I have my CPC, completed Practicode and still dread E/M Coding. Thank you so much for making sense out of all the tables and charts. I'm going to watch them again, because I really want to have this down. Can't thank you enough for explaining this to me.
I’m nearing the end of my course and E/M coding seems to be where I’m hitting a wall. Thank you so much for this series, I hope by the time I finish it I will be much more savvy with how to do this part of coding!
I just passed my CPC exam a couple of days ago, but I scored very low on the E/M code I really struggle with this. Your videos are helping a lot thank you!!
1997 Coding Guidelines add confusion for me when scoring the examination portion. I think I really need to use the check boxes and total the number correctly, so I will repeat your videos for a while! :)
Yes and hats off to the AMA for working on revising the guidelines to combat some of the original CMS ideas that were not so well received like the "collapsing" of levels 2-4.
Hi, I did not have the best of training, so I am now using your videos to improve the training I did receive. I desperately want to right my CPC exam. I am trying to find - MEDICAL CODING - EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT - How To Code E&M Part 4 of 4, maybe the description is different or I am just anxious and missed it some how.
2 new videos every week! I post a lot and often have "Ask Me Anything" live streams where lots of people come in to ask questions about the medical coding industry.
I am a new subbie to your channel, really appreciate your videos. I am a CPC-A and I certainly am still learning. Thank you for all your time and energy! :)
I'm having a hard time with the E/M section. It would be nice to see some actual cases done with these charts. Thank you so much for this video. I will be reviewing them.
I love your videos. They are soooo helpful! If a pt comes in with a xx of influenza and Acute suppurative otitis media of L ear would that count as 1 undiagnosed new prob with uncertain dx? Or 2 or mor self- limited minor problems? I have problems with this column.
This is my first semester in medical coding. Im only taking one medical coding class this semester and I'm already overwhelmed!! does it get any easier? and thank you for your videos, you are a life saver.
If a patient is new to a primary care office, would the "decision" to request the previous pcp records count? Even though the office requires it? Thank you
I know this is old information, but I took my exam and missed it by 5. I use to think I was really good with E/M however, I didn't get any of them right on the exam so I am going back. when you spoke about the final result for complexity do you have any examples because I have read it multiple time, however, it is not clicking.
Hi 👋🏻 I have a question! At the 4:47 mark, “Established problem (to examiner); stable, improved” is duplicated beneath it. Is that a typo or am I missing a difference in the two? Thank you!
Watching in Aug 2022, are these tables still applicable? What search term do I use in my jurisdiction's website to find the ones for my area? Coming up empty handed each time. :(
It's either one or the the other, you can only put each diagnosis in one of the categories. If they're self-limited it's new or established problems and you only get one point each for a maximum of two points. These would be something that would normally resolve on it's own like a cold or insect bite. If they're not minor problems and both are new to the provider, they would each get "new without workup." But there's a maximum of 1 for that, so it would be 3 points.
This is the one I use. It's good for holding one book. (affiliate link & I may receive commission if you purchase) - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078W42WWS/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=contempocod0b-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B078W42WWS&linkId=814e9dae16b1f0afc7932d62aeed7308 I know some people use a book carousel and love them but others say they have problems with books sliding down.
I can't thank you enough for all of your videos. I was completely lost on the e/m and the practicum. You are making it sink in for me. you really are an amazing teacher :)

Please provide a link where to obtain the sheets you are laminating. Thank you for all you do.

You're very welcome! Good luck with E&M!
I'm a medical coding student and really appreciate your videos. Thank you.
You are amazing !! I've been pulling my hair out trying to understand this stuff, and now it all makes sense

You got this!

Had to comment: you are a BOSS! Hope I can be like you someday. Please keep the E/M videos coming. I'll tell my struggling classmates : )
Thanks! Always appreciate the shares!!
The new changes for 2021 and MDM have been a long time coming. True benefit for providers to focus on what they need to manage their patients.

Thank you so much, my final exam is soon and your videos are the best!
Best of luck, Margaret! Make sure you check out the new E&M videos since they updated the office/outpatient criteria!
Another informational video! Can't wait for 2021!
Thank you for your awesome presentations, very clear and I hope you make more videos for new coders for 2021

Check the rest of the channel, there are case studies available.
Sometimes there are MRI results, or lab reports on the progress note. Wld those count towards the MDM for reviewed data?
In the 95/97 guidelines yes, but only if the provider states they reviewed them, just copy/pasting them into the note is insufficient.
How do we get a copy of the score cards used in the EM videos?
I love your videos. They are soooo helpful! If a pt comes in with a xx of influenza and Acute suppurative otitis media of L ear would that count as 1 undiagnosed new prob with uncertain dx? Or 2 or mor self- limited minor problems? I have problems with this column.
Love your videos
You are awesome! I was so lost in this area

Where did you get your white bookstand in the video background? I am trying to find one to hold my coding books. Thanks!

Typo -- should say worsening and not stable.

Hi Victoria...I am from India..your videos are very helpful and knowledgeable.i need your help...
Awesome! There's lots of great and helpful videos all over my channel. Enjoy!!
so if there are 2 problems that are self-limiting and is also new to the provider without workup, you would get 5 points total?

There are two Established problem wording. What is the difference between the two?
how do I include you in the amazon link for commission?please let me know and thanks so much
You just use the link when you purchase. That's it. :)
Do you have anything for CEMA
E/M coding is where it all fell apart for me. I'm second guessing my career and my whole life.
Hey -- just get through enough to pass the exam. There are TONS of coding roles without E&M at all.
cAN U PLEASE SHARE THE BOOK HOLDER U HAVE NEAR YOUR DESK IS IT USEFUL CAN U RECOMMEND A GOOD ONE?

Am I supposed to know and understand all of this right out of certificate school? I am lost.
Yes...you might need to study up
