform regular maintenance.
I remember last summer seeing an ask Reddit video where one of the people said she went car shopping as a young woman in the ‘70s. She’d apparently brought her dad with her and the salesman kept directing all his questions to her dad as if he were the one buying the car, even after they’d told him that she was the one purchasing. Apparently they wound up buying from a different dealership.
This happened to my parents and its hilarious. They were listening to a time share and had an rest stated they weren't that interested. He keeps trying and trying but they say no. He then says I normally don't do this but I'm going to go talk to my boss about a deal. He then, I kid not, walks straight into the bathroom, then comes out 10 minutes later telling them that his boss has a deal for them. This was in the 90s so no cell phones so this guy literally walked into the bathroom and never talked to his boss

I was in a local skateshop and the guy was clearly baked. I started checking the prices on the boards, just looking to save a few dollars off the $200 to $280 I was about to spend for my own recreation. The guy kept trying to push gimmick trucks and other parts on me. "These trucks are magnesium core axles, they are lighter. This has a carbon fiber weave, it makes the board stronger. These are hexagon bit hardware, you got to have an allen wrench to get them on and a few are gold plated. These are Ceramic bearings, they make you go faster." Everything he suggested was absolutely unreasonably priced. The bearings he suggested were $200 alone, the ones that I've always buy are $16 and outlast the boards I buy. After a lot of almost confrontational, passive aggressive talk from him. He dropped the line. "No idea how I'm going to stay open with so many cheap people in the area." The look on his face when I responded "Yeah, I have no Idea either. Put it all back." Opened my skateshop in the same location after he went out of business. His shop lasted 3 months, mines been open for 5 years. I don't do gimmicks. Come in with $100 and you got yourself a complete deck. May not have the bells and whistles or prestige as a pro deck, but its a cheap work horse thats well worth more money. I design the graphics and have my own decks made in quantity to pass the saving on. Same makers of many pro decks, just without the pro deck price.

Me and my boyfriend where looking for a gym and the sales man told us that a lady lost her fingers to a machine (he was basically making fun of someone that literally lost fingers 2 weeks ago) then when I told him I'll be back and that I just wanted to see my other options he then said well why are you gunna go to look at gyms if you don't have money (24 hour fitness) after a good 4 weeks of soul searching we found one (lifetime fitness) it was the best decision ever made my bf lost almost 100 pounds and I couldn't be happier
I used to work at a retail store where they would hassle you to get their special credit card (which I've heard was overly expensive when you try to pay it back with its interests) I always hated when we were required to really ask the customer and even if they say no once we have to keep on showing the benefits until they seemed to be uncomfortable or upset. I must say that I only ever asked once because I felt bad for those who were pressured to get something that they wouldn't like if they got it. Hell I've seen a non English speaker get pressured into getting the credit card and I don't think she had any idea what she would need to do with it. It was awful

Well known carpet retailer. I went there instead of my usual local boys who do my house for me since they had a sale on. Saw one carpet in this big carpet store I liked. Asked a salesman if it was also on sale. He scoffed and said "No! I could sell these all day!" With a big grin on his face. "Not to me you aren't" I replied and walked out. The local guys did my carpet as professionally as usual and the big store I've never even went in since.
When I was in my first or second year working as a nightshift nurse, I kept getting telemarketer calls multiple times a day to the point of harassment. They kept waking me up and I was getting really irritated. The one l that peeved me the most was the guy who got super-pushy and chatty. Telemarketer: Hi, am I speaking to PHN? One time everything went well until the end. At the last moment I said, "alright, well seeing as how you're the first place i stopped and the first car i looked at, i do want it, but i would like to look at another car or two and sleep on it. I dont just jump into stuff without thinking about it." He was like, "ARE YOU FUCKInG KIDDING ME. I thought we were here to make a deal...." he said I few more things that I just tuned out as I left with no intention to return. I really wanted the car and my wife wanted me to go back and deal with another salesman to get it. I refused. If he would have said "no problem, I hope to see you tomorrow" there was about a 99% chance I would have bought that one.

I was in Hawaii as a marchingband trip and me and my roommates were walking around the shopping center when we come across a saltwater pearl shop where you crack open the oyster to get your pearl. It was pretty cool. I got a nice lady that helped me get the cheaper option for setting the pearl in a necklace, but my friend got another salesman who kept on pressuring her with these (admittedly gorgeous) sets that are decorated with diamonds. She considered it, but she had decided that it was to expensive and she could probably find somewhere cheaper to set the pearl at home. She said no, and the guy barely acknowledged her decline and tried to convince her saying “This pearl is going to be without a home” and “you’re making a mistake” “look how beautiful this is. Don’t forget that’s a real diamond” He got more aggressive and rude about it. And at this point me and my other roommate are waiting for her. I observe what’s going on and reassure her that she’s okay, and to stand her ground because he was hassling her. When he went back to get something he claimed was cheaper, I told her to tell him that she is either buying just the pearl, or she is leaving without paying. When he was bagging the pearl he was glaring at us and basically threw the pearl at her. I remembered his name and later called the company about it. I don’t know what happened after that, and I usually don’t like ‘calling the company’. But the way he was acting was extremely rude, unprofessional, and almost drove away a sale. It was like he’s never been denied before in his fucking life. It spoiled our moods for the rest of the day. The irony of this is that I bought a cheap kid’s thing where you open a clam to get a dinky, most likely plastic, pearl with this little locket style necklace to put it in. It was like $12. I gave the necklace part to her and it looked gorgeous with her pearl in it and on her. So yeah. Fuck you Charlie.

My thought process was that if he was going to commit suicide, how expensive the method was wouldn't factor in because he wouldn't have the need or ability to spend money on anything else afterwards. Didn't realize that suicidal people can still care about what happens to other people after their death. In which case I don't get what led to being suicidal in the first place if not crippling apathy, since committing suicide would only hurt his family when he could instead spend the rest of his life helping them and others. I don't want to be insensitive or dismissive but I don't understand the logic.
I had a car salesman try to sell me a piece of crap for (in his own words) an amazing low interest rate of 23%. I walked out on the spot. I had another try to change the deal behind my back and threaten me when I found out he changed the loan amount/ payment that we agreed on. He tried the whole "well you're stuck with it because you signed some paperwork" but I told him the deal was never finalized since I didn't receive the keys. He then tried to make harassing phone calls to get me to come to the dealership to sign some paperwork stating that I was backing down from the deal or something. I told him I don't have to sign sh** and if he didn't stop calling I would call the better business Bureau. That was the last I heard from him.
I had a Honda dealership refuse to finance me anything until I had at least 3 pay stubs to show them. Being a brand new nurse and only getting paid every other week that was impossible for a while. The pay stub I had for her showed that I could easily afford the used car. She said I wasted her time. The next week I drive off a different lot with a brand new Toyota. Have loved that car ever since. That dealership also gave me a lot of extra benefits
That part about the furniture guy using the "deals" given by the manager is completely true. I breifly had a stint offering plans for english lessons and my boss gave me a schpiel I had to memorize whenever I had a client. It included telling them a "normal" prize, but that we were offering a special package that included all the materials (the materials are included in all situations) and that I made up a "discount" that can be applied to that particular client "Because you're still underage, because you're a housewive, a special offer for parents" etc. But it was all bull, but, hey, it was my first real job. I finally quit when he gave me another "tactic" offering them a special price "but they had to say yes right now". I hate when vendors do that shit to me and I couldn't, in good conscience, do the same to others.

My mom and dad got (lied) invited to a MLM party. When my mother realize the BS she was about to get up and left, but the person showing how great the mlm was, literally said to my dad "arent you the man of the house? Don't you deal with the money of the family" , which my dad, one of the few times he wasn't raging at someone, answer "she is the breadwinner, she is the boss" and both left.
That last one was really sad. I hope he's still here and he is in a better place mentally. Whoever you are my dude/dudette keep strong. Trust me every now and then I still get the thought and want to do it. It's not easy and alot of times it doesn't getting easier no point in lying. You got this just keep trying.

While house shopping we thought we found our dream home. Everything was good. The person started bragging about doing all the work to the house themselves. Mentions driving a big bulldozer type truck over the yard because a tree had fallen.....I asked him if he drove over the leeching fields for the septic tank, he didnt see a problem with doing that. Yea had it inspected and the septic was all fcked up, he called us liars and said the guy inspecting everything was “part of it” lol
i was only 15 and home alone when a traveling sales guy knocked on the door, and since no one usually bothers us, as our house is kinda in the middle of nowhere, i just assumed it was a package. literally the only i didn’t check the peep hole. before i could even say hello he asks me if my HUSBAND is home. i also feel that it’s important to know that i can be very paranoid sometimes and have probably watched too much law and order svu for my own good. i was so caught off guard and so distracted being mad at myself for opening the door i accidentally let it slip that my parents were out walking our dogs, but would be back very soon. the guy said he’d just leave then, and let me tell u i sprinted all around the house locking all the doors and windows.
Recently while getting money from a atm 2 guys in a sports car drove by me and the guy next to me asking if I wanna buy a gold chain. From looks alone you can tell it looked like a yellow plastic chain Out of walmart or a doller store. Said no. The whole thing felt like something out of "everybody's hates Chris"
By not saying anything at all, at least not to me. I wanted to buy my first car when I was 19 and my dad went with me. We went to this used car lot around the corner from us and mentioned to the manager that I was the customer looking. Totally ignored any of my attempts to ask about any features, work done, etc.(I love cars and know a lot about them), and only spoke to my dad, probably because I was a woman. Nope. Left and that place didn't end up lasting that long. What a shock.

Went to a dealership looking to buy a Camaro. Took one step in the door and a young sales guy hanging around by the entrance took one look at me and instantly decided what I needed was a chevy cruze and started his sales pitch to sell me one. Ended up leaving within 5 minutes having never looked at what I came to see. Ended up having a great experience at a different dealership and ended up buying at 13k under MSRP.
Reminds me of a story about a car salesman kept asking the dad of a girl if he wanted to buy the car when it was the girl who had all the money. They went back to the dealership and got their keys and left as the salesman tried to get the dad to talk sense into “the ignorant kid” he told the salesman and his boss that she was his financial manager at their family practice. Both of them were slack jawed. Story went something like that.
My father and I looked at Teslas. The salesman puts 100% attention on my dad and ignores all my questions until my dad asks them for me. Then minute we left I told my dad never to buy from that man. Lesson here: pay attention to the people the buyer brings--they're the first opinions the buyer will ask for
I'm big into car care and was looking for some specialist, very absorbant, microfiber towels they make specifically for cars. In my town every year they have a street market and i knew they'd be selling them there. When the day came I went straight for the car care stand and asked to buy 5 towels for about 30$ a piece. The salesman asked what size car i drove and i responded a volvo wagon. He then said i'd only need 1 towel to dry the whole car and proceeded to chuck water on his display car to show how well they worked. I ended up buying 3 towels and he threw in a bottle of free wheel cleaner. Tl;DR Salesman talked down a 100% sure-thing big buck sale to a smaller one and gave me free stuff on top of it. Nice guy, but not the cleverest
I was accosted by a UNICEF employee (or is it volunteer work?) just outside Tivoli in Copenhagen. Of course he tried to sell me all this crap about helping the needy and helping the children, but when I started to give some resistance, because I'm the kind of guy who thinks we should eliminate the cause, not simply treat the symptoms, he started to change his tactics and went into guilt-trip mode. I have enough guilt over stupid shit as it is, I don't need someone else to try to pile more onto me. That's when he immediately lost any and all of the already incredibly slim chances he had.
Phone sales back in the day, when iPhone was not all-dominating. As soon as I stepped in the store, a salesperson jumped on me. I told them I quite literally stepped into the store and was just looking. He kept pestering me every 30 seconds ('You know this phone has *new feature, etc. etc'). In the end, I just sighed, and in my best exhausted voice said, 'Please! Just leave me alone!'. He backed off. Less than 2 minutes later, a second salesperson asked me if I was looking for a new phone. I had enough and without eye contact blankly said, 'No' whilst reading all the little notes about the phones. He must have been confused because he just stood next to me without saying a word. I stayed there for half an hour (I was researching, but not committing to buy just yet) to make it more awkward for him. Took him a while before he realized i would not be asking him any questions, and walked away.
I was trying to convince my pops I needed a hyabusa and told him it got great gas mileage and blah blah sales man was giving a great pitch until he mentioned to the father of 18 yr old me "did I mention it's the world's fastest product motorcycle" and it's top speed my pops instantly noped out ( I needed him to co sign)
I was the sales supervisor but the store manager came over and totally tried to get this old woman to buy our trendiest purse because it was double the price of the one she was literally walking to the line to purchase, that I convinced her to buy because it was timeless and she was old... She figured we were both BSing her and ended up with nothing. I quit a few weeks later for different reasons lmao.

Me and my brother went to a dealership and told the salesman I didn't want a Honda. The first car he brings out is a Honda I go sir I don't want a Honda so he brings out two more before telling me about another car another Honda. My brother shot me a look then he takes us to another car that not only didn't start but still wouldn't start after jumping the battery. We were sitting in the car while he tried to jumped the battery my brother just said we will call you later never went back.
My mother recieved life insurance money when my brother passed away and she decided to recarpet her whole house...she went to a carpet store that someone recomended... my mother and I were in the store no more than ten minutes looking at carpet samples when an elderly salesman came up to my mother and said, "Hurry up and pick something out, lady, this isn't an art gallery"...we were totally shocked that someone would be that rude...a younger salesman came up to us and apologised profusely, telling us to take all the time we needed to look at the samples but this incident made us leave the store. 🤨
Not as bad as the others but... once at a small market I found a rather nice glass/crystal bottle and the seller who saw that I was interested claimed that it was a unice, antique bottle who worked excellent, was in good condition etc so he wanted around 20 Dollars for it. while he was busy bragging about the item he turned it side to side to show it off and eventually turned it upsidedown. There at the bottom was a very clear pricetag from a secondhandstore that I very clearly know about. He had just bought it for a few bucks and tried to sell it for about 4X more than the original price. He first got suprised but tried to laugh it off while he scratched away the pricetag but me and my gf just looked at him with a "are you serious?" look. We told him that we would think about it and never looked back. And an another story that is pretty funny... When I and my gf tried to chek out an apartment that we was considering to rent. We walked around the pretty small space while the rentman bragged about this being totally perfect. However since we moved last time we had learnt to look close to weird things. The bathroom looked kinda damp, almost like it could be mold in the walls. Things had melted in the windows since it apparantly become to hot. And when I tried to open the wardrobes to chek if they worked and if they were deep enought he became forious and told me that it was Super-Forbidden to ever open any doors, wardrobes etc when looking at a new place to live. He did not stop shaming me for that until we was finish and then said that he wanted an answer today: We walked a few steps away from the place, looked at each other and went like : FRIGG NO!

I for one am quite surprised, as my local Honda dealer is absolutely fantastic and they have always treated me with respect. But also, there's other Japanese car dealers around and I can't say the same about them. So I guess it's not really the brand, but the people that run the dealership.
Especially that Toyota dealership, they treated me like a complete idiot (I know the difference between an automatic and a manual you tw*t).
I had a sort of bad experience with honda but thats cuz they secretly added "titanium wheel coverage" and i told them that i didn't want it cuz i had wheel covers. After a few months I realized that they did add it anyway. I was livid. But 3 years later, im happy with the car itself. Just hate Val and Brian from Culver city honda.

The best salesman, however, makes sure to find the customer exactly what they (The customer) wants.
they don’t care about you, being a saleman is about commissions as the pay is dirt. my dad used to work like that and he told me he hated being a jerk to get a little bit more money but it was the only way to make enough for us.

It’s all about actually helping people get the right product/service and leave them with a good impression of you and the business. That way they’ll tell their friends positive things to get you referrals. That’s where you start making the big commissions. Majority of my sales were all referrals from someone I’ve signed up before
@s cass Also depends what you're selling. If the motorcycle shop/dealership (they sell parts as well) close to me tried to strip as much money out of me as they can for the one first time purchase, I would never go back there. Because I've never been dissatisfied with their service I've went back a multitude of times over the years. They never try to push anything on me and just ask if I need anything else, so not only are they respectful, but they've also gained my respect and through that a loyal customer.
Sure enough, car dealerships can act differently, since it's such a big one time purchase.
@s cass as others have mentioned this isn't true at all, often the best sales tactic is to NOT try to upsell on everything to get the biggest possible sale but to, instead, establish a strong and reliable customer base with a good reputation for helping people as this will bring the best long term profit. What you suggest is a good way of losing money in a sales job.

It wasn't directly aimed at me since it was a TH-cam ad, but towards the end the guy slipped up and more or less admitted it was a scam. The ad was for something called salt therapy which is apparently some kind of holistic BS that apparently helps with your breathing.
Idk what exactly the ad was for, but generally I thought like some salt stuff can help with breathing. Like at some point in school we learned about some building that Idk but it helped with breathing problems. So how did he admit it was a scam?

I've been to a therapy where they used something like that (it was salt water vapores if I remember correctly) and they claimed it helped with asthma (they mostly dealt with people who have asthma) but I didn't have asthma and I had to do it anyway (I was a kid so they forced me to do it) and I'm not sure if it didn't actually make my breathing worse. I know for a fact that after each session of that I would cough my lungs out bc of all the moisture in my airways. That place was a total nightmare for me and it made me feel uncomfortable around the Sea...

I went to a local store for a new phone. I researched everything I wanted in my price range before this and walked confidently that I will make a purchase that day. The man showed me my phone and when I mentioned the camera he continued to show me "better phones" that have the best cameras, which were above my price range. I specifically wanted a Xiaomi and he kept pushing a Samsung that I could not afford. When I told him I am not interested in other phones, he kept pushing me by saying that Xiaomi are bad phones and Samsung are the best. I was so disappointed because I was ready to buy the specific phone I came in to buy...the moment he went to grab another phone to show me while talking like I was near him...I heard 20% of what he was saying...and I turned around to never come back. Ironically, there was a store right next door, I bought my desired phone in minutes and couldn't help but pass by the first store while flaunting the bag from the second store with my new phone in my hand. I don't know if he saw me but that was enough for me.
What a fool, my xiaomi phone has lasted so well, its a great phone

I love honest salesmen, if they try to sell you expansive stuff and they agree with you that these aren't worth it some of them might be going to show you how to get the same stuff cheaper (different brand name but the same manufacturer mostly).

I spent 15 years selling Honda’s. Most salespeople don’t know when to shut up. Listening to your customer makes the process much easier. A lot of Honda owners know more about the product than sales does so don’t make crap up. I always tried my best to never act like a salesman. I knew the end was near for me when new leadership decided that they would no longer provide all details of pricing to the customer. Shady very shady. You also try to build repeat business but with Honda’s value and reliability I might not see a previous customer for years. So I just tried to stay in contact through the years. It also helped if you drove what you sold. My 2006 Ridgeline is still going strong. Some of the business I miss but I’m not going back!!!

I remember around Christmas of 2015 me and my father went to game stop to buy the brand new call duty. We wanted a used copy to save money. So we walk up to the counter and the game stop employee says it would cost nearly $60 for a used copy. Excuse me What?!
We Went to a nearby target and found it for $30. I’ve never trusted a GameStop after that.

I had a similar experience with Xenoblade Chronicles when it was only on the wii. They were selling only used copies for $80, when the new game was only $60. Turns out, they were opening brand new copies of the game, which allowed them to put their own “pre-owned” price, which was why each copy was $80. It was hard to find that game to begin with, but GameStop’s dishonesty is the reason I refuse to buy anything from them again. Customer service is a whole other headache as well
That's how GameStop runs their business. They buy used copies for dirt-cheap then sell it back at stupid markup while abusing their employees and not paying them livable wages. Zero Originality blew the whistle on them back in like 2008 but his channel got deleted.

Then he did one of the dumbest things a salesman can do: out of sheer desperation, he tried negotiating from a position of weakness. “Bob, listen to me, this is my profession, this is how I make my living.”
Me: “Keep trying, I’m sure you can do better.” My bud came out of the office and we left. He told me that their pushiness and refusal to listen completely turned him off.

You're making it out to be a much bigger deal than it is. The guy probably feels much less strongly about it than your "state of the union address" warrants. Aborted suicide is just a thing that happens, a relatively ordinary and mostly harmless part of the human experience.

I remember a few years ago, my parents had someone from a waterproofing company (our basement had flooded a few times) come to our home. The company's name had something to do with Star Trek (think of the hand gesture Mr. Spock makes). Basically, the guy sat down with my parents in the dining room and told them how a trench would need to be dug around the perimeter of the entire house (at a cost of about 20 grand) to effectively waterproof the house, otherwise we could be subjected to future, more catastrophic flooding. My mother told me he was essentially trying to scare her into the sale, but both she and my dad knew better than to go with that option.
What did you all end up doing about the problem? Would love to know other ways of waterproofing

So the one where the guy had to demand his keys back 4 time has an easy fix, that being the fact they are holding you against your will and keeping your property from you. Simply inform them you are calling e police about the attempted theft and unlawful detention, take out your phone and start dialing
By not giving your keys back that means you cannot leave because if you do who knows what will happen to your car for all you know it ends up in a chopshop as well as not having a reasonable way home since you drove there.
They either give the keys back or get to have fun with the police.

That's a classic "guilt trip the consumer" tactic that, well, to be honest, is pretty shallow and generally may only work on the person once or twice before people catch on. I recall Mall venders, especially during the holidays, trying that shit where you go look at something, they maybe hassle you a bit, and before you leave they're like, "So you just gonna do me like that? Spend all that time looking and browsing when there's a good deal there?" And then gimmie a sob story about trying to provide money so they can buy toys for their kids... Oh yeah, wow. This is one of few reasons I hated working for Kmart/Sears. I'd have to ask all of that information for the Shop Your Way rewards card/account, and ask for a phone number for EVERY CUSTOMER. Exhausting, and people were AWFUL about it (understandably so, it's annoying!). It's probably the same for Bed, Bath & Beyond - the manager breathes down the cashier's neck and threatens that they'd be let go (or subject to some scalding performance reviews, which then leads to termination) unless they get all that information from a customer.
I always pretend I don't have my phone on me (luckily I'm one of those who always keeps it in their bag), and that I don't have the number memorized. I also made a dummy email account with a very offensive name just for such occasions.
Working in retail that pushed in getting customer’s information, I would just type in a random email and phone number if the customer declined, just to get it over with.

I remember a couple of years ago my mom was looking for a new car. She’s not a big car person so she really just wanted something of good quality and not ugly. The salesman started out really charming: laughing and whatnot when we were initially talking about something pricey. Well the conversation drifted a bit as my mom went through her options and she asked about a car that was on a lower end then the initial car. Well the salesman laughed and said something to the effect of “I just think it’s funny how we go from car A to car B, but I guess it makes sense to people who don’t know cars.” And proceeded to make a bunch of other condescending remarks to her like she was stupid. I think we were both immediately turned off and we ended up leaving not too long after that.
Dealership's think this is a good thing to do treat women like crap, treat people like they are stupid, and keep harrasing until you make a sale. The dealership I found asked me once if they could help me when I said not yet, he said let me know if I can help you and left us alone until we were ready. We've bought two vehicles there.

Sales associates that are condescending towards women lose my business automatically. My mom was a successful international business-owner, as well as CFO in charge of all finances both in the company and at home due to her financial expertise. It's also a cultural thing in my background where women tend to be in charge of family finances, since they're the ones managing children and household affairs, and likely the family business (if any) to boot. Applies to my grandmothers, aunts etc. I once had someone in the West try to sell a private healthcare plan (corporate-style) who kept saying client "and wife". I literally couldn't understand him till the third time (had to keep asking him to repeat) because the concept was so foreign to me: I kept thinking...my mom doesn't have a wife. Needless to say I walked out of there.

During my 5th grade year is when my dad straight out screamed his head off to demand a door to door salesman to leave. My dad had already answered the front door and said "no solicitors." The salesman was just standing on my front lawn when my grandmother arrived to drop me off from school. He on purposely stayed to talk with her instead but acted as if I wasn't even there when I went to go inside my house. The salesman legit ignored me when I even told him I would let my dad know. My dad was just so pissed off when I went inside to tell him.

When he said I couldn't afford it. I had the cash in my back pocket... I was spending 20k on a car, showed up the next day with a 100k car and had the salesman fired for treating customers like shit.
When I first moved out of home at 18 I had to go furniture/appliance shopping using a fresh credit card with no interest for 9 months so basically had several thousand dollars at my disposal. I was constantly profiled as someone looking for trouble because of how young I was and walked away from plenty of inept salespersons on attitude alone.
I’m kinda glad I found this, it reminds us that despite all the Karen and malicious compliance stories, the employees can be just as bad with the customers.
When a dude said I could see the cars history records only after I bought it. They went out of business 4 months later.
And when I walked into a dealership and the salesman said he had to talk to his boss. He walked 3 steps and had a conversation right behind me and talked as if I wasn't there. And the boss was an asshole. When the salesman sat down, I already knew the stupidity that lay before me. He pushed a paper in front of me and said that he could drive me over to their neighboring dealership to check out the car, but first I had to sign a paper that would injure my credit score and have me pay a fee for services. I said hell no, I'll just drive myself there, and he apologized the I couldn't be more reasonable and that it was because of me that a deal couldn't be reached. I laughed and drove 10 minutes to their 2nd dealership and the car wasn't even there. It had been sold a year ago and nobody had bothered to put it in the system. So I dodged a bullet, and learned to never trust that dealer. Never going back.
Oh! I just remembered another! This one takes the cake! I went to test drive some cars and a dealership got me into them, no strings attched. The only problem was, the 2nd car wouldn't start. Got in the 3rd one and the drivers' seat belt was missing. I only got to this point because the car I wanted (and had scheduled an appointment for) didn't even exist. After the 4th one, I looked at the lady who was clearly embarrassed and I said jokingly, "I'm gonna stop this right here before something really tragic happens. Thanks for the adventure!" And went across the street to another dealership. We couldn't get into the 4th car because she had trouble finding the keys to it and when she asked if I could wait, my brain kicked in and said, "why should I?" Definitely sticking with Carmax from now on.

I can't stand car salespeople who play games. They talk really fast and leave me hanging while supposedly talking to the sales manager.
I remember when I had a Toyota Corolla. It was a good care that I drove for work and it was dependable. But I wanted a truck. I found a 4 door midsize Dakota that was 9,000. I didn't want to get a new 40,000 truck and I don't care for 6 years of payments. I went into the dealership. The salesman was cool and he let me park the car there and take the truck for the night.
I drove it hard. I went over it and it was in excellent condition. Just had normal scratches and dings. I thought I hit the jackpot. I went into the dealership and said I want it. He said great!
He and the finance guy had the balls to work up a deal to get me financed for a new Ford Fiesta!!! I told him that I came here to purchase this truck. He said but with a new car you get a warranty, and with you traveling for work, it will use far less gas. He then said that sometimes you have to consider your needs over your wants... I told him I need a truck and don't want a car. I was furious and left.
The next day I calmed down and got to thinking that the truck is an awesome deal. I checked online and they still had it. They lowered the price by 500.00. I went back to the dealership and the same salesperson said did you come back for that car. I said No, I came for the truck and that is what I want. I also want it for the new lower price.
He wrote up the paperwork and sent it to the finance guy. He did not write it up for the new lower price. The finance guy had to redo the paperwork.
I have bought numerous vehicles over the years. Normally at the end of the sale I am shaking the salesmans hand and we laugh and chat for a bit... This guy didn't hand me the keys. He said to me that I am going to regret the purchase as I will have problems with that truck. I told him that he was an asshole and flipped him off in front of the other salespeople.
But I have owned the truck for 5 years now and only had to perform regular maintenance.

I remember last summer seeing an ask Reddit video where one of the people said she went car shopping as a young woman in the ‘70s. She’d apparently brought her dad with her and the salesman kept directing all his questions to her dad as if he were the one buying the car, even after they’d told him that she was the one purchasing. Apparently they wound up buying from a different dealership.
This happened to my parents and its hilarious. They were listening to a time share and had an rest stated they weren't that interested. He keeps trying and trying but they say no. He then says I normally don't do this but I'm going to go talk to my boss about a deal. He then, I kid not, walks straight into the bathroom, then comes out 10 minutes later telling them that his boss has a deal for them. This was in the 90s so no cell phones so this guy literally walked into the bathroom and never talked to his boss

He wasn’t going to kill himself, if one dude at a single store being a little pushy was enough to make him so nervous he decides to not buy a gun from there, or literally ANYWHERE else he would not have had the nerve to actually pull the trigger.
I was in a local skateshop and the guy was clearly baked. I started checking the prices on the boards, just looking to save a few dollars off the $200 to $280 I was about to spend for my own recreation. The guy kept trying to push gimmick trucks and other parts on me.
"These trucks are magnesium core axles, they are lighter. This has a carbon fiber weave, it makes the board stronger. These are hexagon bit hardware, you got to have an allen wrench to get them on and a few are gold plated. These are Ceramic bearings, they make you go faster."
Everything he suggested was absolutely unreasonably priced. The bearings he suggested were $200 alone, the ones that I've always buy are $16 and outlast the boards I buy. After a lot of almost confrontational, passive aggressive talk from him. He dropped the line.
"No idea how I'm going to stay open with so many cheap people in the area."
The look on his face when I responded

Opened my skateshop in the same location after he went out of business. His shop lasted 3 months, mines been open for 5 years. I don't do gimmicks. Come in with $100 and you got yourself a complete deck. May not have the bells and whistles or prestige as a pro deck, but its a cheap work horse thats well worth more money. I design the graphics and have my own decks made in quantity to pass the saving on. Same makers of many pro decks, just without the pro deck price.

Me and my boyfriend where looking for a gym and the sales man told us that a lady lost her fingers to a machine (he was basically making fun of someone that literally lost fingers 2 weeks ago) then when I told him I'll be back and that I just wanted to see my other options he then said well why are you gunna go to look at gyms if you don't have money (24 hour fitness) after a good 4 weeks of soul searching we found one (lifetime fitness) it was the best decision ever made my bf lost almost 100 pounds and I couldn't be happier

I used to work at a retail store where they would hassle you to get their special credit card (which I've heard was overly expensive when you try to pay it back with its interests) I always hated when we were required to really ask the customer and even if they say no once we have to keep on showing the benefits until they seemed to be uncomfortable or upset. I must say that I only ever asked once because I felt bad for those who were pressured to get something that they wouldn't like if they got it. Hell I've seen a non English speaker get pressured into getting the credit card and I don't think she had any idea what she would need to do with it. It was awful

Well known carpet retailer. I went there instead of my usual local boys who do my house for me since they had a sale on.
Saw one carpet in this big carpet store I liked. Asked a salesman if it was also on sale. He scoffed and said "No! I could sell these all day!" With a big grin on his face. "Not to me you aren't" I replied and walked out.
The local guys did my carpet as professionally as usual and the big store I've never even went in since.

When I was in my first or second year working as a nightshift nurse, I kept getting telemarketer calls multiple times a day to the point of harassment. They kept waking me up and I was getting really irritated. The one l that peeved me the most was the guy who got super-pushy and chatty.
Telemarketer: Hi, am I speaking to PHN?
Me: (groggily and annoyed) Yes. You woke me up. I work nightshift. (Hint: hang up)
Telemarketer: Oh, really? What do you do?
Me: I’m a nurse. And I work nightshift. (It’s been a long time, but I’m sure tired/cranky me would have reiterated this)
Telemarketer: Oh, really? You sound really young. How old are you?
Me: I have to work tonight: You people keep waking me up. I’m hanging up. Don’t call me back. Ever. (Hangs up on him talking)
Not long after, I got on the Do-Not-Call Registry and the telemarketer calls lessened by a lot.
One time everything went well until the end. At the last moment I said, "alright, well seeing as how you're the first place i stopped and the first car i looked at, i do want it, but i would like to look at another car or two and sleep on it. I dont just jump into stuff without thinking about it." He was like, "ARE YOU FUCKInG KIDDING ME. I thought we were here to make a deal...." he said I few more things that I just tuned out as I left with no intention to return. I really wanted the car and my wife wanted me to go back and deal with another salesman to get it. I refused. If he would have said "no problem, I hope to see you tomorrow" there was about a 99% chance I would have bought that one.
As a salesman I'm ashamed to hear that these people call themselves salesmen.

I was in Hawaii as a marchingband trip and me and my roommates were walking around the shopping center when we come across a saltwater pearl shop where you crack open the oyster to get your pearl. It was pretty cool. I got a nice lady that helped me get the cheaper option for setting the pearl in a necklace, but my friend got another salesman who kept on pressuring her with these (admittedly gorgeous) sets that are decorated with diamonds. She considered it, but she had decided that it was to expensive and she could probably find somewhere cheaper to set the pearl at home. She said no, and the guy barely acknowledged her decline and tried to convince her saying “This pearl is going to be without a home” and “you’re making a mistake” “look how beautiful this is. Don’t forget that’s a real diamond”
He got more aggressive and rude about it. And at this point me and my other roommate are waiting for her. I observe what’s going on and reassure her that she’s okay, and to stand her ground because he was hassling her.
When he went back to get something he claimed was cheaper, I told her to tell him that she is either buying just the pearl, or she is leaving without paying.
When he was bagging the pearl he was glaring at us and basically threw the pearl at her.
I remembered his name and later called the company about it. I don’t know what happened after that, and I usually don’t like ‘calling the company’. But the way he was acting was extremely rude, unprofessional, and almost drove away a sale. It was like he’s never been denied before in his fucking life.
It spoiled our moods for the rest of the day.
The irony of this is that I bought a cheap kid’s thing where you open a clam to get a dinky, most likely plastic, pearl with this little locket style necklace to put it in. It was like $12. I gave the necklace part to her and it looked gorgeous with her pearl in it and on her. So yeah. Fuck you Charlie.

My thought process was that if he was going to commit suicide, how expensive the method was wouldn't factor in because he wouldn't have the need or ability to spend money on anything else afterwards. Didn't realize that suicidal people can still care about what happens to other people after their death. In which case I don't get what led to being suicidal in the first place if not crippling apathy, since committing suicide would only hurt his family when he could instead spend the rest of his life helping them and others.

I had a car salesman try to sell me a piece of crap for (in his own words) an amazing low interest rate of 23%. I walked out on the spot. I had another try to change the deal behind my back and threaten me when I found out he changed the loan amount/ payment that we agreed on. He tried the whole "well you're stuck with it because you signed some paperwork" but I told him the deal was never finalized since I didn't receive the keys. He then tried to make harassing phone calls to get me to come to the dealership to sign some paperwork stating that I was backing down from the deal or something. I told him I don't have to sign sh** and if he didn't stop calling I would call the better business Bureau. That was the last I heard from him.
I had a Honda dealership refuse to finance me anything until I had at least 3 pay stubs to show them. Being a brand new nurse and only getting paid every other week that was impossible for a while. The pay stub I had for her showed that I could easily afford the used car. She said I wasted her time. The next week I drive off a different lot with a brand new Toyota. Have loved that car ever since. That dealership also gave me a lot of extra benefits
That part about the furniture guy using the "deals" given by the manager is completely true. I breifly had a stint offering plans for english lessons and my boss gave me a schpiel I had to memorize whenever I had a client. It included telling them a "normal" prize, but that we were offering a special package that included all the materials (the materials are included in all situations) and that I made up a "discount" that can be applied to that particular client "Because you're still underage, because you're a housewive, a special offer for parents" etc. But it was all bull, but, hey, it was my first real job.
I finally quit when he gave me another "tactic" offering them a special price "but they had to say yes right now". I hate when vendors do that shit to me and I couldn't, in good conscience, do the same to others.

While house shopping we thought we found our dream home. Everything was good. The person started bragging about doing all the work to the house themselves. Mentions driving a big bulldozer type truck over the yard because a tree had fallen.....I asked him if he drove over the leeching fields for the septic tank, he didnt see a problem with doing that. Yea had it inspected and the septic was all fcked up, he called us liars and said the guy inspecting everything was “part of it” lol
i was only 15 and home alone when a traveling sales guy knocked on the door, and since no one usually bothers us, as our house is kinda in the middle of nowhere, i just assumed it was a package. literally the only i didn’t check the peep hole. before i could even say hello he asks me if my HUSBAND is home. i also feel that it’s important to know that i can be very paranoid sometimes and have probably watched too much law and order svu for my own good. i was so caught off guard and so distracted being mad at myself for opening the door i accidentally let it slip that my parents were out walking our dogs, but would be back very soon. the guy said he’d just leave then, and let me tell u i sprinted all around the house locking all the doors and windows.
Recently while getting money from a atm 2 guys in a sports car drove by me and the guy next to me asking if I wanna buy a gold chain. From looks alone you can tell it looked like a yellow plastic chain Out of walmart or a doller store. Said no. The whole thing felt like something out of "everybody's hates Chris"
By not saying anything at all, at least not to me. I wanted to buy my first car when I was 19 and my dad went with me. We went to this used car lot around the corner from us and mentioned to the manager that I was the customer looking. Totally ignored any of my attempts to ask about any features, work done, etc.(I love cars and know a lot about them), and only spoke to my dad, probably because I was a woman. Nope. Left and that place didn't end up lasting that long. What a shock.

Went to a dealership looking to buy a Camaro. Took one step in the door and a young sales guy hanging around by the entrance took one look at me and instantly decided what I needed was a chevy cruze and started his sales pitch to sell me one. Ended up leaving within 5 minutes having never looked at what I came to see. Ended up having a great experience at a different dealership and ended up buying at 13k under MSRP.
Reminds me of a story about a car salesman kept asking the dad of a girl if he wanted to buy the car when it was the girl who had all the money. They went back to the dealership and got their keys and left as the salesman tried to get the dad to talk sense into “the ignorant kid” he told the salesman and his boss that she was his financial manager at their family practice. Both of them were slack jawed.
Story went something like that.

I'm big into car care and was looking for some specialist, very absorbant, microfiber towels they make specifically for cars. In my town every year they have a street market and i knew they'd be selling them there. When the day came I went straight for the car care stand and asked to buy 5 towels for about 30$ a piece. The salesman asked what size car i drove and i responded a volvo wagon. He then said i'd only need 1 towel to dry the whole car and proceeded to chuck water on his display car to show how well they worked. I ended up buying 3 towels and he threw in a bottle of free wheel cleaner. Tl;DR Salesman talked down a 100% sure-thing big buck sale to a smaller one and gave me free stuff on top of it. Nice guy, but not the cleverest

I was accosted by a UNICEF employee (or is it volunteer work?) just outside Tivoli in Copenhagen.
Of course he tried to sell me all this crap about helping the needy and helping the children, but when I started to give some resistance, because I'm the kind of guy who thinks we should eliminate the cause, not simply treat the symptoms, he started to change his tactics and went into guilt-trip mode. I have enough guilt over stupid shit as it is, I don't need someone else to try to pile more onto me. That's when he immediately lost any and all of the already incredibly slim chances he had.

Phone sales back in the day, when iPhone was not all-dominating. As soon as I stepped in the store, a salesperson jumped on me. I told them I quite literally stepped into the store and was just looking. He kept pestering me every 30 seconds ('You know this phone has *new feature, etc. etc').
In the end, I just sighed, and in my best exhausted voice said, 'Please! Just leave me alone!'. He backed off. Less than 2 minutes later, a second salesperson asked me if I was looking for a new phone. I had enough and without eye contact blankly said, 'No' whilst reading all the little notes about the phones. He must have been confused because he just stood next to me without saying a word. I stayed there for half an hour (I was researching, but not committing to buy just yet) to make it more awkward for him. Took him a while before he realized i would not be asking him any questions, and walked away.
I was trying to convince my pops I needed a hyabusa and told him it got great gas mileage and blah blah sales man was giving a great pitch until he mentioned to the father of 18 yr old me "did I mention it's the world's fastest product motorcycle" and it's top speed my pops instantly noped out ( I needed him to co sign)

I was the sales supervisor but the store manager came over and totally tried to get this old woman to buy our trendiest purse because it was double the price of the one she was literally walking to the line to purchase, that I convinced her to buy because it was timeless and she was old... She figured we were both BSing her and ended up with nothing. I quit a few weeks later for different reasons lmao.
Once a guy trying to sell me and my dad my first phone plan was selling the "ten numbers unlimited call and text." He told me it would be more than enough because there's no way I have ten friends. Needless to say the man did not earn his commission.
Car dealership INSISTED I buy an extended warranty when it was already disclosed that my commute to and from work exceeds the mileage coverage of said warranty.

Me and my brother went to a dealership and told the salesman I didn't want a Honda. The first car he brings out is a Honda I go sir I don't want a Honda so he brings out two more before telling me about another car another Honda. My brother shot me a look then he takes us to another car that not only didn't start but still wouldn't start after jumping the battery. We were sitting in the car while he tried to jumped the battery my brother just said we will call you later never went back.
My mother recieved life insurance money when my brother passed away and she decided to recarpet her whole house...she went to a carpet store that someone recomended... my mother and I were in the store no more than ten minutes looking at carpet samples when an elderly salesman came up to my mother and said, "Hurry up and pick something out, lady, this isn't an art gallery"...we were totally shocked that someone would be that rude...a younger salesman came up to us and apologised profusely, telling us to take all the time we needed to look at the samples but this incident made us leave the store. 🤨

once at a small market I found a rather nice glass/crystal bottle and the seller who saw that I was interested claimed that it was a unice, antique bottle who worked excellent, was in good condition etc so he wanted around 20 Dollars for it.
while he was busy bragging about the item he turned it side to side to show it off and eventually turned it upsidedown.
There at the bottom was a very clear pricetag from a secondhandstore that I very clearly know about. He had just bought it for a few bucks and tried to sell it for about 4X more than the original price.
He first got suprised but tried to laugh it off while he scratched away the pricetag but me and my gf just looked at him with a "are you serious?" look.
We told him that we would think about it and never looked back.
And an another story that is pretty funny...
When I and my gf tried to chek out an apartment that we was considering to rent.
We walked around the pretty small space while the rentman bragged about this being totally perfect. However since we moved last time we had learnt to look close to weird things. The bathroom looked kinda damp, almost like it could be mold in the walls.
Things had melted in the windows since it apparantly become to hot.
And when I tried to open the wardrobes to chek if they worked and if they were deep enought he became forious and told me that it was
