    If the leaves smell lemony when crushed it is lemon balm.

    That's mint. You can make tea. Dry it and store it for long term use.

    I’m dizzy! Trying to decide to have a door or not a door . 😅 as a person who lives in an open plan house and rarely closes what doors I do have, I would never advise you. I get that the weather can be cold and the climate is dictating your choices. I’ve only just begun to watch from the first video, so I’m hoping when I get further along all will make sense. I’m enjoying the videos 🇦🇺 Aussie granny.

    Personally I would put your Nasturtium against the house - pretty flowers and edible which I'm sure you know but so pretty

    Mint...It will keep going and going - they are a tuber and will root underground - dig it up unless you want to become a mint farmer...Only grow mint in containers - FYI...

    Mint- great in green salads, great tea for headaches , good sleep, stomach upsets. Crop and eat and it will always recover. Dies over winter and comes back. Luvverly

    Against the barn wall is a perfect place for any heat loving veggie or perfect for climbing roses or fig tree. The bed could be raised a little with the use of some of your rocks like the one you used to smash the drill. Good idea of window in the wall where the sink would be so the hall would not be so dark.

    Looks to be a basil or mint. Maybe a green house down the side of the building. It would be close and easy to get to. Herb garden in a raised bed. Just keep the door wide enough to get furniure in and out.

    Hello! Tomatoes along barn...would they get sufficient sun? The gutter above would give you a place to tie a cord for tomato plant support. Intermediate tomatoes main stem will be happy to be loosely twisted around the cord to climb upward. If you let a side shoot grow off that plant you can twist that one up another cord also, leave several feet between cords for ventilation. If tomatoes go through a dry spell the get lots of water they split. I loop a soaker hose around plant base going down the row of tomatoes. Keeps foliage dry and water gets all sides of roots.
    Is the horse poop aged before going in garden? If not it might burn the plants. Happy gardening!

    You may need to visit the decheterie (if thats how you spell it) soon :) Did you mention harvesting rainwater in an earlier vlog ? would be very useful for you for the garden. Get those downpipes filling up large containers instead of wasting it ~ specially for your summer down there. You could get gallons and gallons from your neighbours barn downpipe.

    Lawns on properties as big as yours are a lot of work to keep nice. Rethink your overall plan and grown lawn areas amongst garden beds of flowers or vegetables. The best plant for regenerating your soil is potatoes. They will grow anywhere even against your shed/barn. After harvesting dig the leaves into the soil. My old dad did this in all the properties we lived in and had beautiful gardens.

    Break one of the leaves and smell it...It could be plain mint or prehards lemon mint.

      I know it as Lemon balm. I didn't realise it could become a nuisance, but I will take it over brambles any day :-)

    Yes against the barn wall would be great - but keep the tomato plants off the ground or you will get blight. FYI - I bet the wall will help retain heat and keep wind off - would be great for anything really. You are so lucky - it will look beautiful.

    • @GoingsoloinFrance
      @GoingsoloinFrance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you not plant your tomatoes in the ground?

    • @chrislarsen2684
      @chrislarsen2684 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GoingsoloinFrance Yes - plant them in the ground but keep the shoots up and off the ground - new tomotoes grow upwards. Just keep the new shoots and flowers off the ground. Trellis them or string method.

    Tomato plants need a consistant soaking especially during the hot summer as does a lawn if your property has a well that might help or if water taxes are not an issue for you as for your numerous doors talk all that came to mind for me was Jim Morrison 😀 good luck with ideas

    In the area you want to plant - didn't you get a bunch of Phlox ground cover picked up in seeds? Might be nice with a few pots set in the garden also. Just to give a depth/height to the setting.

    • @GoingsoloinFrance
      @GoingsoloinFrance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Apparently phlox is a bit awkward to germinate. I will spend some time getting them sorted.
